Can explain the points no 2.which brand? Or just simply tembak?
*
I am solar control window film seller as well, so not good to condemn or disclose other brand because I am speaking on overall.
My elaboration is based on 10 years experience in this industry

and my company product is well know for performance, durability as well as PREMIUM PRICING tongue.gif

My best advise is if you can afford solar control window film more than RM2k +++ go for reputable brand/international

There are so many tint shops now and I sometimes wonder if they make additional money by putting inferior tint. Just had my front screen tinted and I feel that it’s somehow not worth the price I am paying for
*
The perfomance on the film are vary from material and spec
Moreover only tint the front windscreen will not help much as the heat is coming in from others window

Finally what is your expectation on the film?

Bought a M2 from kepong few mths ago, being recommend by the SC for these packages.. said to be nearby kepong only..

Have choose the rm900 (after disc rm500) for saloon, 7 years warranty, afterwards only need to went to ss2 there ( opposite petrol station only ) for the installation and query..

Since the brochure stated there IR reject should be 70%.. however after installation, the car still feel hotter compare to my old car which have been tinted for almost 7 years..

Once call to argue with person in charge, Joanne, she stated that they don't have the tester for testing the IR, darkness, for the film.. ( what the hell they are talking for don't have tester for a professional shop)

Go to the shop directly, force their installer come out and check , finally come out with the tester, unfortunately, the tester measurement range can only use on the untinted films, not on the tinted window, ( fine) , once the installer test on the same film, the meter reading is around 50% IR rejection only, compare to 70% as stated.. never mind..

Second , they have a lamp heating tester in their workshop, which can be used to try different tinted film , have tried in front of the film and touch on the glass, feel less warm, however, when I ask them to try on my car window with the same lamp heating tester, you can started feel very hot in few seconds ... Then the installer explain that the glass they are using is much thicker than the car ... ( Fine)

But once I say I can bring my old car go for testing, due to totally different heat you can feel inside the car under the hot afternoon, the installer can give the following answer , the car which is very old one, their windows is come with UV rejectionΒ  ( UV rejection, is it same with heat rejection or IR rejection?? )

So, finally ,I try to call back Joanne, to tell her these things ( since every time appointment also can't meet her up) , tell her that, you are
Not giving the customers satisfaction on the quality you have promise , which is only 50% of IR rejection instead of 70% IR rejection tinted film installation , and saying she also know nothing due to the products they buy from the supplier is giving the same details to them, and they only warranty for bubbled film only, not the misleading films provide by the supplier.. (omg, how ridiculous can that be.. )
From no tester, I can found the tester from the installer..
From older car, they can tell you that older car have UV window glass that can reject the heat..
From 70% IR rejection, reduced to 50%+ of IR rejection..
Through the phone conversation with Joanne, being said that I am the only one customer who make complaint on this kind of IR rejection and heating problem.. she is not able to settle this problems for customers.. zz
I suspect that, this 3M authorised dealer are using a lower quality films nowadays, since I can saw that , other than a few of 3M printed
Box, mostly of the film's boxes are 'clean' in their store..
So ,would suggest those tinted films finders do check with their nearby films installer for further checking and comparison , so that you won't need to go so far for warranty later or paid the money without satisfaction..
*
There is a test machine can test together with window to get VLT, IR and UV
I believe they selling you a low end film and the way they handle your case is so unprofessional
This normally happen on certain brand DEALER

Actually when they advertise IR at 70% and the tester reading should be at in between 65-70% and not 50% as you see.
You can file dispute with tribunal which is misleading the customer and request for upgrade or refund

Look at V-Kool to compare as well whereas the price is above this 2 product

This is recommend by the car sales , we won't know who and where they from after the installation as I stated earlier..

The PIC also say that I am the only one who complaint about the heat problems since I am comparing with my car which have been using for almost 7 years.. the different is obvious when I bring my colleagues .. if not I won't go there to complaint and get nothing ..
They say they only given the warranty of 7 years for the bubbles problems..
The IR problem is non of their problem since they just getting the products by their suppliers and install only.. warranty is not covered for different IR or other than bubbles..
May I know where can I file the dispute or make the complaint about the problems at least to get upgrade or refund ??

This as you previously mentioned. You should take picture when it show 50% instead of 70% as advertised in the brochure to suppport your case.
Many dealer always sell home brand/local brand to end user and claim it as international brand.

You may try write official complain to 3M Malaysia

As I have mentioned earlier, the PIC stated in the phone that they don't have the tester until I go their shop directly , have been going there for at least 2 times, Useless until the last time, after I complaint to the car seller, she pass me the PIC number to contact her directly.. but it is hard to describe in short here..
And I am not using 3M tint, can I still complain to 3M Malaysia ??
*
3M authorized dealer but not using 3M film?

Yeah I figured that TSER and VLT are closely related. But I wish to minimize the TSER while keeping to JPJ compliant VLTs. But reading your post now you're saying that for it to be compliant the VLT of the tint must be 90% which implies that the FWS that come with the car themselves have VLT of about 80% already. I didn't know that.

How are so many people so brazenly willing to flout the VLT rules? Aren't you guys concerned that you will get pulled up, issued with a summons, have your tint torn down?
*
If you really want to have 100% guarantee then follow the JPJ compliance spec which is 70% 50% 30%
If wish to go darker against JPJ rules, 50-60% for front and 40% for the rest should be safe bet

The above recommendations is based on my years of experience in V-Kool
I'm using full V-Kool 40 for my Honda City and never face any block during day/night drive

There are different grades of tint in the market. Even under one brand, they might have different grades depending on price. Look at the specs and you will see the difference.

The top grade would be 2k+
Middle to good would be 1k - 2k

Dunno about those super cheap ones like 199, 299...

Also beware of inflated specs.
*
Beware those sell 199, 299, 399
Performance will drop very fast and lot product problem will occur such as

Bubble
Discoloration
Fade and so onnn

Those is still claimable under warranty provided the shop is still doing the business

those super cheap tints are normally used for applying 2nd layer of darkness

high quality tints are usually 30% VLT at most (70% darkness)

For some ppl, like me, feel that is not enough, so we have to add another layer on top of it, which is the super cheap tint to achieve the desired darkness (95% darkness for me)
*
His experience is speaking the truth because to reduce the cost as the purpose of the 2nd layer is to make it darker
For example you did V-Kool Elite on 1st layer and 2nd layer use cheap dark film will last longer even it is double layer

REMEMBER do not put high end window film on top of cheap film

when will v-kool produces darker tints? hmm.gif so far i only see 30% vlt at max

all my cars been using v-kool for the past 15 years, hopefully something darker can be released soon rclxms.gif
*
Thanks for for many years of support. I believe in the future V-Kool will invest on lower VLT film to cater all the market needs
ATM the darkest we have is V-Kool 30 around 35% of VLT

To others lowyat member, you can always use V-Kool spec as the benchmark to compare others window film in the market.
No need to compare the price because V-Kool is most premium among all the windows film in Malaysia

Hi guys, need some advises here. Is it normal for the tint to show some blue-ish color like this? The dealer is claiming it to be the UV effect.

The tint might not be fully cure yet
How long since the 1st installation?

It could be affected by the color film and windows as well
