just curious

1) jpj compliance rating is 70% and 50% VLT

2) car tint films comes with VLT rating

3) physical windscreens and windows also has some level of VLT due to tempered glasses during manufacturing.

**for discussion sake, ignore preinstalled tint by car manufacturers**

so. from this forum here. we've been researching and recommending based on (2) tint rating in order to comply with jpj (1)

however, jpj inspection (not roadblock ya) measures (2)+(3), right?

so, for FWS, we choose 70% vlt film. but actual vlt will be lowered due to inclusion of physical FWS itself?

in short. we are more worried of roadblocks rather than inspection? biggrin.gif

thx

Just install as per your preference but dont be so dark that can attract the authority. For the past 9 years (my old car age), I haven't meet JPJ roadblock except Police roadblock. So that's my case.

But if want letgo the car and get puspakom inspection, even a slight higher than regulations of VLT will tear off by them, i mean got fail by them and ask u to remove it.

yeah that's my thought

eventually will fail at puspakom inspection cuz they measure glass+tint

PETALING JAYA: The road transport department (JPJ) has warned drivers of private vehicles against violating regulations on tinting their windows, saying that they may face a fine or jail time.

JPJ said that the new set of regulations, gazetted under the Motor Vehicles Rules 1991 in 2019, stipulate that the visible light transmittance for a vehicle’s front windscreen should be at least 70% and at least 50% for the front side windows. However, it said the rear side windows and rear windscreen may allow for 0% visible light transmittance.

Stay up-to-date by following FMT's Telegram channel
“Drivers who violate these regulations may be fined up to RM2,000 upon conviction or imprisoned for a period of time not exceeding six months for a first offence,” it said in a statement.

For subsequent convictions, drivers can be either fined up to RM4,000 or jailed for up to 12 months.

JPJ has issued a total of 108,428 traffic violation notices related to tinted windows since 2019.

According to JPJ, individuals who require tinted windows for safety or health reasons can apply for approval via the JPJ portal.

With all this talk about JPJ enforcement, referring to this news I presume JPJ has started operation already and over 100k people have been given the RM2k fine? Nobody here got the fine?

I read in another news (forgotten which one), it says that..

1) initial compound is rm300. but pay early will get reduction.

2) if failing to pay will get summon to court

3) once convicted, then get fine rm2k or jail term. subsequent offence is rm4k and jail term.

4) also, jpj got tolerance of 10% variance on tint reading before issuing compound.

so, you are not getting rm2k fine immediately.

looking good, is the 10% variance subjective to each roadblock personnel?

same issue on enforcement part for digital roadtax.... anthony loke said no need put physical road tax, but pdrm doesnt use devices to verify your roadtax at all. who's fault? bangwall.gif

if jpj can quantity 10% variance, then there must be a way to determine the number by jpj officers who carrying the device to scan your FWS+front windows tint readings. again, what if they dont carry the device? using eyeball? biggrin.gif subjective, unenforceable, disputable too.

I would just pay the rm300 saman.
Regardless of what tint u put, when comes to puspakom inspection, sure gotta cabut the FWS tint + the FSW ones as well. Might as well get the tint that u want that protects yr dashboard, your eyes and yr skin.

same thought. just pay the compound asap to get lowest amount (iinm, rm150), then settle. keep the car tint intact lor.

tints that violates the rules are those constantly visiting puspakom laugh.gif
