MINISTRY OF COMMUNICATIONS AND MULTIMEDIA COLLABORATES WITH TM TO PROVIDE “SaveME 999” FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES

QUOTE
YB Dato’ Sri Ahmad Shabery Cheek said: “The Government is taking the responsibility to implement MERS 999 in accordance to Communication and Multimedia Act 1998, Section 192(1): Required Application Service – RAS. It is the Government's aspiration to provide the emergency services regardless of the geographical boundary. Thus, the SaveME 999 application can be fully utilised throughout Malaysia.”

MERS 999 is an integrated emergency response system managed by TM. The MERS 999 project consolidates five emergency service providers – PDRM, JBPM, KKM, JPAM and APMM under one common ICT platform to provide uniform and consistent process in handling emergency calls. MERS 999 enables the 999 number to function as the sole emergency number for all emergency services.

"The Selangor Police application named 'My Distress' is only limited to the state and is developed by the private sector at a cost.
This is unlike 'SaveME 999' which is developed for free by the government but is restricted to OKU and requires OKU registration number to activate the application."

This is getting out of hand. At least be transparent la on the RM1 billion spent. If it is justified then Malaysian won't have any problem with it. Ini dengan bangga announce app RM1 billion minta rakyat syukur? BN ni betul sudah lebih la.
