CDs don't last forever. Every 2~3 years I will re-burn the more important/significant projects into fresh media. Now I'm using DVD+Rs for increased storage capacity - less discs to dig around for one single file sometimes.

You can burn it in the DVD/CD and keep an important copy in the hard drive itself.

Well for myself I will backup them into 2 copies of DVD+R and keep them well smile.gif Maybe you want to try to keep those DVDs that you backup in a hard case or somewhere that safe from scratches smile.gif

If you buy a good CD-RW not a generic brand you could save your pictures for at least 5 years.

KODAK Writable CD and Photo CD Media has a capcity to hold for 100 years -- http://www.cd-info.com/CDIC/Technology/CD-R/Media/Kodak.html

Well for be burning it up in a good CD or DVD is the answer. A good one branded one will last at least 50 years. Store the CD in a dry and clean place. Always handle the optical disk with care. No finger prints and dirt. FYI my pictures save last 8 years in a Mitsubishi CDR which was up to 4x that time is still very good. No whatsoever Error. That time that CDR cost around RM20.. haha smile.gif

the best way is still using those magnetic tape, which is costly.
