Yes because more easier to install and reduce peeling problem in the future.
We do not completely remove the door panel, we only loosen up the upper part only
For safety film it can hold stronger from the bottom.
*
There are one time use clips that break upon removal. No matter how careful, it is designed for 1 time use. So even upper part need to new clips replacement.

Those are cheap clips, but most shops don't care as long as it holds. That cause door panel rattle.

Volvo door trim is known to support graceful removal without breaking anything. BMW is garuntee to break some clips. Depends on brands.

It's basically depends on how skillful technician when lifting the upper panel.
But I can tell you that lifting the upper panel will ensure lesser problem arise in future.

Bear in mind, who want to make job difficult when they can install it without lifting up the upper panel.
*
Bear in mind you can make the job perfect by replacing the broken clips with brand new after installation.

You can reduce the damage, but you ought to break a couple of D2 clips, anyone removed the trim before will know. They are cheap anyway, I have 40-50 spare at home.

This is a improvement suggestion for you to improve your work quality. Take it positively and don't need to argue my friend.

Hi everyone, I'm looking for tint with budget around 1000-1500
1. Good heat rejection
2. JPJ compliant
3. No problem with GPS/smart-tag/rfid/phone signal
4. Selangor/KL area.

Looking at 3M, Llumar, Huper Optik and possibly Hamel? I read that VKool will block signal right?
*
You have to break the signals to 2 groups

- smart-tag on infra-red band
- GPS, rfid, phone signal on radio frequency band

All tint affect infra-red to to a certain extent. About half of the solar energy we feel as heat is infra-red, the other half are visible light + small fraction of UV.
To block the heat without making the tint too dark is to block as much IR as possible. The better/more expensive tint block IR even more, those with 97%+ IRR, you need to slow down to almost stop to pass with smart-tag, some toll booth will never able to pass. If you have smart-tag concern, get mid range tint with 85% IR Rejection. However new technologies like the rfid are moving away from infra-red, even the higher end TV started to have bluetooth based remote control.

All modern ceramic tints have zero affect to radio frequency. Just stay away from metallic film, you will be fine.

Although metallic tint has its advantage of reflecting the heat, it is no longer practical in 21st century. (you can feel the glass getting warm with ceramic film, glass is cooler with metallic film)
With metallic tint, when there are 11-13 GPS satellite found in clear sky, you left with 3-4 when got in the car. Yes, GPS still sorta work but location accuracy would be 10m radius instead of 1-2m radius. With that navigation software sometime confused and think you are at the next street in downtown.

Phone still works with metallic tint, but signal strength drops (even if the bar didn't drop significantly, the RSSI reading drops). This is typically non-issue because 4G is fast enough. You left with 10-15mbps inside the car instead of 80mbps+ when close to the cell tower, that's still pretty fast. Again, just get a ceramic film, then problem free.

Last note is most tint quote their IR rejection % in only 900nm to 1000nm range. Check out Xpel XR and XR Plus, the only tint around here that show the spec of both 900nm to 1000nm and also wider range 780nm to 1700nm.

What means by spec same? As mention by Solar Gard, tinted reputation maker. Different brand was using different measurement spec. A specially for IRR%, I believe some of shop didn’t tell you how this IRR% come? Which IR wavelength they measure? So IRR was always misleading if we didn’t look it carefully.

Below video for the reference.

https://youtu.be/ZfOMpDzXd18

Always test tinted film on the spot and compare them site by site. Refer to the spec given was not that accurate to tell the different.

Bro, the industry grade IR/TSER measurement meter Was cost about RM15k!
*
No need lah, now some china Taobao meter can measure wide IRR range already.

Playing with the meter while the detailing shop washing my car, they have 3 brands

Xpel XR Plus - 97% IRR, actual 97%
3M Crystalline - 98% IRR, actual 85%
Raytech RC - 98% IRR, actual 93%

All 3 their TSER are quite true to declared number, so like your video, better just refer to TSER.

Dont tint your headlight.. it tends to cracks over time.. opt to coating method.. cost u around rm100~rm150 per pair
*
Best is install PPF on headlight. Protect from stone and won't crack like cheap film, and it will self heal on small scratches.

there goes another rm35. looks like have to replace it again and put to headlamp. the old one was the first batch inner windscreen rectangle tag, worked flawlessly. too bad got to remove to install tint. thanks anyway.

heads up for those looking to install tint, looks like sech60/metal based tint might affect the touch n go RFID tag.

Xpel Prime XR Plus works with RFID behind the tint.

Xpel Prime XR Plus is a ceramic tint right? not metal based.
*
100% ceramic. What I like is they publish both 780-1700nm IRR and 900-1000nm IRR, while most only tell you 900-1000nm IRR. Measurement with meter also true to advertised value.

I have Xpel XR Plus. Got it just over 2K because I did full car PPF. Usual price is about 3K for XR Plus, and 2K for XR.

I wanna ask u after almost a year of usage, is this xpel good?

I am still deciding between xpel and vkool for my upcoming mazda 3 sedan, vkool is trusted but xpel by G Guard is mazda panel, I can one shot let them do all
*
dropped you a PM. G Guard service is very good, and they don't simply up sell you. It is base on your requirement and usage pattern.

If you want to see the workmanship of XR plus on real car, tell the boss, he will call me. I can drop by, since it is 15min drive away from my home.
