thanks for the guide.

my phone's already rooted.
my main concern as shared earlier is how will the flashing affect KNOX. most instructions on XDA usually start with KNOX free rom... but my phone's already got KNOX (official firmware).

also, still undecided on which KitKat rom. DN? Phoenix <-- not sure if Phoenix has got KitKat
*
hope the guide really help. biggrin.gif

i am not really aware about the rom is either KNOX free or not as my warranty is over, so every flashing i have to bear with the risk.

TBH, i dont really prefer any TW based rom, such as DN3 or Phoenix. Just tried DN3 with 4.4 rom, not much difference other than the note 3 feature which i dont use at all... sweat.gif
Then i opt back for the AOSB rom, still like the fully customize-able interface and very very good ram and battery usage. On sleep mode, is roughly 0.3% to 0.4% battery drain/hr, which i have hibernated a lot of apps. But you have no option to use S-Note or any S-pen related apps and camera is default Nexus 5 camera. Cheers! smile.gif

Flashed Hurricane v12.0 ROM4.3] successfully. Proceed to flashing Philz recovery via PC Odin.
Phone got stuck - Downloading... Do not turn off target!!
Cannot go to d/load or recovery mode. Pull battery also fail to boot up. Any fix for this?
*
susposely you should use computer to flash Philz Touch, then reboot into recovery mode which is Philz Touch, then only you use Philz to flash you Hurricanoe rom, i guess you did it the other way edi.

try this to enter the original recovery mode
Turn off your device. Once it’s turned off, press volume up + power button + home button simultaneously and keep them pressed until you see the Galaxy Note 2 logo, then release the power button.
then you will land here, factory reset if you want

I lost my philz recovery after flashing hurricane rom. It reverted to stock recovery. I then proceed to flash philz via PC Odin. Could not boot up after that. Stuck cannot button combo into d/load or recovery mode.
*
okay, that weird. where you got stuck at when you power on your phone? at the GN2 logo?

i am not sure how, but give this a try. XDA Stock Rom, since that you've said that you stuck the download mode earlier, could use odin to flash it back to stock rom

Guys what version of CWM Philz Touch Recovery are u all using for 4.3 stock rom? Thx,..
*
i am using the 5.15.0 version for 4.3 roms with no problem, having slight issue when using with the latest 6.15 version
however if you are going for 4.4 roms, recommend to use the latest one, eg Philz 6.15

Now I regret selling away my N7100s

N7105 devs are slow, not to mention Samsung itself...
*
N7105 is the LTE version? is the difference in hardware and firmware so you cant actually flash a rom made for n7100, is it?

I use "Wanam Xposed", one of Modules in Xposed Installer to turn off shutter sound.
I got no problem in changing the ringtone.  Do you flashed the AIO fix?
Edit:

DN3 V5 is available to download. the link is at Opening Page/Original Poster of Dn3 XDA forum site.
*
oh, thank for v5! i try out the xposed and do v5 need AIO fix?

Install the v5 just now.
It seem that the setting to control the light for the menu n back button is missing in the display setting.
Anyone have the same issue?
*
yup, same here on DN3 V5, the setting for backlight key is missing, is not a big deal la, but i gguess if can turn that off might save a bit of battery?

Arzwart ok thanks for the notes, but i still cant silent the shutter sound and boot up sound in wanam xposed
i install the xposed installer from XDA and then install Wanam, apply setting for in Wanam reboot but i still can turn off the sound and etc..
mind share how you do it? newbie here, Thanks!

Go to camera setting and disable shutter.
In xpose installer do you tick/activate the wanam xpose in modules tab?
*
hmm, it seems like the option to turn off the shutter sound in camera app is missing too... cry.gif

i have enable and tick the wanam exposed in module tab, i able to modify the notification setting , such as adding date and month to the notification bar,

i have tick the option to disable boot sound and shutter sound, then reboot, but it stay the same...is not a big deal, but might be a problem when taking picture of lectures notes on whiteboard....guess i opt for another camera app then... sweat.gif

however, DN3 is just another awesome rom with N2+N3+S5 AIO experience! thumbup.gif

i found the setting to turn off the touch key backlight edy

in DN3, there are two setting icon on the apk drawer, use the one which show much graphical setting something like this,
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

then, under 'quick setting', tap the 'power setting', tap into 'power saving mode', tap into 'restrict performance', from there you can disable the touch key back light edy

but the setting is frozen in the normal setting app...

I just install v5 this morning.  And I can disable the shutter sound in camera using the wanam xpose.  My shutter option in camera setting is gone too.

I'm using SuperSu Pro and Busybox.  Philz recovery 6.26.6
*
hmm, can i just flash the normal SuperSu instead of the pro one? and what shall i do with busybox, or what can i do with it?

thanks!

yup yup, you need to tap the switch to turn on the power saving mode and then you only can turn off the touchkey back light

any other bugs and glitches you found on this rom?

is that normal for Note II to only draw about 900mA of current when using a travel charger with rated output of 2A?

using the app "Galaxy charging current" for the charging current reading in Note 2
*
i have the same issue with you before, using the 2A charger and the white USB cable from samsung, took me like 6 hours plus to finish charge which is unbearable

then i search along, found that the Samsung white USB cable is the problem, look at your USB cable at the mini usb end, there is 4 gold contact pins. Try to change to another USB cable with 5 gold contact pin.

check the micro usb end, there should be five pins, it should solve your problem

Any idea how to remove the album art from the lockscreen?
It zooms in so much that the album art becomes so blurry.
Not to say most my songs are without album art which makes it even more disgusting...

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

*
somehow i like the lockscreen album art, but the magnified picture also make me headache, in the end i edit all the music info in iTunes and add in HD album art, so no blurry album art! biggrin.gif
but i guess there is no way to remove the album art from lockscreen

I have checked, chargers and data cable provided by Samsung are all 4pin only doh.gif

my powerbank supplied cable also got 5 pin
*
so did any 5 pin cable solve your problem?

but the problem with the samsung calbe only occur after i update to 4.3, before in 4.1.3, i can charge completely in around 2.5 hours, but when update to 4.3 or 4.4.2, it took me 6 hours plus for full charge with the samsung cable, dunno whether this has to do with the firmware.

Quite sad today, my dad and brother order Xiao Mi3 and Huawei Honor 3C. Both phone specification is on par or even better than mine but come with a lower price cry.gif last time spend a big bucks on Note 2...only thing can beat them is the battery life and a pen..

QUOTE(PhakFuhZai @ May 17 2014, 10:34 PM)
when i use the same data cable to charge with the Yoobao travel charger (rated output 2.1A), i got around 900mA
when using my sister mia powerbank (rated output 2.1A) with non-samsung cable, i got around 1100mA on average
my Vivis powebank failed big time, rated output is 1A but actual only 300-400 mA
planning to get one Xiaomi powerbank soon
*
from what i know about power bank is that let say a 2.1A output, if can get 50% of the output shown in GCC is consider very good edy, but i have not buy any power bank yet, too many brands and the 'china' one are too original and too good to be true...

E-Team of DN3 Dev is going to release new rom within this 12 - 72 hours ^ ^   look like this week will be flash fest for me lol
*
DN3 V5 updates? quite happy with DN3! wish phoenix can get 4.4 soon!

QUOTE(tbheng @ May 18 2014, 10:15 AM)
For my case, I suspect some ill-behaved apps keeping my N2 awake and slow down the charging (drain and charge at the same time)... cause when it happen, the next day my N2 will not last as long...need to investigate further.
*
the charging problem only come when i update to 4.3, dunno whether this problem is related to FW

Cincai la. Already bought loh. Anyway Note 2 is still flagship, so the support is better.
*
quite a good price for RM850, but scare less XDA developer for future upgrades, just like the GN2 LTE version or the S4 mini etc...since is not the main flagship line...and note two still has it processing power even thou is already 1.5 years and many model has overtaken..

correct me if i am wrong, note 3 is more battery hunger compared to note 2 under the same usage style, as note 3 has a higher def screen to display even thou it has a more energy efficient processor. I tried to use it for a period and it barely last me to the second day... sad.gif

my goodness, the Google play services is keeping the CPU awake for 7 hours
this is Note II on Kitkat, no wonder battery can't last even 8 hours
anyone else faces similar problem?
*
i use system tuner pro to turn off certain option like google wallet and google plus so that it does not run in the background and play store does not run in the background unless i tap the app, you can find the system tuner pro app in play store, download the app with a green android logo one

so the battery can last much much longer

there is a thread in XDA say about what you can turn off in system tuner pro, but forget where is it edy..will post again if i found the thread

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2504016
*
one of the best and as you say S5 + Note3, flash it!

-------------------------------------------------------------
BTW, i was in Phoenix V18.5 rom, the lockscreen music abum art is missing, it only show my lockscreen wallpaper.
i reflash and reinstall and redo everything and even redownload the rom zip file, is still the same

any clue? or developer purposely remove it.
