Yes, but there is a risk of the radio giving weird problems due to CSC and modem differences.

You may also get some region specific apps installed.

uick question here, I know KitKat update is up for Samsung Galaxy Note 2 in Malaysia but mine hasnt got it ( it says the latest software is updated, not kitkat tho)

Well my model is Samsung galaxy note 2 N7100.
Anyone experiencing same problem as mine ? Any idea when will the firmware for note 2 N7100 out ?

Thank you very much biggrin.gif
*
It is not a problem. I think the DX series ROMs for MY/SG are not yet available. Even if it were, the OTA server will take requests on a first come first served basis, so, be patient.

im having a few problem..  icon_question.gif

but my utmost consent is regarding my outlook setup.

i cant complete my Outlook setup. i'd already tried it on another phone, I9100, same process are done and it worked fine within  few minutes.

i notice there are missing option on my N7102 compared to others (stock ROM N7100, I9100 etc)

here the screenshot from N7102.

and here from I9100.

notice the setup from N7102 missing the option for enabling "SSL cert acceptance".
anybody can help me on this..??  plzzz  notworthy.gif

ur assistance highly appreciated.
*
I'm not entirely certain, but maybe you need to import the server cert first? Your i9100 may already have the cert so you have that additional option.

Otherwise you might want to check for updated Exchange apks on xda.

mind to elaborate a bit more regarding updated exchange.

im not sure about the cer status on i9100. im wondering too, why the option are available on other phone, i9100, N7100, Note 3 etc, but not available on my N7102-android 4.3..  icon_question.gif  icon_question.gif
*
Firstly about the Exchange apk...some devs extract and mod them to be usable across all devices, so do check your current version of Exchange and see if the ones on Xda are newer. You may download those to try but please backup your existing Exchange apk.

The other thing is since the N7102 was only made for the China market, there could be some restrictions on SSL technology as it is treated as sensitive encryption technology by the US dept of justice. For example vendors are not allowed to ship 128bit encryption to countries like Iran, North Korea etc.

hmmmm... yes,  agreed. high probabiity here.

im sorry,  how to check/backup my exchange apk?
thanks. really dunno.
*
If you are rooted, get some File explorer that can access root and go to your system\app\ and backup SecEmail_J.apk and SecExchange.apk

If not, you can try MyPhoneExplorer and use the Apps Backup function to copy these apks to your PC.

Hmm....the apks used to be called simply Email.apk and Exchange.apk. Google and/or Samsung may have changed the way these 2 apks behave.

i browse thru Titanium Backup and found out that only Email 4.2 available. There are no Exchange apk there.

So, im guessing there should be a combination for Email and Exchange in order to ensure my official Outlook setup works, am i right?

my next question is,

1. izit suffice to do Email.apk backup thru Titanium Backup? should there are any problem, can i revert back by restoring it?

2. i found another Email.apk meant for android 4.4. Can i use it without any conflicts?

this site offered both Email and Exchange.  its here
thanks

So you seem to be rooted as you have Titanium. Download ES File Explorer of Ghost Commander and enable root access. Go to the directory I posted earlier and look for those APKs. You need 2 APK, one for the mail client, and one for the Exchange services, coz the mail client communicates with the Exchange services apk.

The link you provided is for the AOSP mail client, which probably won't work. You need a TouchWiz compatible one IINM.

It's been quite a while since I messed around with that, and unfortunately my organization does not have Exchange for mobile.

is that normal for Note II to only draw about 900mA of current when using a travel charger with rated output of 2A?

using the app "Galaxy charging current" for the charging current reading in Note 2

I was away the last 2 days. Nice discussion. I read about lamjunrong's replies, so he may have a point.

BTW mudkipryan can be largely ignored as he rarely ever gives any responses that make sense.

I suspect you may ALSO have a faulty usb port on the phone, as it can happen. My wife's S3 is having this problem, whereby it will only give 100-300 on GCC unless the cable is removed and inserted again.

If you cannot get 1500 or 1800 on any cable + charger combination, this is the most likely cause.

I recall that replacing the USB port is less than RM50.

Quite sad today, my dad and brother order Xiao Mi3 and Huawei Honor 3C. Both phone specification is on par or even better than mine but come with a lower price  cry.gif last time spend a big bucks on Note 2...only thing can beat them is the battery life and a pen..
from what i know about power bank is that let say a 2.1A output, if can get 50% of the output shown in GCC is consider very good edy, but i have not buy any power bank yet, too many brands and the 'china' one are too original and too good to be true...
DN3 V5 updates? quite happy with DN3! wish phoenix can get 4.4 soon!
the charging problem only come when i update to 4.3, dunno whether this problem is related to FW
*
I'm sure the Exynos 4412 is better than the MTK6852 of the 3C. The plus point for the 3C is its insanely low price, therefore it is good value for money.

Mi3 has no sd card slot, so you are limited to what you have and for people who can't tell extsd vs intsd, then they will reach a headache very quickly.

Note 2 still has its screen size, S pen and superb battery going for it, not to mention a still active developer base.

Gonna get a Note 2 tomorrow. Hope the battery life is good enough. Is it true that Note 2 can reach 10+ hours of SOT?
*
If you are playing games all day, it will be 4hrs. If you are browsing and facebooking, maybe 5hrs. 10 hours is usually achieved if you are reading ebooks.

RM999 not cheap. Still got warranty? If not, then overpriced.

If you dont need the S Pen, there is absolutely no reason to buy Note2. You can get quite a lot of good phone if you wait for right opportunity. Every now and then you would see people selling Z Ultra for 1.1K or slightly more. That is a Snapdragon 800 SoC in there. You dont even need custom firmware with these to feel the smoothness of the extra processing power.

Samsung is going downhill from here on. Competition has finally caught up due to Qualcomm. Yes, previously, I would recommend Samsung without a doubt because they give the best hardware your money can buy but now, their SoC is next to dead and the only thing that stands out is their S Pen (or even AMOLED screen).
*
Sensible....and ZU is a good device for content consumption. Might consider between that and Huawei Mediapad X1 when the time comes.
