super sharp from sigma 50mm. nikon 58mm 1.4G is wayy behind..

that one all studio test.
later in real life test, focus run here and there

lol now i have 2 nikkor, 1 tamron, 1 sigma.  ROJAK when i cant get a Nano.
i think sigma AF now vy reliable d la. just test b4 buy the best thing to do. if only it has weather sealing, 50mm 1.2L and 58mm 1.4G wont be selling vy well. haha.

nano can get 28mm 1.8g
but then again in the age of PP, it can make the nikon 50mm 1.4 look magical...

50mm 1.8G is very sharp wide open.

1. Off focus- Not enough light to focus correctly.
2. Hand shake - Shuttle speed is too slow.

Don't blame the lens if cannot get sharp images, you need to improve your skill 1st.

@wkwong91, actually most lens will become sharper when you stop them down. Post-processing can also help with sharpening too  The lenses you have are already quite sharp compared to kitlens 

I think there's only one lens that can perform exceptionally well at its widest aperture- The Otus 55mm F1.4, costs a bomb though haha

IMHO,
1 There is no need to sharpen images. 
2. U don't stop down because u cannot get sharp images.

The reason to stop down:
U stop down because u want less light.
U stop down because u want more area in focus. (again, not sharper images!)
U stop down because u want slower shutter speed.

A good prime lens should be able to produce sharp images across all aperture. 

As I have said, 50mm 1.8G is very sharp. 

If u cannot achieve that, then something must be wrong.

i used to be using 35mm shoot on kitchen knife, my mom said this photo very sharp

But the picture sample comparison is quite good leh for A58.
Right now what i do aware of is the shop that sell Sony products are very limited. In alor setar only 1. Other than that is probably Senheng or Courts or any electronic shops. Normal camera shop they wont bring in Sony camera products.

For lenses I try to search online but very hard to get Sony lenses. Maybe Im still not aware of the terms (shortforms) that is used to show that it fits to Sony body.

Nikon on the other hand can be purchase in some camera shops. There are lots of retail shop that is approved by Nikon to sell their products. Dayumm i hate choices!

I think what he meant was, the body itself is actually the least important part of this hobby, as they get updated pretty frequently.

The lenses, flashes, third party support etc are better considerations in choosing a system.

Right now SLT only by Sony right? Nikon dont have SLT right? Which is better ? SLT or DSLR? I read in DPReview about these but cant understand. Hoping u guys can explain in easier way to understand 

Not sure if you should switch it off in normal conditions or not, but you should definitely switch it off when ur camera's mounted on a tripod
PS: just noticed something interesting, silly to have never bother using it before, af-on back button is really useful for focus recompose, rather than half press the shutter button then focus recompose, if half press my camera always adjust focus 1 

i still not used to AF-On leh. hw many of u all using AF-ON? i feel it a bit inconvinient since need 2 fingers to handle.
