hehe, finally got it! New X-Pro 1 user here! with 35mm f/1.4, Samyang 8mm f/2.8 Fisheye and EF-20. also bought the Match Technical soft shutter release & Artisan & Artisan leather strap at YL just now.

btw, the 23mm and 35mm what are the differences except for the focal length? i tested out the 23mm at YL Camera just now, it feels more solid and its a bit bigger. and also with the cool push the focus ring to AF/MF (took me 5mins to figure out why it was in MF haha)

I just got my X-E2 on Saturday, with Kit Lens. Will probably upgrade with 23mm and the 10-24mm in near future. Played with it for awhile and it is really quite impressive. Previously been using Canon 50D and G1X all the time, so here are some of my thoughts of the shortcoming of X-E2:

1. No tilted screen - it would have been perfect if there's a articulate screen on it to provide more options on creativity.
2. No built in ND filter - with the base ISO at only 200 (i know there's an expansion to lower ISO, but I'm talking about the general usage region) it is a little too high for broad daylight. Hence, if there's a built in ND filter it would have been very nice.
3. Base ISO 100 - I would prefer the base ISO to be 100, and expandable to ISO 50... somehow I often will use ISO100
4. Not enough customizable button - simply not enough! well this is just my personal problem. would glad to see myself being able to customize what to display in "drive" and "Q" button as well... then it would be a dream camera to use.
5. Weather seal - not a must, but if it has some minimal form of weather seal, i would be glad to take it for a shot in the drizzle.
6. Limited wifi functionality - new feature, expect it to improve over time. hope it will feature remote shooting, like what Canon is doing now.
7. Grip can be better - you really need to consider the optional hand grip if you want to shoot for long time or want a stable hold of the camera, especially if you are attaching big guns like 55-200mm.

To look at it, actually nothing major, probably is just that I'm used to certain things from my past camera. Will try to develop myself to adapt and explore more possibility of this new camera that I owned.

The bright side? The EVF is so good that I don't even miss my OVF for now. I don't do a lot of sports or tracking, so it is ok. Overall lighter and smaller package, speedy enough, AF is good, will share more about it after I abuse it for longer period.
Cheers!

after getting the x-pro 1 (moving from the 60D), the biggest thing I miss is also the articulating screen! I actually use it quite a lot for low angled shots and huge group selfies with my fisheye. I like the EVF a lot too, its really bright and it has all the info there (even the quick menu which was really cool, but i think it's easier to change just by looking at the screen). It lags when you move the camera quickly but honestly I don't see a problem with that as I too don't use it for sports haha.

I think their grip is meant to be like that to make the camera not too bulky like a DSLR.. for me i found it really awkward too to hold the camera after having such a nice grip on the 60D but I think it's not such a big issue, can adapt tongue.gif. I haven't had the chance to try the optional grip yet as they told me i can't attach it to my camera, only can see and touch. same with the thumbs up too.

the weight and IQ from fuji is really poisoning. but the autofocus is holding me back (i don't shoot sports all the time, but I love capturing actions for some instance), and no cheap telephoto lens too (for example i can get a good 200mm f2.8L from canon at around rm2k which offers excellent IQ and autofocus), same to the lack of good macro lens (the 60mm is nice and tiny, but has super slow autofocus that is a little too slow for daily shooting and only offers 1:2 magnification and the price is quite expensive, compared to what i can get with canon 100mm macro or tamron 90mm macro).

that said, it's tiring sometimes to bring heavy dslr gears everywhere even mine was just only 550D with a 70-200.

for me it's the same like that. but one day I just decided to just jump ship to Fuji after making up my mind and sticking with it. the logic of having a DSLR (in my mind of course) is if I can get so many lenses, and if I have the funds to, I will get them. a telephoto, a standard wide angle zoom lens, a fisheye, a big ass flash which is like 10x the size of the EF-20/EF-X20 flash. not to mention a big ass bag which will make me feel like i'm migrating to another country (also, as I travel a lot it's a big pain to travel around with my gear.)

why not just bring what I need for the trip? simple.. i always have this thinking that if I have the gear available, why not just bring all with me. who knows maybe I will see the need to use the 70-200 at an indoor function (yes, of course it popped into my mind that I will use it for maybe 1 shot or something). but always I will end up carrying a big bag with me to a dinner. Also there's a case of getting a good tripod and bullhead which can support the weight of my gear, which probably won't be light, won't be cheap & won't be easy to lug around.

now I go out for a simple dinner can just bring my billingham hadley pro with all my gears which is just 1 body 2 lens 1 flash for the weight of probably just the 60d body + 1 lens alone, and i have space in the bag for more stuff too (i was tempted to buy this Sirui tripod I saw at YL which can be folded but it didn't fit into my bag!).

I think it just comes down to the individual haha. I think even some people who can afford to fund both a DSLR system and a system like the fuji x series will have a hard time deciding to bring which camera for an event and end up bringing both! I have seen quite a number tourists while I was in Europe carrying a DSLR w/ a 24-70 or 70-200 and also carrying an x100/x100s/x-pro 1 with them, which i thought was pretty impractical as they will be super tired at the end of the day and not have fun on their holiday! (which is of course my opinion).
