Don't worry about. I also got caught but just one set - at this moment. Just incase there weren't anymore coming. Now that its at 50% will just watch first, let the other people who missed 76005 get it. If it ever goes down any further then ONLY I'll go get more to collect NIB.

Yea I agree. labelling them as fools is a bit harsh there. What bout those who bought at retail then?  As we know , LEGO was NEVER this generous before in such magnitude so everybody's excitement during the initial 30% off is VERY JUSTIFIED.

We know some sets are justified personally because we want 'em badly and will grab on sight even without any form of discount. For me,  a "decent" 10% off Creators  is good enuff and just imagine how useful the parts were for my MOC I made the last 12 months or so.
*
What I meant by "fools" are those who grabbed 5-10 of each set from this ALJ hoping to resale online for a profit. Now can hold on to it indefinitely.

Creator sets are going off at 30% at brickboys already. More to come.

i think i heard some where that they are ending the sales at BV2 much earlier(24-Dec)
any one can confirm on this ?
Yes, there are about 5-7 boxes when i left
Friend Advent is RM65 if i not mistaken
LR only left the 79106 / 79107 / 79109
*
I live in Bangsar and frankly speaking the sales response there is dying down slowly but surely. Even on weekend was quiet on center court. Brickboys however was busy with sales.

Any up-dates from BV2 ?
*
Not sure yet, will walk over from my house later about 4.30pm. They usually replenish around this time before off-office hour and after a long weekend. Normally can see if they move the existing boxes to make more room. Saturday and Sunday was quite quiet though so not sure they will replenish or not. Update later.

What is parallel import? Direct from Lego group?
*
Not exactly direct. Can be from Lego.com, Amazon.com, Big Lots, Barnes and Noble, Target, Walmart, Lego Store, any of the US retailers which are known to have good sometimes great discounts. Buy from them store in the US/Europe local address store or warehouse then shipped over as a bulk shipment.

You would probably need overseas partners to do this and enough quantities to justify the cost to import in. Normally need to consider the 10% import tax on Toys, shipping cost (which is normally cheaper in bulk then if you would to purchase individually from eBay or online sites like Brickink.com.

I concur. Everything else is the same even seems to be shrinking, the lot.

Most of it still holding at City, Technic, LOTR and Starwars 35%. LR is holding at 30% else is rubbish. Chima and Ninjago the same few sets and lots dead stock. Ave. K and Brickboys seems to have a better selection at this moment.

Like they care, Point is to get rid of ALL stocks in hand. Not just that we want. Have to wind you guys up to Grand Finale - on the other hand ALSO they wanna screw LEGO (M) in the arse for monkey wrenching into their LEGO monopoly strateqy.

Guys, my bro is working for parkson and He is telling me ALJ try to persuade to them to take more stock as by Jan they no longer can distribute and sell as we all know, but Parkson is not stupid too as they wan cheaper stock by ALJ until then Parkson wont be having much stocks too. Let's wait for warehouse sales don't be deceive by ALJ sales now smile.gif
*
Not cannot sell, ALJ cannot distribute only. Anyone can sell as long they have stock. As for now the ALJ has too much stock and selling is taking too much time and of course we are getting smarter as most of us got caught at the initial stages.

So again, even they cannot force us to buy at this discount rate or any one reseller to take bulk of the remaining stock. Response to the LEGO building toys has been good, the only thing that puts us off is the price. Even now if you look at the conversion taking Lego.com as a benchmark, their SRP is about 35% off our Malaysia SRP. So unless our prices in Rm does not go lower then 50% is not even considered a great deal.

Our local online resellers are using ALJ SRP as a benchmark which we know is rubbish. Granted they need to have some margin, need to cover import tax, shipping etc. but it's not the way to go. Almost he entire South East Asia region distribution LEGO is managed by ALJ group.

Hopefully when LEGO (M) steps in, pricing structure would change making LEGO toys more accessible to ALL. No more TAIKUNs come 2014!! Remove the exorbitant USPS shipping charges or any shipping charges.

"LEGO.com/en-MY/" shop at home ... Free Shipping for purchases RM299 and above.

Go to LEGOLAND (M), see a little sticker which says "Distributed by Lego (M)"

I hate ALJ for being greedy with their monopoly of the Lego brand. Serve them right for not having the right to distribute Lego anymore. I can't wait for Parisian Restaurant with a "new price" smile.gif maybe my wife can buy the Mindstorms for me at lower price also tongue.gif
*
Cannot hate them, it's just business. Even our online resellers would do the same on Facebook, or even in this forum itself. That's why prices are hardly published anywhere unless PM only, its just competition. As consumers we can have a choice whether we want to buy or not. No one can force you if you don't want to buy at the quoted price. Is no harm also to ask for discount though sellers may not like it. They may choose not to sell to you but that's their prerogative.

Many sellers out there. Do some research and hunt for it.

In my opinion, they are the culprit for the high price of Lego in Malaysia. At least our online reseller can give lower price even though they need to deal with a lot of hassle just to get the stock. Yes it all business, but how honest they are in dealing the business will differentiate everything. Clearly now we can see how ALJ control the stock to ensure they can sell them at maximum profit. There is a reason why Lego did not continue their contract with ALJ and we as Lego fan really glad that something have been done to end this monopoly  smile.gif
*
Of course they are the MAIN culprits as they are the authorities which set the benchmark 35% 50% 40% off and prices is based on their SRP. Initially YES is to maximize profit. But now come Jan 2014, how much can they control if they got that much stock left in their inventory and no one is taking up any stocks?

This is a Global initiative that is just fortunately working to Malaysian LEGO consumers advantage. Not to get rid of ALJ per say. Lego has Legoland (M) to deal with. I mean besides the theme park, they cannot have visitors going there to find out that the other attraction going to Legoland is to experience the LEGO BigShop and find out is no different going to any retail outlet. Already the Entrance Fee to go into Legoland cost quite a bit.

Also they have to "take care" of our parallel importers. Realize Lego.com customer support don't support us anymore like for lost parts etc?

You are right about the problem in Legoland. I raised this issue even before LLM opened; how on earth are they going to make a profit and sell sets at the price they are selling now? There is nothing worth buying in Legoland at all except maybe for the Legoland exclusives like magnets, key chains etc. If you are a Singaporean, they are so many Lego exclusive stores that have a better variety and prices. Going to those exclusives stores does not require to pay toll, petrol etc to get over to Legoland, if you even have a car to haul in the 1st place.  Hell, since the Singapore Dollar is so powerful maybe can even buy from overseas and ship it to Singapore! Since Singapore is a port city I'm sure shipping is not expensive and their Kastam is easier to deal with than our Kastam! If they cannot even attract Singaporeans, how do they expect to attract Malaysian who does not have the spending power of Singaporeans?

Then for AFOL like me, LLM is not an attractive place to buy sets since it is so far from KL, the ticket price is expensive, the prices are retail prices and the selection is no match to some of our Tun Tan Sris here. To me Big Shop is no different than BBT. At least BBT give you membership discount.

Last month I was at LLM due to a company trip. The Big Shop berlambak with stock but from the looks of it not really moving. Some of the boxes of the modular buildings looks like it has been handled many times. There was even 1 49000 F1 racer which I think was sold at the City shop where the box art already become faint because it is too long exposed to the sun (the shop is fully opened).
*
42000 you mean. BBT had it on sale. I picked one up for RM270 after less 40%.
