I've put on viking protech 5 since sept 13, 225/40/18 rm360 each. So far im very happy with the performance and even during wet condition.
Today i went to do alignment & balancing, the tyres shop told me this tyres quality is good and the thread is still in good condition after 9 months (25000km on the road).

Just bought Vking 195/60/R15 which cost me RM200 each and recommended by tyre shop. Slightly regret coz not doing much of homework before change my tyres. I am looking for less noise and comfort tyre which initially want to give a try on Mix XM-2.

road noise due to hard compound...i hate that too, which is why most of the time i go for michelin or continental.

Just changed 4 pieces of Viking CT 5 on my Iswara. All I can say is damn good lol, road noise is acceptable(cause of thick rubber thread I think). Handling okay. Wet condition handling also good! So far so good, recommended! FYI, I changed RM110 per piece, 175/70r13

No. Viking is cheaper than Falken.

I have been using Falken for many years, I think more than 10 years,
Falken is a very good tyre, soft, quiet and comfortable like Michelin,
no complain at all.

I started to use Falken since when it was first called Firenza many years ago.

Now since Viking is cheaper, i want to try Viking..

Location is near Happy Garden, Kuchai Lama.
But the Chinese shop supervisor is quite LC.

I guess the price for 195/50R15 is RM 111, plus RM 15 installation + 6% GST,
so each 195/50R15 will cost roughly RM 133.60

I think it should be cheaper, but not sure.

I'm not a tyre expert but previously using Michelin XM1, just the same. Not noisy and quite comfy.

Post updated:

Checked out the place today. Promotion only for selected specs, i guess the not so popular ones.

Viking citytech 185/50/15 got promotion at rm135, excl alignment and gst.

But my Honda City I wanted to change to 195/55/15 is normal price which is RM 156, excl alignment and gst.

Actually the guy I spoke to quite ok, not so lcly. He recommend Goodyear, supposedly less bumpy than Viking, just slightly more expensive at Rm166.

Just surf to http://mytayar.com at your leisure... Key in your location and tyre size... the website will show what is offered by the Network Workshops... If ok, book online by paying 5% deposit while the balance after the tyre installled etc... If not ok, click on "x" to close window... More info on website.. Thanks...

If the promo is still available on the gross price (listed on banner) of RM 111 for each Viking 195/60/15:
195/60/15 is RM 111 + RM 15 + 6% GST = around RM 133.56 each

But not sure if this promo on Jalan Lazat is still available or not... hmm.gif

I went there looking for 205/55 but they don't have promo for that profile.

Yeah, noisy compared to other premium tire... You can't expect anything from that price range.
But, overall performance I would said is good. It's more durable than it's looks. rclxms.gif

I see lots of people using it (not reviewing it though hehe). The brand is from Norway but the Viking tyres here are made locally.

If you observe tyres at car parks, can spot Viking around. Saw even on luxury cars such as BMWs. Of course their market share is small being a relatively new brand but I think it is slowly growing. The more common brands that I observe are Michelin, Continental, Dunlop, Bridgestone, etc

Yeah, viking handling is really no bad since it's under continental.

I change to Viking tire and kind of regret it as the air keep on leaking from my kenari and I have to pump it up almost every week. The jelutong tire shop I send it say the weight balance at the side cause the air to escape and they adjust it but after a month. It will come back again. The tire side is hard and does not grip the rim well causing the air to escape faster than normal tire. I get it at RM150/each. No problem for the rear tire as it does not turn much as the front those causing the air to leak out. I will change the two front tire to some other brand and keep the rear one for now. The two extra from the front will be use for rear when it botak.

They check it and replace the valve but later trace to the weight click to the tire that leak air out. Now, I try to pump at 260 to keep the tire straight and hard.

They fix it by removing all the little weight plug the other shop put in for balancing without doing anything and it come back again whenever the air is low. Never going to buy viking anymore - Sime typre I use last time seen ok. Just RM10/= more. Will going to get the two front tyre replace soon.

Saw in some reviews according to this brand need to pump at least 36 psi. more than 260.

Dangerous or not put in 36 psi? It just not worth it to risk for this cheap tire. I am planning to replace it soon.

I guess too coz I'm using Protech 40,000km with no issues. Perhaps Protech much better compared to Citytech.

You can try ask professional opinions from the workshop staff. I believe they will solve your issue. Bare in mind that using the same model doesnt mean issue solved, unless we are driving the same vehicle.

i never changed all four tyres one go..it cost me a total of rm500.xx (dun remember the cents) including balancing+allignments+gst...seems a good bargain or not? when 1st choosing i thought on buying the Falken (well-known than viking at least and cheaper at rm100 per donut) but the tauke said "falken is lousy one..better viking coz same company with continental one". and i ended up going with his suggestion.

I am willing to try cheap tyres because I really dont drive aggressively. I know Sime tyres were lousy. Kena hydropanning frequently on NSE. After that I only used michelin but now that tyres have gotten so expensive.. Viking or Bugis brand also I am willing to try

Care to drive down MRR2 a bit? If so, go to Dtox at Wangsa Maju or AutohausKL at AU3, ask if they have your tyre size in stock before you go.

Save your money - stay away from it - I regret buying it for my car. The grip to the rim not good as the tire is harder a bit then Sime tyre I use before. The air escape slowly and every week, I must go to pump it up. You may save a little but not worth the trouble. I am now thinking of changing the two front tire to CC6. They offer me two solution - change the rim or change to another brand of tire. I pay RM150/= each x 4 and was thinking it was a good deal then, 10 month down the road - with many month of trouble. I had enough. Yes, the shop sold me their last set of viking!

Don't buy Viking. Had bad experience. After few months tyre become thread almost gone and prone to lose control. Thread wear is very serious for this brand. Felt like China tyres I tried once before.
