QUOTE(puppydogpoo @ Dec 18 2013, 08:58 PM) That's right no problems here. you're just new to the 'peugeot way' of transmission programming. you'll get used to it and maybe even like it (i personally don't like cvt cos it is really too smooth for my personal liking). don't expect super smooth shifts all the time though as the french like to 'feel' the gear changes unlike cars from other brands.@SKYjack Thanks for the info on warranty. I will check with the service manager Will be going back to kota damansara service center this sat. Some items needed fixing. After 5 days of driving the car, I would say that the 6spd gearbox is definitely not silky smooth. Should I get it checked? @jaraychan so fast noticed it? Clarifying the gearbox comment by myself: - When accelerating, the car feels great, no doubt. - Until reaching 3rd or 4th gear however, the car feels a bit reluctant a bit "loose". When driving in tiptronic mode then there is no such feeling. - When slowing down quickly, the car feels reluctant to drop gears sometimes, resulting in a bit of dragging. - When changing speeds regularly (fast/slow/fast/slow), the car is sometimes reluctant to drop gears, and sometimes reluctant to engage the next gear. - When starting off from a standstill (0-30kph range), the car feels reluctant to increase its speed when gradually applying pressure to the accelerator. Again, no such problem in tiptronic mode. Today, the engine kept its RPM at about 4-5k for a while even after i let go of the accelerator pedal. Anyone else experienced this before? I think the car did slow down though... Not entirely certain what happened... Will see if it happens again. I'm not trying to stir up trouble. Just curious about the normal behaviour of the 408 turbo. On the whole I am happy with the car. And also I am not really a car person and don't know much, so I may be mistaken or ignorant about many things here... Thank you for everyone's patience and understanding |

QUOTE(SKYjack @ Jan 14 2014, 09:10 AM) 2.1K is the total service price, out of which 1.3K is for ATF. 1.3K just for ATF is still pretty high. Bro lowpro might have some inside knowledge on this. May be he can enlighten us! been ages since i have been back in here. here's some news. the atf for those 6-speed boxes have come down already and it is now around rm180 per litre. but some outlets still have stock of the oil at the old price. |

QUOTE(SKYjack @ Jan 20 2014, 09:51 AM) Altis and Civic no match for our 408t in power, handling and feel. I was shocked how cheap Civic's dashboard looked. The plastic looked and felt cheap! Focus may have better acceleration than 408NA. Although both cars are about equally powered, Pug may be heavier and response from power shift GB of Focus is better than our CVT. Interesting to note, you feel the handling of Focus is not as good as 408t. even in the new altis, i'm not knocking it due to bias here though, it really does not seem like it commands the price it is sold at. i jumped into it, it felt small, really small compared to a 408. it was narrow and headroom did not convey an impression of space (but then again, corollas are never known for spaciousness). that alone makes me feel like, it was already short changing me. apart from that, the design of the dash (very 'today' but may date easily later on), the materials used could be better for something that costs more than a 408 2.0 which i think retails slightly below 100k now if with offer (do correct me on this if inaccurate). Of course it is not equal field to compare THP with NA. But I feel price bracket is an important issue. It boils down to finally what you are getting for the money! This is where the 408t is supreme, beats all competitors hands down! I can understand 408T being your 1st choice,go for it! Air-con on the Pug is not that strong. It does take quite a while before it gets cold, especially on a hot sunny day. A good tint helps. for the 408 2.0, what i feel will improve sales and improve that model's public acceptance (it already has a very reliable EW10A+) is the quick introduction of the china facelift which comes with a 6-speed auto. that alone will increase the 2.0's desirability by leaps and bounds imho. |

QUOTE(SKYjack @ Jan 21 2014, 09:51 AM) Actually I also confused already la. I thought that was a new design but didn't find any info. On searching more, found this. This is the facelift. No idea is NAZA will bring this. the facelift will come first. no date has been set for introduction yet tough. an all new body change will take some time considering that the french are still running tests on the development model currently. my personal estimation for a full model change (FMC) should be around 2 years time, 3 years max.http://www.cbt.com.my/wp-content/uploads/2...1142184cafb.jpg So if the new design is to come in the future, that will be great. 3 - 4 years from now I'll be ready to change to that. However like I said, I could not find any more info. For all we know it may be just a design in the books. In which case too bad, cos it's such a beauty! |

QUOTE(mtbk3 @ Jan 27 2014, 10:15 PM) Hey Guys, left pull i believe is no longer an issue in the 408. my 2.0 doesn't have this problem.Previously i read about some coolant issue with the car. May i know what coolant is this? What is it for? Really noob here. And also, i remember about the "pull to left" issue. What is the cause for this? How to rectify this? Thank you very much. |

QUOTE(SKYjack @ Feb 9 2014, 04:54 PM) the 6-speed aisin boxes are not cvt. they're torque converter transmissions. but peugeot's transmission programming has slightly different character from japanese. guarantee not as smooth as japanese. it is something to get used to. |

QUOTE(SKYjack @ Feb 9 2014, 09:25 AM) You seem very fixated to change your filter. Why,is the original filter not good? just a bit of feedback on the drop in filters, from my experience using the k&n, it works for a few km. no denying it. the car will launch like a bullet (i'm exaggerating a bit here) but then, the car's ecu will pick up 'abnormal' airflow after those few fun kilometres and compensate to parameters earlier set by the car's engineers.Btw how is your gb now? so, the performance will somewhat revert to normal. you probably need to 'fool' the ecu to allow for a higher air/fuel ratio to get more performance out of the new performance filter. i tried it out in the 206 and 207 and if these old engines can suss out the increased airflow, the newer ecu would probably be able to do so as well. unless, the ecu tells the car otherwise. but then, it could encroach into warranty matters. anyway, just my feedback and something to think about. always good to have someone try it out and report. just make sure it is not a placebo effect |

QUOTE(EP6CDTM @ Feb 9 2014, 09:48 PM) it all depends on traffic pattern the 2.0 i'm using averages about 11.5L/100km. the car is just about 3,500km. so it is still pretty new... and tight.lots of waiting at traffic lights will increase FC and highway in/ highway out will be a total animal altogether 12L/100km looks a bit on the high side |

QUOTE(mtbk3 @ Feb 10 2014, 10:43 AM) Anyone else has a second opinion on this??? Especially the warranty part. filter won't kacau your warranty. it is tampering with the ecu that will void it. but then, if you do a huge open pod one, they can void it as well. The drop in just a plug & play item. Will it really void the warranty?? Shouldnt it make the car run smoother and better since im giving it a better breathing filter?? Actually i plan to buy a new drop in and keep the old one. So when time to go service i replace back the old one myself. Hahahahhahah. Thank you very much. |

QUOTE(ghost007 @ Feb 11 2014, 12:35 PM) My 1.6T run at 14 L / 100km when new yup. i totally agree. low speed tends to suck up more fuel. was the same with my 207 before and now also with my 408 2.0.after 1 st 10 K service = 10 L / 100km after 2nd 20K service = 7.8 L / 100km Shah Alam to Johor = burn RM 40 + of fuel @ 110 km/h ( some stretch was run @ 180 km/h following a Rang rover ) Shah Alam to Ipoh =Burn RM 30 + of fuel normally @ 110km/h to 130 km/h so, high speed don't burn much fuel, slow speed does. |

high performance tyres normally have softer compound for better grip. the trade off is faster wear rate. endurance tyres will have harder compound but the tyre will last longer. the trade off is ride comfort as the tyre may tend to be bumpy.
