QUOTE(nickerlas @ Jul 8 2015, 04:20 PM) Reading on some of the comments here regarding SP. It depends really where you use your mbp. If it is used outside often and where it is susceptible to dust and grime, then an SP is worthwhile. For me, I don't use one as I mostly use it indoors. Maintenance is basically an occasional wipe with a damp tissue and its all good.I just got my mbp13 early 2015, been in the box for 3 days while i look around for a cheap casing which i'll get tomorrow. Q: Is it really necessary for a SP? I feel it'd compromise the retina display, while i've never bothered with SPs for my previous laptops (windows laptops). Also, will try to use windows on parallels soon since the users here report a better experience than bootcamp, and let you guys know my experience. |

QUOTE(westlife @ Jul 12 2015, 02:16 PM) Obviously the cloth supplied with the rmbp is excellent, but when its dust its ok to use and wipe, but some times its more than dust, which i rather wipe with a damp tissue to safely take away the grime. Finger prints on the screen also promotes dust sticking so better avoid. |

QUOTE(Lego Warfare @ Jul 12 2015, 02:21 PM) once a while i noticed some popping sound coming from my 2015 macbook retina 13" Could it be some other apps that is working in the background or a wigget that making that sound? If you have disabled the spekers, that the sound could either be mechanical(fan etc) or electrical. Since rmbp uses solid state memory, only physical part would be the fan....Anyone experienced the same thing? I googled and i see some having the same issues which can occur while using FaceTime etc. Btw the popping sound on mine happens at random times even if it's just browsing the web. No music/audio is playing (speakers not in use) when that happens. |

QUOTE(Lego Warfare @ Jul 14 2015, 09:29 PM) No problem with mine. More than 10 tabs opened including Apple Music page + downloading 6 torrents at the same time and my MBRp still quiet and cool as a cat.. Good to hear that, as for mine the loudest fan noise I can recall is when I play high graphics games. Surfing on safari is no issue though. |

QUOTE(BlackWoods @ Jul 15 2015, 09:48 AM) Mine is latest MBP on Yosemite, guess Yosemite is really slower and worse than Mavericks in term of performance. The only reason I haven't upgraded to yosemite was due to the interface. Mavericks looks more handsome than the flat yosemite. Even the dock icon looks much better. |

QUOTE(BRY7 @ Jul 15 2015, 09:34 PM) if you can find the installer of Maverick, i believe you can do a clean installation of Maverick on your mac that came preinstalled with Yosemite I bought mine sometime in August 2014, which came preinstalled with Mavericks. My other colleague who bought the mba have already Yosemite. That was when we noticed the vast difference of the interface and indeed the mavericks was much nicer to look at. I am not much of a power user thus I figured might as well stick with the existing OS. Probably as and when Yosemite have come full circle I might upgrade. Till then I am very happy with the Mavericks OS.As I recall, there is a 3rd party app that can override the fan parameters. But I forgot the app name. Power user did mention that it really helps with cooling down the unit during heavy usage. |

QUOTE(Mavik @ Aug 5 2015, 10:48 AM) When doing housekeeping, yes indeed it is tedious but from my experience this is the most safest route and with minimal disasters. There are softwares such as disc doctor for example that can do the work for you but is a big risk as the software may not know which file to delete and which to maintain. Its not a straight forward operation as user files are not like system files which are easily identified. You could try and use these softwares but do make a backup before hand. |

QUOTE(Cheapodude @ Oct 14 2015, 09:11 PM) Yup, I guess those who bought rMBP before the price increase would count themselves lucky. Mine is Retina, 13" Mid 2014 which bought before the implementation of GST. So pretty huge difference compared to the current price now. Same here. Count us lucky this time round....but sooner or later sure kena |

Morning all, a rmbp battery question.
My rmbp is now 1.1years old. Gone through 165x charge cycles and the battery health is 90%. Is this normal? At what %point usually does a battery change is required? Thanks situs... |

Upgraded to El Capitan 10.11.1 today.... download no issues, smooth sailing. Took about 1 hour to download and another 2 hours to update all other softwares ...
Only regret is the boring interface.... so used to mavericks that this new update looks so mundane |

QUOTE(silverwave @ Oct 28 2015, 10:24 PM) Thanks for the links and correct me if i am wrong from what I've gathered. I have downloaded the app 'battery health' and it is free to download and use. It's ok to leave it plugged and the battery should be discharged at least once a month. The 1 full cycle is only counted if i use it fully (a full 100%). If i use 50% today and charge till 100%, the cycle remains. If i use another 50% tomorrow then it is 1 cycle. The part i did not quite understand is the charging part when the battery is around 94%. Does it mean that i i leave it plugged till 100%, it will take around 6% x 16-17 rounds before it is counted as 1 cycle? There are some interesting advice within the app and it tells you how to calibrate the battery upon a specific period. The app also provides details and health of the battery which is more information than the standard app that comes with the mac. Try it out. |

QUOTE(invisiblelim @ Nov 1 2015, 10:36 PM) Hi I would like to ask. When I put my MacBook at sleep mode or lid closed. The battery still will consume, I had done the reset Pram and smc. It's still the same. Any advice? If have running apps which still open like mail, torrent etc, sure the machine will consume power as and when there is push mail coming in to your notebook. But I think it will stop doing so as and when the % of battery comes to a certain set level.I'm using 15" retina mid 2015 w 370x version. Thanks |
