Inform what? Just go there lah, might have to find accomodation if you go earlier. Sometimes can ask the AJK there to stay at hostel before the registration day, mine last time got offered that.

In case you arrive there early, search for dpp's office, inform that you're a new student, want to stay for the night. If you arrive prior to the registration date, they charge you per room i think rm10-20 per night.... I forgot the real amount. They'll give you the room key. If possible, inform them that you want the room that you will be staying for the rest of your semesters. If cannot, it'll be a temporary room. Last time I was one of the in charge for this. I think they're still using this system now.

Prepare around 35-40 bucks from alor setar to UUM by taxi. Haggle, cos they dont use meter one.

From airport to UUM main campus prepare around RM50-RM55. If to Kachi around RM65.

Try to find fellow new students if possible, can share taxi one

My experience last time, UUM send their representatives (fellow students in charge of new intakes) to airport to guide them, try to find them if available. Usually airport taxi drivers is very friendly one.

UUM drum team (don't know the exact name lol) quite femes also. Last time their efforts at villages around Kedah masuk MAS in-flight magazine yo.
