Hi, I have a Mazda CX5 to do tinting soon. I have the original Mazda skytint installed when I bought the cat, but honestly the heat rejection is not good so I have to use other tint.
1. Can anyone recommend om Raytech tint spec for best heat rejection, JPJ compliance, good security & smart tag friendly? Budget max rm2.5k. Just want to check with otai2 here first so that I won't be conned when I go to the shop later.
2. Should I tear off the original Mazda Skytint or install Raytech on top of the old tint?
Appreciate otai2 advice.

Today I went to a raytechcs shop (location undisclosed), went to see their quotation and recommendation, I say my budget max RM2.5K. What they quote me is : 1. RX (black) for 3 rear windows, 2. 2 RX normal front side door mirror, 3. and for windscreen, they quote me raytech 70 (?), I didn't remember the name though, but it has 78% VLT, that one I remember. I try to find this in raytech website but couldn"t find similar name.
Then I pay them RM50 deposit, book a slot in the evening. Unfortunately, I couldn't make it and when I try to refund the RM50, they refuse, saying it is in the system already and later big boss asking why customer cancel and bla bla bla. I told them I will be going oversea for 1 month and will only come back end of feb, but they still refuse to give me the rm50 and ask me to come back later for installation.
My question/comment is: 1. Is the tint they quote me really worth RM2.5k? Is the spec overkill? 2. I think I should be getting back my rm50, but since I didn't have time to argue more, I just told them I'll come back next time. Truth is, I think they are not customer friendly.

QUOTE(kitongti @ Jan 22 2016, 12:34 PM) If i were you.. i will never back to that place anymore.... in the system already my #ss..! True, maybe RM50 is not much, but it still money. I will be coming back to them if they just refund me back my rm50, but with this kind of attitude, plus with a very kerek manners when they talk to me (you know, that annoyed-like attitude when you are promised rm2.5k by a customer and suddenly the customer cancel their business with you), i will think twice to consider that shop.

QUOTE(fuzzy @ Jan 22 2016, 03:19 PM) This is not the first time I've heard really bad stories about RayTech, while bro Lord Gitsy's product might be decent, I think customer service issues like this probably kill whatever interest I have in this brand. Not sure why these stories continue to emerge from them.. Llumar, 3M and VKool offers similarly priced items so they just risk losing customers. Bro, the boss also talk with kerek attitude towards me, like I cannot afford the 2.5k when I cancel the installation. Truth is, I have other business I have to attend to. And they have no right to take my booking fee, they should refund me. I don't want trouble and I also short of time, so I just leave the shop without the rm50. Btw, do you think the spec they give me is worth rm2.5k? Or is that an overkill?

QUOTE(Lord Gitsy @ Jan 22 2016, 05:31 PM) Hi bro, I am sorry for your story! I hope I can make something to help you solve your problem. 1. If possible, I hope you can PM me your contact, let me do my best for you, for your refund. 2. I need to know which particular outlet you visit, so i know who is the one giving poor service to you. 3. I need to report to management on the customer service, because Raytech is really taking care on customer service. Thank you for your cooperation. Cheers, bro. Thanks to Lord Gitsy for contacting me. Really nice guy, trying to help me solve my problem. Lord Gitsy is going to help me get the receipt for my booking fee so that when I come back from oversea end of February, I have proof that I have paid the Raytech branch that I went the deposit and they will use the product and price that they quoted me earlier. He also clarifies that the branch is newly opened, hence the problem I faced. I'll update more when I get the receipt from Lord Gitsy. Hopefully I'll become a happy Raytech customer this end of Feb. Thanks again Lord Gitsy for contacting me.

Currently I am inclined to do it at Raytech, but will keep on doing market survey to see if I can get better deal somewhere else.

Hi bros, anyone here installed 70% VLT FWS, 50% VLT front side window, and 30% VLT for rear side windows and RWS? (Based on JPJ new rules?)
Will the car looks fugly with this tint setup? I googled image, some car looks ok, some car looks ugly. Now confused already.
What's your opinion?

QUOTE(lonely143 @ Jan 30 2016, 04:43 PM) Just look at those Vellfire or Estima. Depends on the car model and personal preferences. Black tint is ok if you apply above setup, dont go for those reflective otherwise it look funny My car SUV CX5. Not sure how it looks with the setup. Guess will tint all 50% VLT (except FWS 70%) to be safe

QUOTE(Lord Gitsy @ Jan 30 2016, 11:58 PM) Hi bro, normally it's depend on the car color. Normally the combination looks nicer on black or white color car Ya mine is silver aluminum color so probably will look ugly.

QUOTE(Lord Gitsy @ Feb 1 2016, 12:18 AM) hmm..need think probably if the car is silver aluminum color..but below sample picture looks okay too Hmm I guess if we put 50% VLT at front side window and 30% VLT on rear side window it would look weird.

Hi all, just want to share my experience and honest review on Raytech Window Tint which I installed recently. This is a quite long post so brace yourself.
I went to install raytech tint on my Mazda CX5 last Sunday, 21 Feb 2016 at Temerloh Pahang Branch. This is newly opened branch (just 2-3 months old), so I really have no idea how their workmanship is, but I've got no choice since I am currently staying in Temerloh.
Prior to installing the tint, I have discussed with the branch staff on the price quotation and specs, plus a big assistance from Lord Gitsy himself. Below is the spec that I installed:
FWS: Raytech Ultra 70 All side windows: Raytech RX Series (security film) RWS: Raytech RC series (Solar Tint)
As you can see, all of the tint is premium series from Raytech. I was told by Lord Gitsy that the price quoted by the branch was very good deal already. As I don't really have any price reference to the above specs for SUV sized cars, I really cannot tell if the price is good or not; however I do noted that it is way below the price displayed on Raytech tint booklet.
Anyway, I come to the shop at 6PM, and the job finished by 9.30PM. They have to tear my original stock Mazda Konica Minolta Skytint before installing Raytech tint.
Below is my review:
Workmanship: Workmanship was generally acceptable, I can see minor bubbles (1-2 on each window), and some smudges on the windows as well which I cannot clean ( probably chemicals/glue they used to install the tint). I was told by Lord Gitsy to let the tint cure for 1-2 weeks under hot sun, so I'll do that and see whether it will make any difference. He also assured me that I can come back to Raytech if the problem persists.
The only blot during installation is, a portion on one of my demister line (around 1-2 cm) got peel off when they remove the old tint, I can see it visually. I haven't tested the demister yet (tint still under curing process). I hope it is not too bad, I can accept if only that one demister line is not working, and the rest is still good. We'll see later.
One other thing, I actually wanted to install darker tint on all rear windows (Raytech has RX Black and RC Black series, which has VLT of 38%), however the Temerloh branch did not have this tint film in stock. I was a little disappointed with that.
Tint Performance: I went for a course in KL from Monday to Thursday, and my car was parked under scorching sun from 7AM to 5PM, so it was good condition to test the tint performance. When I enter my car, I noticed it was hot inside, but it was not as hot as before. I also understand, I parked my car for 10 hours under 36-40deg Celsius condition, so of course any car will get hot. However, once I started my air cond, it take less than 3 minutes for my inside car temp to cool down to an acceptable level. After driving a while, I did not feel warm at all, and even when I put my hand on direct sunlight on either my dashboard or my jeans, I didn't feel the heat. This is very important to me because with the old tint previously, me and my wife noticed that the spot which was hit with direct sunlight was very warm. Now, that problem is solved.
Overall, I'm very happy with Raytech heat rejection performance.
GPS/Smart Tag friendliness: So far, I have no issues with GPS and Smart Tag. All function perfectly. I am using the new smart tag though (the small/slim one)
Verdict: Recommended. Apart from the demister line issue and the branch not having the darker tint version, I am very satisfied with the window tint performance. I'm happy too with Lord Gitsy who has been very kind and professional in giving advice and assisting me in getting a good deal for the tint (I hope so hehe).
Disclaimer: 1. I am not paid nor requested by Raytech/Lord Gitsy to write this review. I merely take my time to write this review as to share my own experience and help forumers who wish to install Raytech tint, or undecided on which Tint they should go for. Also, this review is also as a thank you gesture to Lord Gitsy, who has been kind enough to assist me with the installation.
2. I have never installed other premium brand window tint, thus I have no reference to compare with. My review above is strictly based on my own observation/experience. Other brand maybe as good or even better than Raytech.

Hi guys,
As some of you has already PM me for the price quotation that I got for the Raytech tint, I just want to put some disclaimer:
1. Price is different for each Raytech branch. Do not compare my price with your quotation. Nego yourself first with the branch, and contact Lord Gitsy for advice on the price, whether reasonable or not. Then lock the deal/find another branch. 2. Do not install the tint if they offer you the retail price. 3. To remember that Raytech Temerloh Branch that I went was newly opened, the price that I got is probably promo price to attract customers. 4. Always install tint within your acceptable budget.

QUOTE(Ginny88 @ Feb 28 2016, 09:45 PM) After 5pm I don't expect the sunlight to be hot. What about driving in mid-afternoon? Driving mid afternoon, my jeans or seat does not feel warm at all, but the dashboard is warm though. But overall car temperature is cool enough thanks to the air cond, at least better than before.
