you need to press power button + vol up to do hard reset. no need to wait until the battery die.

for z1, you only need to press the phsyical hard reset button.

Same as LYN , full of smart a$$es

XDA

read the 1st post of hard brick by zeppelinrox , developer for supercharger script and his symptoms of hard brick . Make it easy for u .

Not the best idea but I figure no big deal if it didn't work since I can just flash a stock ftf, right?

So I was tired... and I carelessly flashed a 4.3 stock kernel on a rooted 534.

I unplugged the phone and it's totally dead.
Doesn't power on, no lights, can't get back into flash mode.
Power + volume up = nothing. No vibration.
Tried the red hard reset button... still nothing.

Well, like some of us, I'm having the urge to test anything new ...kenot tahan...

My ROM's from Dr. Ketan, I already on MJ5, just need to flash SD write error fix. If you use Titanium BackUp, need to install TB Restore Fixer from Play Store for the restored app to work without fc.
*
Fixer no longer needed since tibu dev also updated their app to work for 4.3 and even 4.4 . However , on 4.4 , u need to apply a fix if u wanna copy anything from 3rd party apps to external

The stock rom's 4.4.2 kitkat doesn't really changed much compared to the 4.3 we had now...(In terms of the UI)
Pretty disappointing I was expecting the UI to change to be something near like the S5.
Might flash DN3
*
If manufacturers do that , some ppl will stop buying new models . After all , that little new things are what attract people to change phone anyway and if u compare note 2 to S5 , besides the so called " latest hardware + spec " , there isn't much difference in performance . After all , Note 2 was the top device

Alright guys, just some quick questions

How if knox flag tripped?

What I know is warranty void, not reversible,  no knox features,  but what im not sure is...

Some ppl say you will be locked from installing newer knox enabled roms for example upcoming 4.4 stock rom

U cannot get update from OTA  cannot flash newer stock roms with odin

Is that true?  But got some ppl in xda said you will still able to flash any newer knox enabled firmware no matter what, just your warranty and flag still remain void and no knox features only

And is there any other cons for knox flag tripped that I dont know?
*
Your info are all jumbled up . Knox and Root are 2 different thing , rooting will trip knox .

What I know is warranty void, not reversible, no knox features, but what im not sure is...

Rooting tripped knox BUT there are a few with Knox triggered to 0x1 yet manage to claim for warranty after they deroot , reset and flash back stock rom

Some ppl say you will be locked from installing newer knox enabled roms for example upcoming 4.4 stock rom

Srsly ? Where u get that info ? Knox enabled roms or not , u can still install any stock rom BUT u cant downgrade anymore even to older firmware with same based eg 4.4 to 4.4 earlier version . And that is because of Bootloader but in certain cases , u can upgrade to newer version without flashing bootloader . Eg , I'm running ND5 rom on Note 3 but using NA6 bootloader . ND5 comes with a bootloader as well but i didnt upgrade mine since NA6 is working fine so far .

U cannot get update from OTA cannot flash newer stock roms with odin

Rooted phone cannot get OTA , that has been that way a LONG time . The only phone i know where u can root and get OTA is Pantech Vega series .

Lol  I hadnt said anything about root yet tongue.gif
Well your info makes things clear for me now

As for the part locked from update to newer version, what they actually mean is the bootloader itself and firmwares but not roms?

So lets say I wanted to root my current note 2 4.3 stock
I rooted it, tripped the flag, no longer able to use knox features (dont care actually)
So im on rooted stock 4.3 now

So if 4.4 stock is released, how do I update since odin no longer usable ?

Anything else that may give me troubles with this knox bootloader I got from stock 4.3 update?

And will I have any problem if I want to move to any custom roms? With this knox bootloader
*
1stly , are you still under warranty ?

2ndly ......

Lol I hadnt said anything about root yet tongue.gif

Which part of my statement makes u think I assume u r rooted ?

As for the part locked from update to newer version, what they actually mean is the bootloader itself and firmwares but not roms?

ROM is the firmware , same as some users referred to the " phone " as the " device "

So if 4.4 stock is released, how do I update since odin no longer usable ?

I never say Odin is not usable after rooting , only OTA and KIES update

And will I have any problem if I want to move to any custom roms? With this knox bootloader

users tripped their knox to install custom recovery to go to custom rom , so what do u think ?

no longer under warranty, still remain stock 4.3 and knox not tripped

wanted to have phone root but keep the stock 4.3 rom, will update to 4.4 when it comes and look for root method for 4.4 later

Which part of my statement makes u think I assume u r rooted ?
i was asking what happened to me if i tripped knox, you got talk about root, well extra info always better smile.gif

Some facts about KNOX status:
It isn’t possible to downgrade to KNOX-disabled firmwares/bootloaders (An attempt sets 0×1) (even though some people state, downgrade is possible when omitting the bootloader file in a firmware package). By downgrading from KNOX-enabled to KNOX-disabled firmware, your devices will be locked to installation of newer firmwares.

is that mean it only happens if i try to downgrade my knox bootloader to previous non-knox bootloader?

[cool.gifI never say Odin is not usable after rooting , only OTA and KIES update
hmm.gif  not quite catch your meaning for the last line[/B]
users tripped their knox to install custom recovery to go to custom rom , so what do u think ?
for example,  I've seen number of users on xda who have minor problems with their custom rom + custom kernel based on stock kernel will have frequently FC problems, it's something related to knox bootloader

actually not a big problem, just wanted to ask smile.gif

used to mod my LG O2x, now using note 2, because knox thingy need to be more careful

really thank you for help and info, I'll do more research again

if can, i just want to keep stock 4.3 , all i want just root my note 2
*
Odin , OTA , KIES are 3 different thing . Rooted device cannot update via KIES or OTA but have to do it manually via Odin . My advice , stop researching as it seems to make u more confuse more and more .
KNOX is a security feature , implemented by Samsung . There are pros and cons , more to cons for people who dont use it .

Basically , what u should know

1 - With KNOX , it's not possible to roll back . Even when u r on 4.3 , it doesn't mean u can go back to earlier version of 4.3 . U can only keep updating forward . That's for stock rom . For custom rom , I was on 4.3 yet I rolled back and used SpeedWiz 2.2.1 ROM which is 4.1.2 with perseus kernel , both were long abandon . Only that rom seem to work , the others , I ended up with a corrupted EFS after flashing

2 - IF u plan to stick to stock rom , that means once u r rooted , u can no longer receive OTA or update via KIES . U need to dl the latest firmware from Samobile and update it manually via Odin .
