After root, install "LagFix (fstrim) Free" from Google Play, run it (trim /system /data /cache) and reboot. This will highly likely solve your lag problems. As for the battery drain, check that Google Now is disabled (under Voice Search)
And if still not satisfied by battery life, I highly recommend greenify app to greenify to hibernate any lesser used apps that have wakelocks as well use your wifi/mobile data in the background.

BTW since 4.4 not coming to SIII, Xiaomi Mi3 looks mighty attractive as a replacement if needed (Selling for  SGD419 via Xiaomi Singapore online sales in March 7)

Am currently anti-Knox, so Samsung has really screwed up as far as I am concerned, they should just prepare a Knox enabled ROM version for enterprises to secure their phones and leave us consumers the normal unlocked bootloaders and normal ROMS. Samsung really is making the same mistakes that HTC made... {sigh}

Samsung marketing - nothing so say, spending needed to keep up with Apple

But in the end I have to admit, the masses are the ones who determines the success of these companies. Not the enthusiast or fan-boys (i.e. most of us here on this forum)

you may right. seem like samsung not goona update 4.4 for S3, 4.3 might be the last update. when we  say "porting" meant any dev mod other device's firmware like note3 or S4 stock 4.4, + suitable drivers for S3.

anyway, those porting or early development unstable rom (if any) may not suitable for my noob friend, I just suggest him to flash TW 4.3 rom, at least stable; while waiting further update if any.....

Guys, need some help. I installed the official 4.3 and could not get the network to work. Surprisingly, when i call my own number there are ringing tones but the phone doesnt ring.

Anything i should do?

I hope there is a simple trick or two to fixed it. Otherwise i will just send back to service center since it is still under warranty.

Did that. Confirmed not sim card problem. This problem arises exactly after updating to 4.3

Looks like a total disappointment in terms of design and specs for me. In my opinion, it is still on par with the note 3. Nothing special really. I would still prefer the note 3 over the s5.

i flash wrong version of yank kernel before.
4.3 one on 4.2.
phone manage to boot just fine and everything working.
never brick also. end of the day only realize wrong kernel.
haha. flash back the correct one then normal again.

s3 still stands strong despite 2 newer gens coming up

nothing much to wow i suppose. but specs wise, note is always better specs somehow... can see from s4 and note 3.

i've been using my s3 with 3000mAh battery,
constantly getting great battery usage.
i use my phone even more than previously. and it NEVER once died due to lack of juice during the day.

every night i sleep still have 20-30%, thats with 1.5+ hour voice call and 4+ hours SOT.

what i'm trying to say is, having a big battery that can give >5 hours sot on a single charge is sufficient.
rather than having 2 small battery.
