Both also 70-300mm, but price different so huge?

A little off topic but just curious to know what are the usual platforms you showcase/upload your photos to?

Apart from Flickr, do you use other platforms such as Pinterest, blog, picasa?I like Flickr but it only accepts yahoo mail

Depending on your friend's budget also.
If its around RM2k-2.5k or so, then the Sony NEX3, 5 and 6 are good choices too 

have u checked before olympus ep5 vs XE2? i guess XE2 will be a better camera right?

hmmm i am considering m43 vs fuji eh. but i think i will end up with m43 because of the speed + super weather sealing. fuji's only advantage over m43 is the bigger sensor (better high iso, more bokeh) imo.

using lightroom 5.2.. later sharpening by photoshop

both is with strobe and 60cm softbox

Dry season now, can't really do very much with macro Time to level up in other genres   

personal experience, bought m43 (Lumix GX1 with kit lens, first pro camera) and after a while realized the kit lens were not enough then bought a zoom lens. End up sold the whole set because it no longer satisfy my need. Then bought D5100 with 17-50 Tamron, follow by 85mm 1.8 and 50mm 1.8. Guess what, i eventually bought D600 with a 24-70 after few months. Lesson learnt, if you are really into photography, dont waste money on crop sensor lens/body since FF body is now quite affordable. it really makes a lot of difference when comes to low light photography.

haha..on my phone it looks fine. HTC One X lcd screen are quite accurate. So what i do is after every edit before upload, i'll transfer to phone first. So, yeah, the effect is what i m looking for actually. bt maybe dif people dif taste lo

While I agree with you, still you cannot put a blanket statement and say like that. If newbies spend too much money and gets overwhelmed with all the buttons and steep learning curve, they would probably have their interest killed and would have sold their gear. But those who can persevere, they can save a lot and can go on to be better photographers. So really it depends on that person itself.

When I started photography, I had very little money. I had no choice lah since DX also damn expensive already and FX digital was still unavailable. Well, the advantage now is that great equipment can be gotten fairly competitively lah unlike last time and you have plenty of choices.

Yup. Higher end camera bodies and lenses don't drop so much as compared to the consumer type DSLRs.
