QUOTE(coolkwc @ Dec 27 2013, 08:10 AM) IMO, camera replacement part/accessories most of them the pricing is unreasonable. Wait, your phone can remote control your DSLR? What model are both of them?Last Sunday i saw the Nikon remote pricing, ridiculous high, just a button for shutter, RM290. I just use my handphone to remote only... |

I have one of those IR remote from Nikon, cost me about RM25 I think. But only works with D7100 and below I think. I was using with D90 back then.Phone wise, galaxy S4...this phone got IR transmitter, just download free apps from google play then tata... |

QUOTE(f5calvin @ Dec 30 2013, 10:12 AM) 50 1.4G i think.. D would be fine too..see which one sharper. Its all about the pixel density now... FF like D800 has high pixel density, equivalent to the D7000. But then again, those 20+ MP DX sensors like D7100... is going to need even higher shutter than the D800. ya right.. i almost forgot bout that. bt that's from crop body rite? if FF i think 1/80 enuf. That's why I still like my D700, 12MP FF very forgiving sensor on shake |

D800 seems like a bad camera for macro.. f/8 is the diffraction limit and usually go bout f/16 or so?

QUOTE(jchue73 @ Jan 8 2014, 12:04 AM) On what body? It helps to remember to use the cross sensors. In terms of speed, not all AF-S motors are created equal. The ones on the 24mm f/1.4, 35mm f/1.4 and 85mm f/1.4 are one of the slowest. Small motor to move big glass, can't compare against those telephoto with big motor to move big glass (well relative to the size la |

QUOTE(jchue73 @ Jan 8 2014, 02:13 PM) Didn't have the 20mm f/2.8 before. I still have the AF-D 20-35mm f/2.8 zoom though. Obsolete and Nikon replaced it with AF-S 17-35mm f/2.8 and now the AF-S 16-35mm f/4 VR. This one need to ask shinchan since he has the 17-35 f/2.8, me only using the tiny 16-35 f/4 LOL and its pretty slow compared to 70-200 VR2.Anyway, nice lens and spend most of it's time on my D700 as my walkabout lens. Now on the D800, I use the 14-24mm f/2.8 and interchange it with the 24-70mm f/2.8. Don't know if it's correct or not but I guess there are different grades / sizes of AF-S motors. I guess the 24mm f/1.4, 35mm f/1.4 and 85mm f/1.4 are using same motor? I do know however that the AF-S motor in the 17-35mm f/2.8 and the AF-S 80-200mm f/2.8 are the same. I know the AF-S 80-200mm f/2.8 has blinding speed on AF but I guess the same also for the 17-35mm f/2.8? No chance to test that. As far for the AF, 24-70 and 70200 have blazing speed minus the telephoto primes. The rest i've used are big aperture lens... and pretty slow. |

Side question, was cleaning my lens normally until butt itchy I went to shine it with LED torch... many micro dust -.- not able to clean them off T_T. Wipe this area clean, other area have. But then without the light I won't see them.
Question is how do you guys clean your lens? I used lenspen, it leaves black dust charcoal particles, use Zeiss swabs, also have dust left over ._. |

QUOTE(0168257061 @ Jan 10 2014, 10:33 AM) Yeap, the dust you can see with your eyes no problem. Issue is with those you can't see, but only appears when you shine light to the glass =/QUOTE(PF T.J. @ Jan 10 2014, 11:02 AM) Damn jelly your lens collection sifu haha Hehe, thanks! Took me years to get those...I've never really tried shining with torch, but I do noticed that a used (not 1st time) lenspen or microfibre cloths will sometimes add more dust/microparticles onto the lens as you clean Have to use blower to blow them off... But seriously sometimes I wonder how dust got into the inner lens even when a UV filter is used Maybe you can try and let me know? Shine with torch or LED. Oh yes, my lenspen does leave micro dust, black ones! Maybe I need to buy new lenspen... might be contaminated, or too old since I rarely use it. And yes my microfiber also quite old d, but rarely used. But then again, i could clean the surface, looks clean to my eyes and the dust can be blown off are the bigger white ones. But those not visible to me can't =/. I tried to use tape to remove the dust, but then ended up with the tape's residual even worse Went online shopping, saw this 2.. Zeiss, http://shashinki.com/shop/zeiss-microfiber...hs-p-13865.html so expensive! Matin, http://shashinki.com/shop/matin-micro-fibe...50mm-p-189.html and http://shashinki.com/shop/matin-micro-pock...lue-p-6430.html Anyone used one of these before? |

QUOTE(jchue73 @ Jan 10 2014, 04:17 PM) The 70-200mm f/4 VR is sharp, light and has better VR. The 70-200mm f/2.8 VR 1 vignettes wide open on full frame sensors. But then again, for what you're shooting, you're seldom shooting at f/2.8. So no worries there. That's why I bought those pre moistened Zeiss cleaner, but even those also gives tiny dusts under the torch f/2.8 allows you to stack a 1.4x TC or 1.7x TC or even 2.0x TC if you dare for the added reach. The f/4 lens perhaps only allow 1.4x TC before it becomes too dark. Anyway, if a slight increase in budget is allowed, the newly revised AF-S 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6 ED VR is nice. Great optics and flexibility. On a side note, you should have gotten a lens instead of getting a Nikon body. Nikon lenses have international warranty. You're speaking about the external glass surface and not the lens internals? Because lens internals surely got these microdust when you shine your torch. I believe the "problem" you're having is your lenspen and microfiber cloth not clean. That's the issue with using them. If you want them to be perfect, you need to wash your microfiber cloth or buy a new lenspen when it gets dirty. I get around this by using ordinary lens fluid cleaner and with a soft good quality normal tissue paper. With tissue paper, it's always new and you don't get this microdust issue when you clean your lenses. That's what I do lah. Anyway, the microdust is a very small matter as it exist everywhere and does not affect anything. |

QUOTE(mingyuyu @ Jan 17 2014, 08:49 PM) it does looks good imo, but the looks definitely doesn't worth that much. it's like buying a myvi then put on GTR bodykit on it and sell at rm200k. didn't see any a7 today though Well, I just got back from a trip... and carrying the D800 along is seriously a pain in the ass. Am seriously considering something smaller and I still want FF so... =/ A7 sounds like the good choice. Or maybe I should just go for something like Fuji perhaps. |

QUOTE(mingyuyu @ Jan 17 2014, 09:23 PM) but most mirrorless don't focus as well as DSLR and there's not many good tele lenses for them also. that's the only 2 points that holding me back from changing to fuji You referring to speed or accuracy? Besides I don't bring my tele lens on travel anyways (70200? Nah...) |

QUOTE(mingyuyu @ Jan 17 2014, 09:32 PM) speed for stills it's alright, but lets say you want to track something, then mirrorless can't do that well. oh you want to get it solely for travel? then of course you won't be needing a 70-200 Yeah, buying a mirrorless for travel purpose. D800 + 16-35 is heavy... 35mm... 50mm... dang it LOL.Too bad Nikon screwed up their mirrorless, else it would be a no brainer to get those instead. Sigh. |

QUOTE(PF T.J. @ Jan 21 2014, 11:42 PM) No worries man, I feel the same way as you do I'm also worried of being mugged, hence the jump to Fuji X hehehe Which is why there are two categories of street photographers - those who prefer short primes i.e. 35mm/50mm; and those who prefer sniper lenses i.e. 70-200 etc. The former prefers blending into the environment; whereas the latter prefers the candid moment. There is no right or wrong actually, it all depends on your shooting style I find myself very shy when I try to shoot street shots in Malaysia, probably because I'm also afraid of being mugged apart from being scolded haha But I had no problems shooting in Singapore an Hong Kong.. maybe the environment will affect the shooting too |

QUOTE(PF T.J. @ Jan 22 2014, 11:49 AM) Same here, I believe I will be able to shoot more with a Fuji too since its smaller and less obvious~ 24-70 is on my wish list The 24-70mm is a great lens, but definitely not suitable for street or candid shots since its so big and catches attention too easily Personally I think with your current lens setup, you won't really need the 24-70 anymore yo haha But I noticed myself shooting more on my iPhone than my D800 when traveling -.- which is why I'm going for something easier to handle and less obvious hehe. |
