Thanks for the feedback. So many different styles...wink.gif how to know for sure?

I realized that both cars with the ac turned on when starting engine, the ac will only come on later, like a few seconds after engine started. Wouldn't this be safe enough?

This is the reason I don't off the air con before kill the engine. ..

I had tested the Focus. Its 2.0 engine is quite decent and most powerful 2.0 NA engine in this segment/ class.
However, 408 turbo can simply smoke it with the extra torque.
Focus' s power comes in smooth way, I feel the power non stop coming but not a sudden 1. Ofcoz thanks to the dual clutch GB.
408 turbo power has a sudden kick in, where the gear will hold on at a higher RMP. Definitely 408T is more powerful than Focus at the pick up acceleration stage. However you might find the ride is more harsh than Focus.

Hi daniellee84,

I like Focus the driver's seat. Really snuggy and grabs you well. The only issue is have with the Focus is the back seat is not comfy (very upright) and the center console is really complicated. Jetta, the power is there. I can feel the twin-charge really working. I just dont like the interior =P

Any other feedback on the 408T's performance?? Really like to know owner's feeling. =)

Thank you very much.
*
Personally tested Focus and VW Golf. Believe Jetta performance is not much dif from the Golf. I would make the numbering as below:
1) VW Jetta
2) P 408T
3) Focus

No 1 can match with VW twin charge at this class. However I really surprise u feel Focus is more powerful than 408T. Suspecting u got the 408 2.0NA for test drove instead.
I suggest that you might need to get a few more unit to test to get the real feel.
BTW, truely deeply no biase on 408 at all.
Happy hunting your new car! rclxms.gif

Well, 408T power is limited by two factor ( IMO )
1) the ESP  - but this is a safety feature, try to turn it off before you tab on the accelerator.
2 ) the 1.6 liter is not enough to go more at high RPM, at about 4000 rpm I can feel a flat power range, that is when you try to over take 6 cars in a row, upon the numbers 4 cars , can feel the power is actually slow down, then the car don't gain much speed at this stage, ( am I power hungry ) hehe.

For a heavy car like our Lion, 1600 CC consider very good already.
or else you need BMW 325
*
After all, our Lion is still just 1600cc only. .. lol

I bought 408T before I tested Focus (Focus was not even launched that time). Did a comparison between 408 and Civic though before making decision. Did not test Civic that time, just the first glance on Civic den turn my back on it. Hahaa...
But still, I tested Civic and Focus at the same day after bought my 408.

I cant ans why the Focus wins at the 0-100 race maybe leave this to other expert. All I can guess is, those are just figure claimed by manufacturer. Non of us really did the 0-100 test. My statement is just based on my own driving experience.

If I were to choose again, I will still get 408T over Focus. But if Focus can make it rear seat more comfortable, spacious. Then it will be another ans.

Actually in my mind now only got 2 cars to decide on. Now is 408T VS 208GTi.

And im having a hard time making a decision. Both also got its pros and cons. Both also got things that i like. Both also in my affordability range.

Tough choice........

Lolx, all the while I thought u are dilemma in Focus and 408T.
