You have to break the signals to 2 groups

- smart-tag on infra-red band
- GPS, rfid, phone signal on radio frequency band

All tint affect infra-red to to a certain extent. About half of the solar energy we feel as heat is infra-red, the other half are visible light + small fraction of UV.
To block the heat without making the tint too dark is to block as much IR as possible. The better/more expensive tint block IR even more, those with 97%+ IRR, you need to slow down to almost stop to pass with smart-tag, some toll booth will never able to pass. If you have smart-tag concern, get mid range tint with 85% IR Rejection. However new technologies like the rfid are moving away from infra-red, even the higher end TV started to have bluetooth based remote control.

All modern ceramic tints have zero affect to radio frequency. Just stay away from metallic film, you will be fine.

Although metallic tint has its advantage of reflecting the heat, it is no longer practical in 21st century. (you can feel the glass getting warm with ceramic film, glass is cooler with metallic film)
With metallic tint, when there are 11-13 GPS satellite found in clear sky, you left with 3-4 when got in the car. Yes, GPS still sorta work but location accuracy would be 10m radius instead of 1-2m radius. With that navigation software sometime confused and think you are at the next street in downtown.

Phone still works with metallic tint, but signal strength drops (even if the bar didn't drop significantly, the RSSI reading drops). This is typically non-issue because 4G is fast enough. You left with 10-15mbps inside the car instead of 80mbps+ when close to the cell tower, that's still pretty fast. Again, just get a ceramic film, then problem free.

Last note is most tint quote their IR rejection % in only 900nm to 1000nm range. Check out Xpel XR and XR Plus, the only tint around here that show the spec of both 900nm to 1000nm and also wider range 780nm to 1700nm.

Good explanation bro. That’s why I invest to this meter, almost full range of IR measurement. This meter cost me around RM4k!

And the Bruxsafol film I’m offering was signal friendly, is their patent nano coating technology. Of course, I do have metallic coating film as well.

Why are all the posts only focus on few very premium and expensive brands of window tints here? I thought this thread is about all car tint related posts.

Multiple questions and requests on cheaper and lower budget tint are simply ignored. If so can we rename this thread as premium car tint so that people with lower budget can just ignore this thread?

Try my brand, Bruxsafol, below 2k for Sedan, signal friendly. Quote on very high VLT, 75%, my TSER was 43%. Is lower then Vkool n 3M, but signal friendly plus the cost damage not that high.😀

Importantly, all film direct from German with laser homologation for quality assurance. Bad is, only at JB. PM me if you interest. Warranty at least can got to 3 years. Quality wise was stable, my car until today, about 3 years, still cool. After test for 3 years, we just decided to bring in.

Cost was attractive as we are direct from manufacturing.

Ceramic coating quoted too expensive n it is overrated. U can get the solution cheap from lazada n make the coating yourself less than 100. Some shop can do the coating for u less than 500. It has minor scratch resistant effect. It is not scratch proof

If wanna protect from scratch, go for seal healing paint protector film, is transparent, will auto healing for scratch under hot sun or Just pour hot water on the scratch area.

Please refer to below YouTube

Pricing sure lower then the current mark rate with the film with same grade. Bruxsafol PPF film was more clear then then competitor film. PM me if interesting.

The spec offered can get different branded brand same spec  but 30% cheaper. Not sure the 30% extra price will be paid for the tint or to cover the fancy showroom.

What means by spec same? As mention by Solar Gard, tinted reputation maker. Different brand was using different measurement spec. A specially for IRR%, I believe some of shop didn’t tell you how this IRR% come? Which IR wavelength they measure? So IRR was always misleading if we didn’t look it carefully.

Below video for the reference.

Always test tinted film on the spot and compare them site by site. Refer to the spec given was not that accurate to tell the different.

Bro, the industry grade IR/TSER measurement meter Was cost about RM15k!
