Does anyone know whether the Cherry MX 3.0 (g80-3850) will be available in stores around here soon ( if it isn't already)?
Viewnet once carried some cherry keyboards but I can't remember what model it was, only that the only stock available was cherry blue.

yeah...but nevermind lah...i'll be building it from scratch. so there's no need to desolder it in the first place...can straight swap spring and stickered before soldering it in biggrin.gif

yeah that's the way all the people do.

No reason to go for that board. Isn't cheap and doesn't offer exceptional quality or features with that.

Random china road can win if hands down.

True but at least I don't have to ship it to China for warranty.

Any leads on where to get other less well known China brands then?

the latest shine 3 has more led modes and better build from the first gen; the plastic body feels more solid. if you want the leds, you can't go wrong with it.

switches depend, if blue then they are the same tactile clicky. of course you can try red or brown, you can audition them at heavy-arm or any shops that have them.

ducky, filco pcbs are more durable but if you don't do any internal modding, then its not really a concern. unless those korean customs. brows.gif

if you don't plan on spending a tonne of money, then grab the shine 3 or filco if you can and buy proper dyesub thick pbt keysets or thick doubleshot abs keysets. you can really feel the difference in solidness typing, not to mention the good looks.

actually i tried red blue black and my own brown before. i still prefer brown
what i wanna ask is let say cherry blue of cm storm/razer vs cherry blue of ducky/filco are basically the same right? i thought 'gaming' mech kb lower quality

Blue switches are quite sensitive, different built quality, plate, case, keycaps and so on can result in different sounds and even feels.

As you had tried red and blue, you can ignore brown already.

Brown is like a meh version for the mix of both.

Brown is good for gaming too. Used to use red for gaming - best for games.

Blue switches is darn loud when you are typing in a silent room, your colleagues can hear.
Making it uncomfortable while listening to music.
But it also gives some sound feedback that you already press the key during loud music.

That's the point,

Blue for keygasm.
Red for soft smooth typing.
Brown for errr, the half way between the 2? sweat.gif

Brown and red practically had no much different.

Red for extra smoothness, while brown for the negligible tactile, LOL.
