I just bought IronSocket yesterday, here's how it goes:
1) Bought IronSocket, download the 3 servers ovpn files: Tokyo1, Tokyo2, Nagano1 (that's all they have, no other JP server).
2) Try connecting each servers:
Nagano1 and Tokyo2 maximum can only go to 20kbps, and ping is between 200 and 350, sometimes go up to 400.
Tokyo1 is good, max 150kbps, ping is between 90 and 120.
3) Hooray, playing smoothly for 1 hour, then AFK-fishing for the night, go to sleep around 12AM.
4) Wake up around 7AM...found IronSocket disconnected..read the log, disconnection happens around 3AM.
5) Immediately try connect Tokyo1 again...cannot...try again and again...still cannot, looks like server down?
6) No choice, try Nagano1 and Tokyo2...gosh, can't even properly load the game...when the speed is limited at 20kbps, can't load the game fast enough, player/objects appear one-by-one, chat window as if frozen, then suddenly flood-in a lot...then disconnected from server...
7) Gave up, load back the free VPN (2nd ovpn file in my previous OpenVPN post), immediately can play no problem, ping between 100 and 120.
Seriously, I buy IronSocket NOT because I want low ping, what I really want is the high-availability, if it disconnects during the night, what's the point? Might as well use free VPN server?
Right now, the 1st and 2nd server in my previous post is as smooth as the Tokyo1 server with slightly lower ping (20 ping lower), just sometimes it is offline so I cannot be sure I can enjoy it anytime I want.
That's why I buy IronSocket, hoping for "able to have a good server whenever I need it", but what I am getting is same as other free vpn: disconnected when afk-fishing overnight, can't connect back in the morning seems offline...
And what the hell is with Tokyo2 and Nagano1? If it's in Japan how come the ping is over 300? Japan has one of the top internet infrastructure in the whole world, and that kind of ping is like worse than connecting from SG/MY to US. And why the speed only 20kbps? That kind of performance level is like a free VPN...
I don't know...whoever using IronSocket and connecting to that 3 JP servers, what's your experience with them? How long have you been using IronSocket and is situation like this normal? I hear a lot of guildies recommended IronSocket, bought it but it is a total let-down so far...
Hopefully it is just a bad day for IronSocket...if this kind of situation happens quite often, might as well claim refund and just use free VPN...
*rants off*
EDIT: I see you guys mentioned about Unifi problem...but doesn't apply in this case...coz I was able to connect to Tokyo1 yesterday night, and this morning can connect to free VPN server in JP.
Also, I have no problem patching with a free VPN yesterday, just feel laggy in game because the best free VPN server I found was offline (coz it's...free), and after hearing many recommendation on IronSocket, I decided to just buy it to save my hassle of keep trying out different free VPNs. After working for whole day, I don't mind spending money for good-quality play-time after I get back from work...but this kind of performance is kinda unacceptable.
