Hi. Im considering between Raytech or 3M for my Proton Iriz. Can any sifu here advise me on the tint that have all these features:

1. Heat rejection
2. Security film
3. Jpj compliance (70%, 50%, 30%)

Im noob in this matter. The most important its legal. My budget is RM1.5k. Im in JB.
*
If you want legal it has to be 90% VLT tint for the front. Max allowed front is VLT 70%. Most cars front windscreen is already at 80 to 90% VLT without any tinting. Putting on 70% on front will bring it lower than the allowed 70%. If you go to good installers they will tell you this. The ones who want to rip you off will keep quiet hoping that you won't realise.

There is also no such thing as JPJ approved as JPJ does not and never approve products. They approve individual cars that is brought in for inspection and approval is only given to that car.

That makes every VLT 70% tint out there non JPJ compliance for the front and you install at your own risk.

Is there any brand offer VLT 90%? Highest VLT that I mostly come across is 70 to 80% VLT only.
*
Yes, I'm using Crystalline 90 for the front as I already know my car has a very dark glass tint. Pana G in Subang was also very sincere to ask me whether I want the legal or illegal option.

Did your position lag a lot when driving around? Or mispositioned often? How long does it get hold of your position?
I am thinking Huber Optik or 3M, need some feedback from users. I understand it is harder to detect smarttag, slower to detect.
I am thinking whether to do 70-50-30 now or later. If I opt to do it later, 1 month without tint. Do you think the shop would do 70-50 for the front and front side, then come 1 May do 30 for the rest?  doh.gif
*
If you are concerned about being legal then it should be 90-70-50. Unless you have crystal clear glass for windows, 70-50-30 will fail all test by JPJ as the original tint of the glass will bring the final VLT to below the compliant limit.

Yes, I am thinking of what is the norm for people to put up their tint. The tint shop straight recommend for 70-50 for tint, without taking into account for the glass VLT.
*
Unfortunately the norm is not compliant when put under the test. Recent viral video on the issue with Vkool says it all.

Hi,

is this really worthy or not? this promotion from solartintshop

solartintshop

VLT 57%
UVR 99%
IHR 68%
5 mil
RM1088 - voucher = RM588
*
With a VLT of 57% the only place where you can put it is the rear passenger and rear windows only. Not going to pass the 70% and 50% VLT including the original glass tint in the front and front passengers sides.

Hope to get some feedback from those who have installed 3M tints.

1) For FWS, if get Crystalline 70, would it be heat resistant enough as its TSER is only 50%.
2) For windows, Nano 70S vs 40S. TSER 50% vs 60%. VLT 66% vs 40%. Would Nano 70S be heat resistant enough? Coz Nano 40S is non-JPJ compliant.
3) For RWS, if Crystalline 40 (VLT 39%), would it be too dark when driving at night?

Headache... too many factors to consider. biggrin.gif
*
You guys must have really inefficient aircons if you are so worried about heat.

1) Crystalline 70 is not legal for front. 3M will tell you that but will install it if you insist on it. You might want to take 90 or their new product for the front. Can't remember the name. I'm using 90 for the front.
2) I'm using Nano 7s for the sides
3) Using Crystalline 50 for the rear as 40 is not legal (overall will be below 30% if you use 40 unless you have very clear glass to start with).

No issues with heat as the air con is suppose to do the job of cooling down the car and not the tint.

demetalizing, blade scar on glass, smart tag and etc  cry.gif

Appreciate if there is any shifus that used or experienced these few type to review.

None of those films are JPJ compliant once you factor in your car's natural glass tint. 3M installers themselves will tell you that their crystalline 70 is not JPJ compliant and will warn you before installing if you query them. Only their Crystalline 90 is compliant in the front for most cars. They also have a new film for the front that they consider compliant for the front.

Anything less than VLT 85 is not likely to pass JPJ for the fronts as most of our new car glass tint is already very dark.

Rear and side I'm using the same. For the front, I'm using Ceramic 75. No issue with Smart Tag for the past week of passing KESAS, Elite, Duta & LDP. Do let me know if you have any issues with Crystaline 70. I chose Ceramic 75 for VLT compliance with JPJ. But I note that IR is 97% for Crystaline 70. Ceramic is only 44%. Not too sure about Smart Tag but I presume it uses IR technology. So, with high IR rejection, would that block Smart Tag? My criteria for front is JPJ and Smart Tag friendly.
*
Crystalline series is not Smart tag friendly (3M will tell you that before you install and will recommend Ceramic if you need to use smart tag very often) but your Ceramic 75 might not be JPJ compliant either. Did you do a VLT test after it was installed?. I'm using Crystalline 90 on the front to be JPJ compliant. Ceramic 75 might pass JPJ if your front windscreen is as clear as the crystal glass you drink your wine from.

For 3M series only the Crystalline 90 (86% VLT) and the new Light Shade 80 (85% VLT) are recommended for the front to be fully JPJ compliant. Ceramic 75 has a VLT of 72% and as I mentioned before once you put it on car windows that already have a natural tint, it will drop below VLT of 70%.

I was informed it will drop below 70% ... a risk I'm willing to take  sweat.gif I forgot to ask for a test. Will get a tester when I get the time, just so I have a baseline.
*
hahaha... That is why I like the proper 3M installers. They will tell you if you ask whether it is compliant. I choose the 90 not just for compliance but also for my early morning Genting runs at the break of dawn. tongue.gif

Crystaline 90 also have smart tag issue? So unwind the window?
*
Just have small cutout on the top right of the windscreen to solve the problem. High IR rejection would mean smart tag is not going to work since smart tag is working on IR.

It is not a problem. It is a feature. Smart tag works on IR.. and if tint really blocks IR, then smart tag won't work. Any tint that claims to block IR but smart tag still works will be rather dubious in it's claim since it is letting IR through and not reflected as claimed.

Cut out at top right? Then stick the smart tag at there?
*
I don't like to stick the smart tag on the windscreen as it is very obstructive. I just hold it up against the screen on the top right corner that is cut out to the size of a credit card. I don't use smart tag daily so that is not an issue for me.

Hi, just want to ask do the tinted company tint the front windscreen outside or inside? Because recently I went to Raytech and saw they tinted the car front windscreen outside & as far as I know it should be inside. correct me if I'm wrong. Thks
*
They use the outside as the template/measurement to cut the film which you might have mistaken for putting on the tint. Tints always go on the inside.
