Anyway you know my point,I've tried using iPhone 5 myself for 1 whole day, with 3g on,it can last me around whole day compared to my nexus 4,use like half day, need to charge, obviously some of you guys might root or anything, and might show me SOT of the phone, but iPhone being able to last longer than nexus 4 yet smaller battery is just so good, and yeah,I'm a huge fan of nexus series,I'm saying this based on my experience
*
truth is, i m very impress with iPhone 5. so much that i own one for about a year now blush.gif but my nexus 4 still my main phone. it's amazing the tiny 1440 mAh (iPhone 5) can some times last longer than my undervolt n4 with 2100mAh battery, especially in browsing and video playback.

i guess that is the advantage of having design own A6 chip, retina screen, IOS and everything that tied together by a single company.

but my nexus 4 still my main phone. battery not as great but enough for me to last thru the day, even most extensive usage. smoothness? seriously... my Nexus 4 is smoother. not easy to tell. but my Nexus 4 never lag once! (i solved the sometime chrome lag 0.5 seconds start in kitkat after i update to latest chrome).

with iPhone 5 (IOS 7), try open 10 or more app. double press on home. scroll thru list of app. quickly close a few by swiping it away. you will see minor lag.

my nexus 4, going to same process, won't break a sweat. i have not able to make my nexus 4 lag yet!

iPhone 5's A6 is running at 1.3ghz max speed and just 1gb ram. most of the time (99% for most user, may be 90% for power user?), you can't make it lag.

but comparison to nexus 4 at 1.5ghz and 2gb ram... i love the raw power that allow me to open as many app as i want, care free and still with excellent smoothness.

you can see the difference in power if you can do extensive memory value search in both phone. in those heavy computing and memory operation, the raw power of the phone stand out. (psstt.. that's how i 'overpower' all the games in my phone)

but main reason i m on nexus 4 and not iPhone is Android.... love the ability to change and compile almost everything in android.

but judging from latest IOS 7, my gf iphone 5 battery life seem like not as good as IOS 6..maybe due to new animation that added in ..

most likely due IOS7 "new" multitasking capabilities.. new for IOS... brows.gif

Oh ShXT!!!!! I didn't know that Factory Reset on Stock will wipe my Nandroid? WTF?  Nandroid is Missing in Action.
*
QUOTE(annoymous1234 @ Jan 30 2014, 12:04 AM)
it shouldn't..  hmm.gif
*
unfortunately, if you backup your phone with CWM, your nandroid backup stored in /data/media/clockworkmod/backups, and it will get wiped.

factory reset means the following get wiped:

/data is erased
/cache is erased

http://www.androidcentral.com/android-z-f-factory-reset

TWRP is a little smarter, it will store your backup in /sdcard. and factory reset will not wipe the following:

/system
/sdcard

i always have a copy of my phone backup in my PC. u never know...

Hmmm... somehow I thought CWM backup store in somewhere /mnt/shell/emulated/clockworkmod/backup?

if that is the case, may be your backup still there? laugh.gif

So, I am slowpoke... Just installed Dungeon Hunter 4...

Among other reason why I am late to this game is the ridicules permissions required for this game:

- Internet
- Record voice (??? why would the game want permission to record voice? team speak???)
- Get accounts
- Auto start in boot up (hate this...)

Took some time to remove those... but finally.. it's running on my Nexus 4

What's driver? Usb driver or phone driver? When i open device manager, cannot see any driver related to phone.
I did it before, still can't
*
i ran into the same problem today. after a bit of checking, 1 of the Windows 8 update caused my nexus 4 driver fail. so, so, i reboot to allow unsigned driver, install, reboot again. it's connecting again.

============= Unrelated stuff=============

New recorded Dungeon Hunter 4 video against mini boss like Diablo... now with music from Orbital! laugh.gif Running heavy 3D game and recording in the background? No problem. thumbup.gif

i did. but still takes quite some time. i was using only core 0. D:
*
it shouldn't take too long, i.e. 10 mins. but with most new game, you cannot simply search for the gem/gold value anymore. Instead, look for some item that are selling at some quite unique price, i.e.: sword selling at 451 gem. Search for that, change it to -999999. Buy the sword... voila! Be creative. biggrin.gif

Just wait for the Sailfish/Ubuntu OS flashable on Nexus 4. yawn.gif

Nexus brand sooner or later will be phased out by Google Edition. I believe the foreseen by those tech reviewer are coming real. Because based on the recent Motorola sold to Lenovo while keeping most of the patent by Google. I believe that Google want to take over the world using software but not hardware. So Google keep the software part(Android) to open-source and even Google smart enough to keep the Project Ara(hardware customization) for himself but open-source as well.

With the move Google recently made, I believe that the next Nexus will be the last.
*
on another news, google and Andy Rubin now working on robotic. then, wearable gadget, self driving car... i won't discount google on world domination with just software yet. sweat.gif

QUOTE(entinggi @ Feb 14 2014, 12:48 AM)
I agree.. Google edition will take over. I believe Google wanna to have more say in the OEM software. Standardize the software across most devices. I think the Nexus line will be more to the tablet line. I aint no expert but its just a hunch...

Either way, N4 is still one of the best dev phones around. I can see Devs using the N4 for quite sometime.

QUOTE(tjay_tj @ Feb 14 2014, 09:16 AM)
with this means that developers phone are officially EOL. still cant figure out which phone in the future are developer friendly or we need to pay premium for so called flagship phone but locked
*
wow... wow... wow... hold you horses... don't get ahead of yourself. sweat.gif

nexus already has an established brand of it's own. even if google not planning to continue the legacy (which we don't know that), best bet is they will sell off the brand to some other company.

Here is a detail changelog from 4.4.2 -> 4.4.3 by funkyandroid.com

https://funkyandroid.com/aosp-KOT49H-KTU84L.html

However the changelog did not contain changes in the kernel (since the source just went online awhile ago).

Here is the detail changelog for the kernel:

https://android.googlesource.com/kernel/msm...-3.4-kitkat-mr2

(from commit: a6edd5e -> commit: 2cae413)

Highlights:

1. Wifi driver update from prima: release v3.2.3.13 to prima: release v3.2.3.18
2. Touch firmware updated from (since JB) mako: touch: PLG224 firmware E001 update to mako: touch: PLG137 firmware E044 update (reverted)

There you have it... seriously not much changes from to previous update in term of kernel...

How is the new radio? Do you try?
Downloaded 443 yesterday, waiting more white mice try out first.
Lazy to revert if there any new serious bugs. laugh.gif

*Radio: saw some user posted, got GPS locking problem.
*
havent done any testing yet... just tweaking things here and there...

Kernel version = 3.4.0-perf-ga6edd5e-dirty

Dirty = i made changes to the kernel code, in this case, UV -175, calibrated the screen, tweak the RAMDisk's OnDemand governor, lower GPU idle voltage, etc

will simply fail since OTA update check your binary first before applying the update. if the binary MD5 sum is not match, update will refuse to continue
