QUOTE(Raiko @ Dec 11 2013, 03:57 PM) anybody changed from iphone 5 to note 3 ? mind sharing your thoughts or anything u need missed from the iphone that doesnt perform on the note 3 ? thanks. I upgraded from iPhone 4S to Note 3. Here are my pros and cons (Purely based on my experience):Pros: 1) BIG screen! (great for web surfing, viewing pics and vids.) 2) Feels very light even for such a big phone. 3) S Pen! 4) Flexibility of Android (almost limitless freedom to customise even without rooting) 5) NFC 6) Expandable memory Cons: 1) KNOX. 2) Samsung Bloatware 3) Camera UI all over the place and not very quick (e.g. it takes more steps on the Note 3 to take a panorama pic. and you can't take a vertical panorama pic on the Note 3) 4) Overall UI feel does not feel so well put together. (iOS is still that bit smoother and more cohesive) 5) Bugs I encountered with my phone like random restart and occasional "green screen" (just my bad luck I guess Hope this helps |

Every company seems to be trying out something new to protect end user more and more yet since it's new , its a big " leceh " but Apple , who has been having constraints on their users for years , nobody seem to mind and even adapted to it . 2 - Bloatwares to some are useful to others . On Note 3 , even when it's better and much improved , it still lacks behind other makers eg LG , Sony . Guess Samsung never really did a very good camera , just usable for average joes 4 - IOS feel smoother as there's no widget unlike android UI . Widgets do make a big difference to the smoothness . Instead of using TW , which has improved a lot , try out 3rd party launcher eg Nova , Apex . Who knows , u might like it more 5 - I never encounter such problems before on Note 3 unless my hand get itchy and flash in a custom kernel . On stock kernel , many of us here can confirm with u there's no random reboot issue or green screen . Do check your apps or the best is , do a factory reset , use it for a day or two without any apps to see if there's any of the problems you mentioned . |

All, Samsung whines about RDLV and says they've fixed the hole.
https://www.samsungknox.com/en/blog/about-root-de-la-vega From the read, I surmise that Samsung missed what is known as "collision detection" in the hash, which is what RDLV used to load the root img. Anyway, Knox is part of a very very wide industry effort to secure stuff down so that your corporate admin can own your a$$. The only way to stop it is if ALL users became very smart about device use, which I don't think is ever going to happen. This post has been edited by joytest: Dec 12 2013, 12:59 AM |

QUOTE(khaiandrew @ Dec 12 2013, 12:49 AM) X-Note 5.1 currently . Omega wise , i rather go with Jackyaway since both are more to stock feel but still find Jackaway better for my usage . Foxhound is also a good choice in fact , i always prefer FX but then go for stock and not theme as there's some bugs and graphic glitches on his themed rom unless u can live with it |

QUOTE(eszol @ Dec 12 2013, 12:34 AM) Samsung bloat ware like My Magazine. Need to root device to disableQUOTE(joytest @ Dec 12 2013, 12:42 AM) Come to think of it, con 1 and 2 are not entirely relevant to an idevice user since they can't even jailbreak the current iOS. I am more used to the iOS experience where things just work right out of the box. And if there is a problem, Apple gets bad publicity and (most of the time), have to fix it with a patch. The point is Knox is just a warranty flag, it does not stop you from rooting your device if you wanted to. iOS actively fights jailbreak activity and maintains tight control over its "highly curated user experience". What bugs me is that everybody seems to know about the KNOX error/warning message but I don't see any news saying that Samsung is going to fix it. Yes I can root my phon and disable KNOX and a whole lot of other things. But there is a risk that it may void my warranty. Also, it is not wrong to expect the (currently) top of the range Android phone to just work properly out of the box. I know I can fix some of the problems with a bit of tinkering but when you pay RM2k for a new phone and it doesn't work properly because of thr manufacturer, you shouldn't need to be the one trying to fix it. |
