But still, the optics is amazing!

lol now i have 2 nikkor, 1 tamron, 1 sigma.  sweat.gif ROJAK when i cant get a Nano.
i think sigma AF now vy reliable d la. just test b4 buy the best thing to do. if only it has weather sealing, 50mm 1.2L and 58mm 1.4G wont be selling vy well. haha.
*
My friend's 35 and 85 Sigma AF pretty well on his 5D3.

QUOTE(Everdying @ Feb 28 2014, 01:22 PM)
nano can get 28mm 1.8g tongue.gif
but then again in the age of PP, it can make the nikon 50mm 1.4 look magical...
*
I prefer no need PP tongue.gif, besides the Nikon being tested was the 58mm f/1.4... supposedly the best of the best among Nikon 50mm.

I have the 1.8D previously and now using 1.8G since 2012 after hearing all the good comments about it. But then, for me I only note that the 1.8G has smoother bokeh, center sharpness wise similar, corners not so sure since I seldom use that lens laugh.gif and it seems to render warmer color than the 1.8D.

Between 28 and 35, I'll pick 28mm. Wider, my favorite is 35mm on FX which is 23mm on crop (using that for my Fuji).

50mm 1.8G is very sharp wide open. smile.gif

1. Off focus- Not enough light to focus correctly.
2. Hand shake - Shuttle speed is too slow.

Don't blame the lens if cannot get sharp images, you need to improve your skill 1st. whistling.gif
*
I would not consider 50mm f/1.8G as "very sharp" laugh.gif

QUOTE(PF T.J. @ Mar 10 2014, 03:13 PM)
Haha, thanks guys, that's very nice of you all notworthy.gif
Proposed in Taiwan already laugh.gif
Haven't decided on the big day haha

@wkwong91, actually most lens will become sharper when you stop them down. Post-processing can also help with sharpening too  laugh.gif The lenses you have are already quite sharp compared to kitlens  thumbup.gif

I think there's only one lens that can perform exceptionally well at its widest aperture- The Otus 55mm F1.4, costs a bomb though haha  drool.gif

The Sigma Art 50mm! Looks crazy sharp at f/1.4, tapao both the Canon and Nikon flagship.

QUOTE(piscesguy @ Mar 10 2014, 03:59 PM)
IMHO,
1 There is no need to sharpen images.  doh.gif
2. U don't stop down because u cannot get sharp images. doh.gif

The reason to stop down:
U stop down because u want less light.
U stop down because u want more area in focus. (again, not sharper images!)
U stop down because u want slower shutter speed.

A good prime lens should be able to produce sharp images across all aperture.  smile.gif
*
LOL, is the gold ring 35mm or 85mm "good"? Yes I stop down aperture for sharpness, this is on the D800's 36MP.

QUOTE(piscesguy @ Mar 10 2014, 04:07 PM)
As I have said, 50mm 1.8G is very sharp.  whistling.gif

If u cannot achieve that, then something must be wrong. hmm.gif
*
cry.gif I can't achieve "very sharp" pics wide open with 50mm but not an issue with my 35mm or 85mm.

A58 is SLT isn't it? Which there's a fixed light loss, and normally you would be using your kit lens to start which has really tiny aperture... =X too little light in --> blur/noisy pic tongue.gif

But the picture sample comparison is quite good leh for A58.
Right now what i do aware of is the shop that sell Sony products are very limited. In alor setar only 1. Other than that is probably Senheng or Courts or any electronic shops. Normal camera shop they wont bring in Sony camera products.

For lenses I try to search online but very hard to get Sony lenses. Maybe Im still not aware of the terms (shortforms) that is used to show that it fits to Sony body.

Nikon on the other hand can be purchase in some camera shops. There are lots of retail shop that is approved by Nikon to sell their products. Dayumm i hate choices!
*
No brainer isn't it? When you buy DSLR, you are buying the "system" not just the DSLR.

CY how's XM1 compared to xe1?

To be frank, no experience laugh.gif All the Trans X or X Trans sensors are the same anyways, so don't expect BIG differences.

I think what he meant was, the body itself is actually the least important part of this hobby, as they get updated pretty frequently.

The lenses, flashes, third party support etc are better considerations in choosing a system.
*
That's right, you buy DSLR based on the brand itself. Nikon is definitely more mature than Sony for this segment of the market... assuming the SLT is against DSLR.

Right now SLT only by Sony right? Nikon dont have SLT right? Which is better ? SLT or DSLR? I read in DPReview about these but cant understand. Hoping u guys can explain in easier way to understand  notworthy.gif
*
Not sure if I could explain accurately or not, what I recalled about the SLT it has a semi transparent mirror that bounces some light to sensor and some to the phase detect sensor (which means, loss of light to your sensor). That's why I said light loss in my earlier post. Sure some could say just bump ISO or reduce shutter, but then again that means crappier image. I remember when SLT just started it was about 2/3 stop of light loss, maybe it has improved a a negligible level now?

Not sure if you should switch it off in normal conditions or not, but you should definitely switch it off when ur camera's mounted on a tripod
PS: just noticed something interesting, silly to have never bother using it before, af-on back button is really useful for focus recompose, rather than half press the shutter button then focus recompose, if half press my camera always adjust focus 1  sweat.gif

Yalo, now force-changed already... I hate not being able to copy and paste "tags"  vmad.gif
Have to type one-by-one...

And I don't like the icons also, they macam expect us to know what all the symbol means just by looking at them  sweat.gif

Here's what I do for the tag, I save the tag info to the JPEG before uploading blush.gif so this changed doesn't affect me.
