no, i said cable must be present in order to activate SLI/Crossfire and this only applies for Alienware M18x/18. Y510P/410P is more likely a plug and play setup.

welcome back to the thread. currently, there is no suggestion changes made to fit your sister's criteria. newer gen processors are still a long way to go.

i will prefer to take MSI. its a little more cheaper, easy disassembly, anti-glare screen and thicker than Lenovo Z510 (better ventilation).

as for Lenovo Z510, it is lighter, has backlit keyboard and better aftersales service.

ASUS and Acer comes with more worse spec and rather pricey (ASUS), not really recommended.
and yes, you can change the Lenovo's HDD.
