What are the 'higher' standard tints and how much do they generally cost?
*
Normally VKool is priced higher than 3M, Llumar, Hamel, etc
For example, for windscreen tint only, VKool priced is from RM1200 to RM1500 while 3M, Llumar is between RM800 to RM100 or so.

Price depending on type of car.

Hey where do you all get your vkool tint in klang valley?

Is the vkool kepong shop an official partner?
*
NVK Interior
68G, Wisma PK 1, Jalan Loke Yew

NVK Interior is the distributor for VKool in Malaysia.
Look for Alex Chin.
I did my VKool V40 there

HAMEL okay or not ya? price seems cheap and got long warranty.
*
Which Hamel model ya?
If you go for Hamel Royale, the price is equivalent to 3M Crystalline or so
My CX-5 is on Hamel Royale for almost 4 years now (next year CNY).
So far, I'm very satisfied with the performance of the tint.
Workmanship-wise, the installer at Seksyen 15 Shah Alam did a great job and I do not have to go back to them after the installation.

Only early this year I changed the windscreen tint to VKool V40 (under insurance due to replacement of crack windscreen) as I want darker tint from the 70% VLT of the Hamel Royale

Just asked Totalgard unfortunately they do not open on weekend, that's kinda weird for such business not to open at weekend or at least Saturday. Anyway I am not available on weekday for next few weeks so I have to resort to other brands which is around RM 1k.

Currently based on my own research I have narrow down to Hamel and Lavish Films which have workshop in PJ and their tint can provide around 50% TSER at RM1K range. Anyone has any experience on these 2 brands especially long term reliability? Or have other affordable brands to recommend? TQ
*
I can't vouch for Hamel Gold series but I have been using their top range Hamel Royale since early 2018 on my CX-5
I did mine at their Shah Alam Section 15 branch, and their workmanship is top notch.
Only early this year I changed my front windscreen tint to VKool V40 as I did change the original cracked windscreen using my windscreen insurance coverage, hence I change the tint also.
The rest of the windows are still using Hamel Royale and after almost 4 years, I did not notice any drop in performance or discolouration at all.
The rear windscreen tint also doesn't have any bubbling like those cheap tint

Would like to ask, is your phone signal / smart tag / GPS signals affected after using the front windscreen VKool?
I opted for Hamel last time bcos it is nano ceramic which shouldnt affect all these signals, but since the front change to VKool, I would like to know does it affect these signals?
*
Definitely affected.
Really have to slow down and open the side window when passing Smart-Tag lane as some toll plaza like DUKE, it won't detect my thick smart-tag reader.
On other Smart-Tag lanes like NKVE, I really have to almost stop before the barrier before it can detect.

The GPS on my Thinkware F800Pro dashcam also take 5-10 minutes before it can lock to the signal.
Phone signal not so, but Waze on my iPhone X sometimes have issue

OK thanks for the input.

So meaning if next time i need to retint my front windscreen, need to avoid VKool and opt for those non metallic films
*
Up to users biggrin.gif
Some installers cut off certain area where users likely to place their smart-tag readers and install a non metallic tint on that small area

Anyone here tried Llumar tinted ATR20 for whole car windows? Wonder VTL21% will looked nice on white civic car or not, and will it difficult to see during night time?

Now dilemma between go for 35% or 20% VTL on whole car.. in term of looking nice and viewing at night.

Heard some people said if too dark tinted, the car will looked like lala style also.
*
Very dark tinted on white car will looks so obvious
Easily will attract JPJ or mata-mata tongue.gif

BTW wanna ask, is V-kool elite still having problem with GPS reception?

My last experience was like 10-15 years ago, where the blockage of GPS signal was driving me crazy  tongue.gif
*
I'm using V-Kool V40, which is much darker than Elite with about +70% VLT.
No issue with phone GPS reception, but my Thinkware dashcam takes about 5-10 minutes to lock to GPS signal, compared to 1-2 minutes without tinting

anyone can recommend a place to claim warranty on chipped but not cracked windscreen?
Want to change along with degraded performance tint.
My car is a 2021 Mazda Cx30.. still under warranty.
*
Your windscreen coverage is under which insurer?
If MPI by Berjaya Sompo, replace the windscreen at Berjaya Body & Paint and do the tint outside and submit tinting claim for reimbursement.

If not under Berjaya Sompo, call your insurers and ask them to provide list of windscreen panel shops

Hi mind sharing if you are using Elite for front and V40 for the rest? How much you tinted whole car?
*
I'm only using V40 for front windscreen.
It cost RM1.4k just for the front windscreen, but I claimed it from my insurance windscreen cover.
The rest I was still using Hamel Royale security tint at 30% VLT.

Phew! Finally came to the current end of the thread.

Firstly thanks all for sharing your valuable knowledge and honest reviews.πŸ™‡πŸ»β€β™‚οΈπŸ™‡πŸ»β€β™‚οΈπŸ™‡πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

After contemplating the 378 pages, I am leaning towards VK for the Corolla Cross.

FWS : V 55
FS & RS : V30
RWS : V30

Really appreciate if fellow users, SA or (anyone for that matter) could comment about the following points-

1. You guys think the configuration can detect Smart Tag? Mine is the old bulky one. Yes I dont mind slowing down at the gate or holding the smart tag close to the windscreen.

2. More importantly, confirm no issue with phone GPS connection?

3. Would prefer darker one than the 35.8% VLT of the V30 for RWS. Any advice from sifus? Is there a V20 or V10?

I am in Setapak area. Can anyone recommend where I should go for a good deal and decent workmanship?

Planning to collect the car tomorrow and straightaway go tint. Not really in a hurry tho.

Thanks in advance. Such great thread *thumbsup*
*
I'm using VKool 40 for my front windscreen.
I did my tinting at VKool distributor, NVK in KL
On certain SmartTag toll like DUKE, can't really detect at all using my bulky SmartTag.
But on NKVE, it can detect my SmartTag if I placed it touching the windscreen

I was told that cx5 comes with factory tint. How does their factory tint perform if it’s compared with the good ones in the market?

The front windscreen tint is a piece of sh*t! mad.gif
I replaced mine within 1 week of collecting the car

Guys for V Kool - are you able to use smart tag and Waze inside the car with V Kool installed?
*
Using VKool V40 here.
Waze on my iPhone X not much issue, but GPS signal for my Thinkware F800Pro dashcam take about 5-10 minutes and maybe longer before it can lock the signal
But SmartTag, have to really slow-down or can't detect at all

Just had my myvi tinted with V-Kool elite, any way to check if the built in smart tag still functioning without going through the toll? doesnt want to cause a jam LOL
*
Have to try and error
I'm using V-Kool 40, and the thick SmartTag (2nd gen) will not work for DUKE toll, but can still work on NKVE (but have to drive very slow 5-10km/h

Guys, can you recommend a good tint for Toyota Alphard? Currently Im using V-kool Elite (windscreen) + other cheaper tint on the sides and rear on one my car. V-kool elite definitely is a trusted product, but I would also like to hear from others brand and specs.

I started to survey and found a shop offer me Vkool Elite (windscreen) + REM 55 or REM 40 (sides + rear) for RM2300. Anyone what brand is this REM 55? Don't think it is a V-kool product. Another shop quoted V-kool Elite 96 (which i never found this anywhere on the web) + nano ceramic for the rest for only RM1300. Such a big difference, the shop claimed the nano ceramic brand is actually an American brand.
*
I doubt the last shop is using authentic V-Kool
Just to tint the front windscreen of my SUV using V-Kool 40 already cost me RM1,500 (luckily insurance claim)

Put aside the jpj/puspakom compliant factor, which one has better heat performance?

1. VK55 (FWS) + VK40 (front side)
2. V-kool Elite (FWS) + VK40 (front side)

I got the quote for both combo above, the #1 is higher price by rm500 compared to #2. Is VK55 better performance than Elite?
They told me VK55 is latest Solitaire series as compare to Elite which is Serendipity series (older model).
*
Why don't you just go for VK40 all around?
I'm using VK40 for FWS for 3 years already (although changed to new tint in March from windscreen replacement) and quite pleased with the performance
As the above comment, for VKool tint, the darker the tint, the more expensive it becomes

My quote from Tint-Shop was different. Only Elite 70/73 was cheaper by $500. VK55/40/30 were the same price.
*
I stand corrected.
Yes you are right.
The Elite is Rm500 cheaper, whereas VK55/40/30 should be the same price
