imo from my observation so far rafael's presence is big...when we had smalling or jones at rb, valencia is mostly doing all the work...with rafael behind him the attacking threat pretty much doubled...neville beckham combo drool.gif

QUOTE(+Newbie+ @ Dec 27 2013, 04:00 PM)
A lot of Welbeck's strengths are not easily seen. His intelligent movement off the ball and high work rate creates space for himself and also for others. He is tall, fast, strong and links up play well.

Sadly his weaknesses, on the other hand are very obvious ones. For example, his finishing is very poor. It seems, he has improved that this year, but that remains to be seen in the long run. I hope his extra training sessions everyday have really made a difference.

He is also a bit sloppy, but he is still light years better than when he first came into the first team. He has improved in that aspect a lot.

That's why lots of people criticize him because they can see his obvious weaknesses, but we need to look deeper into his game to see his actual value.

That's not to say Chicharito is not good. He has his own qualities as well. His finishing is excellent. (Although I find it mostly to be brilliant movement coupled with brilliant ability to first time knock the ball into the goal. Ask him to run at goal and shoot and I have my doubts.) His movement is also brilliant. He's fast. However, he used to have a very poor all round game. I am happy to say, though, that he has improved his all round game. His technique is so much better these days and he is much more helpful outside the box now than he was in the past. But his all round game is still inferior to Welbeck's. Welbeck gets involved with the build up play so much more than Chicharito.

To compare them both, Welbeck is taller and stronger, and has a better all round game but poor finishing. Chicharito has better finishing, but has a poorer all round game, weaker and shorter.

Welbeck can improve his finishing. Chicharito can improve his all round game, but Chicharito will never be taller or stronger.

In summary, I hope United can keep both of them happy. United will do well to have both options as back ups to RvP and Rooney.

nice post there...pretty much sums up some United fans can see in Welbz...just to add the fact that Welbz could also drop deep like he did at times against hull also gave way for Rooney to do his work upfront...with Hernandez it's more one dimensional, which can work of course but maybe Moyes just doesnt prefer that for now
