3M Crystalline 40 vs Scotchshield 40

both same spec just with additional thickness for security. Is it worth to get the security film? I heard its not worth it because if a thief have enough time and determination he is gonna break your window in the end anyway

They have the same requirements!

Just that, JPJ only check via enforcement, PUSPAKOM is 100% mandatory.

So, If you buy a brand new car, spend RM3000 on top range tint, when come time to sell, you will need to throw away the tint before the new owner gets the car.

Tint resellers in Malaysia wont tell you that PUSPAKOM will almost certain fail you if you put 70%, 50% and 30% tint on your car.

That's because the glass for your car from factory is not 100% clear, around 10-30% tinted. Which means, even if you tint 70% VLT for the front windshield, you are getting around 50% VLT, and PUSPAKOM will fail you, and tear off your tint.
*
There's a post few pages back where a guy sent his car to PUSPAKOM for checking and it passed despite the VLT levels being lower.

here. That's no where near to 90, 70, 50. Link is still alive if the picture is not shown
QUOTE(Beach_Boy @ Jun 5 2018, 11:58 PM)
puspakom checks all the window (except for that small triangle part)
here's the report from a very recent inspection, front crystalline 70, side 50,(the tint's 8 year old already though)

Hi bois, just received my car today and planning to get a new tint ASAP. Been scrolling through the thread but not enough time to understand every single of it. Can I get suggestion for an Outlander 2018? Alrd came with factory fitted security tinted - not sure about the specs but I believe it's Lumar brand. So, I was thinking to add 1 more layer to it.

Mainly to add :

Heat rejection
Darker tint - so ppl can't really inside. Don't bother about JPJ or roadblocks. ( But somehow there's a brand that covers summon iinm right?)

Is it possible if I use different dark % for front sides and rear sides? EG : rear sides want darker than front so can easily see side mirrors. Can you guys recommend me good, cheapest brand? Not lowballing, but if I can get a good RMxxx worth of tinted instead of RMxxxx, why not I go for better price, right?

Touche.

can try hamel if you want good budget tint, or huper optik will be better, its not cheap but still cheaper than 3M

Just a quick one, for a sedan, what is the best IR rejection that I can get for a reasonable price? Can recommend the shop, brand and model of the tint?

Budget should be below RM2k, 1k is preferable though. Do I need to remove my old tints? The factory and add-on tint are attached
*
3M crystalline offer 97% IR but over RM2K for sure

Hamel Platinum series is 95% IR, RM1399

for front windscreen below 95% is recommended if you use smart tag otherwise will have problem passing through. you can ask the shop to leave a non tinted area if the tint is over 95%

I asked a couple weeks ago but no one replied, so here goes again...

Does anyone have experience with the local brand HyperGard? 5 year warranty and the solar rejection seems a bit high, 95% front 80% all other sides. Supposedly JPJ compliant. RM1.7k
*
go for Hamel Platinum better.... 95% all sides, 70% VLT front and 50% other sides, RM1399

What's the best tint for heat rejection (TSER)? 3M / VKOOL / HUPER?
*
3M crystalline series but not cheap and smart tag signal won't be able to pass through (97% IR blockage). But most 3M branches have a way to solve this

TSER 56% is for which vlt?70,50,30?
*
for all sides

this is what they told me i dont know how true is it. but so far i got no complaints about the heat rejection, and we know its quite hot these few days in KL/Selangor

it seems the front photochromic film is working as well, noticed its a bit darker during daylight or under strong lighting

You got it for RM 1399? Did they charge you to remove the old tint? They wanted to charge me RM80 and refused to waive it. Grrr...

I asked for the TSER at the setia alam branch but they said is somewhere between 52 to 56%. If all sides 56%, i think is better than haverkamp...
*
yes 1399 for platinum series. No remove old tint because mine is new car

Seems unlikely that all sides will have same TSER even though different VLT.

Unfortunately their website doesn't give enough details specs. Only saw this:

[attachmentid=9975668]

I'm always skeptical of film brands which don't give details specs.
*
oh well but their price is reasonable given the specs, and i'm satisfied with the service and quality so far

If you want very good quality non famous branded tint... I can recommend this shop if you're in KL. Used it since Sept last year on my new car and right now I still feel the tint is doing its job, and no bubbling as well. It's sputter tint.
