Yes is true, cause last week i been JPN to register birth certificate for my daughter and staff informed me that gov already stop issue mykid. And back to previous plan, when 12 years old only can apply mycard. Really confusing.

My new born daughter was registered in late September. Was told that the Mykid is no longer used. As most of the government department required only birth certification, like Immigration Department issuing passport.

I was not being informed that the MyKid is out of stock or come to collect next year or so. They just told me that it is no longer in use.
Should I go for collection next year? I could not get any information from their official website regarding to this matter.

Mykid was never intended to replace birth certificate... It was a kind of a 'demo' card for previously new mykad that was made... And no more mykid unless some cronies needs extra money to make..
Yup.. That is what i was told by 1 of the jpn staff when i asked about mykid..
Dunno if true or not....

My husband just went and registered our new born baby boy in PJ. They told us the MyKid is not available anymore. Actually the MyKid is quit convenience instead of carrying the birth certificate, you can just carry the card everywhere.

Registered my girl's birth cert in late Feb, no more MyKid. I went to JPN Putrajaya to do so.

Pretty dumb to carry a birth cert around if you'd ask me. They rolled out the MyKid but never had the compatibility within them govt depts nor most institutions.

I never think it is dumb to carry a birth cert around you.

Yes, MyKid is smaller and convenient but if you are to register your kids for anything like insurance, banking or school, you still need the birth cert anyhow.

As I know the birth cert do have the MyKid number on the top right. You still need to renew the IC when you kids reach 12 years of age.

It was the government mistake to implement them without the proper study on the MyKid. Poor thing.

my wife gave birth in a private hospital in 2009 and the hospital take care of the registration. they ask for mine and wife's copy of IC and sijil nikah. within two weeks after giving birth, we got the birth certificate and my kid from the hospital not from JPN.

my sister in law, last month, give birth in the same hospital but now they told her to register herself to JPN Muar.

I guess the system has changed and it is better if we register byself then through agent (a.k.a hospital) for security reason.

I do not think that is likely because MyKid is controlled by Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara (JPN). How the heck the hospital can produce the MyKid to you!!?? shocking.gif

He mentioned birth certificate (not MyKid), where last time most hospitals used manually to write.

Nowadays everything so high tech, birth certificate also print with computers.

Hologramme security sticker, barcodes, printed and whatnot. Yes, it's getting better with technology innovation being implemented. Anyway, to help out those that are new pertaining this matter, do refer the followings:

How could they register the birth certificate on your half when you need to present the original IC for both parents? This shows the hospital and the JPN NOT following proper procedure. Correct me if I am wrong.

Do take note that if you lose the MyKid or it is stolen, JPN will not replace. Happened to a friend of mine. The explanation she got was that MyKid is a souvenir item, not the real documentation. Birth cert is the actual identification for your kid.

Same, when I registered my girl after a week in Feb, only birth cert.

So strange, JPN website indicates that it's up-to-date dated 25-Aug 14 and also indicated that application for MyKid is valid.

Seems a bit contradicting some kids have it and some others don't!

Same here.. lucky I stumble upon this thread. How now, birthcert only or got Mykid? According to JPN (Carrefour Building Seri Petaling) They said gomen no more give mykid.. pending for new 'system'. The birthcert itself is Mykid already, its the 12nos that matter. I'm confused now. rclxub.gif rclxub.gif rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

Super strange indeed... when I went to apply for my daughter's birth cert at Putrajaya, only birth cert given and was told no MyKid.

Does appear that depends on the officer we apply from different rules apply. In other words, suka hati dia orang

I registered my LO last month at JPN Jln Duta and collected the birth cert within 15 mins. As of MyKid, the officer told me that it's optional - whether you want it or not. I told the officer, yes and she told me to come back in a week to collect. After a week, I returned and collected within 5 mins. Good service!

I don't know if this is still valid. Anyone got their MyKid recently? Registered my son's birth in April 2014 and was told no more MyKid being issued. No other explanation given.

Now when I want to open a savings account for my boy, they said MyKid is required. But reading the comments here, it seems that the MyKid is an optional ID.

Think I'll try my luck at Putrajaya.

Collected my daughter mykid on Monday at JPN Kuching.

Tel no. 082-237 860

Call to enquire on the status of mykid before dropping by for collection. Card might not be ready in 30 days.

When my kid was born two years ago no my kid too and I went back 6 months later still don't have. Last moth I went the started it back and got the card yesterday. Funny the accept application on and off. Maybe depends on jpn budget as my kid priority is not high.

its definitely easier to bring mykid along with you wherever you go compared to a piece of A4 paper.

Actually what is de purpose of new borns / babies / toddlers having a mykid???

When I look at my son's mykid card, I saw two important datas:
1) name
2) date of birth/state ID/last four digits that will b his future IC no

So... wats de purpose of mykid???

Birth cert, big piece of A4 paper, once you get it, keep nicely, won't be using it much. I don't remember my kid's birth cert number.
MyKid, small, easy to carry, has future IC number. Used for registration of almost anything (clinic record, passport), MyKid number is useful to remember.

I was told that MyKid is not mandatory and can apply anytime from birth until 7 years old. Is this true?

I did mine at Bandar Tun Razak , but need to wait three months to collect the My Kid.

Generally i dun see much use for the My Kid:
a.) Birth Cert has IC number and details that you can use for banks and insurance, the other two important stuffs they need
b.) there is no identity that ties your child to the My Kid, no fingerprints no photos or anything. in the event that you lost the mykid, no one can verify that its your baby's. that's as good as the generic medical card u got from your company.

Yes, can come and do it at any JPN branches. Just bring along original birth cert of the baby/kid and you need to fill in a form for MyKid application.

If you want it fast, go to JPN HQ/State HQ or any distributed printing branches like at UTC (everywhere) and certain branches (I don't remember). You can get it within a day if there is no problem with the application.

Mind you all guys, MyKid is NOT compulsory to have. Birth Certificate is COMPULSORY.

Yes. You can just skip MyKid and do MyKad when your kid reach 12 years old. Birth Certificate should be good enough. But there are some sohai school/place deem the MyKid is compulsory and some customer come and complaint to JPN that why their kid doesn't have MyKid demanded by those places. JPN always will tell the customer that Birth Certificate is sufficed to do any registration because it is the valid documentation. MyKid is just a just a complimentary.

Its good to have MyKid card, especially when you travel local on flight. Easier way to identify your kid together with the boarding pass.
