hi sifuss...

so my bro in law got 5A in recent UPSR and a rig is what he want..

around 1.5k what can i give to him?

saw Cable707 suggestion:

Intel Core i3 4130 3.3GHz RM395
Asrock B85M-DGS mainboard RM179
Kingston KVR1333MHz 4GB RM119
FSP Hexa 500W PSU RM149
WD Blue 1TB HDD RM189

total: RM 1,031.00

can i get HD7770 and a case for another RM469?

icon_question.gif
*
7770 around RM400+ d. Since he's still young, i'll suggest u to reduce hdd to 500gb maybe, so, u can use the rest for casing around RM150 such as small casing, eg. CM N200 is very reliable IMO smile.gif

*edited: sorry, forgot about cheaper brand sweat.gif better takes below's specs biggrin.gif

hi, this seems a weird question, a friend of mine got a bit of money to be wasted sweat.gif he's asking for a red themed inner components for his rig. is it possible for around 2.7k+?

he don't gaming much as far as I know, maybe light racing games such as need for speed, dirt, etc. no high end fps games as he'll get dizzy playing those games.

so, a nice red coloured GPU and mobo maybe a must for him. I've been browsing around, cheapest I saw are MSI N660 gaming GPU and MSI B85M-G43. or, is there any lower priced GPU with some red coloured? oh, and casing, he likes something like NZXT source. anything with windows and simple crafty looking will do.

also, how about rams? I know everything 'gaming' are more to marketing gimmicks with slight or non performance improving at all, but he insisted rclxub.gif hope someone can giv some recommendation. thanks notworthy.gif

Well there's virtually no difference at all if you pick up either the value ram or the performance ram. Likewise, most of the time people will pick up the latter because it will look better with their set up.

Try this build ,

CPU-Intel core i5-4430-RM559
Mobo-Asrock H87 Performance-RM399
GPU-Asus R9 270X DCii TOP oc 2GB-RM899
Memory-Corsair Vengeance 2X4GB 1600MHZ ram RED-RM289
HDD-WD Blue 1TB-RM189
PSU-FSP Hexa 500W-RM149
ODD-Any DVD player -RM60
Case-Nzxt Source 210-RM179

total-RM2763

this is no way an optimized rig for that budget, but since your friend wanted parts that are red, this is the best that I could list out.
*
thanks. really appreciate this notworthy.gif will let him know. where do u get this price?

Any other brands? From what I heard Corsair products are overpriced sweat.gif

what is your mobo size? Actually, based on my little experience helping four friends build their pcs, casing are a little bit subjective. Casing with a side fan blowing out might help the airflow out from your GPU. Want to try CM Storm Scout 2? Just around RM300. Also quite a looker.

Non OC builds? And guys can you discount if you build with realtech? Or better purchase individual items separately? And is the mobo asrock pro4 dont know the whole name hehe... can it support nvidia gpus? Or r9 290 is the best gpu for 3k rig???
*
OC=overclocking. intel CPU usually named with 'k' at the end eg. i7 4770k. u need a Z87 board for that, eg. Asrock Z87 Fatal1ty.
U can try ask the shop, usually if buy whole rig from them, they'll assamble them for free. if u know how to assamble them yourself, depends on u if u have time also laugh.gif any mobo can accept any brand of GPU now.

before R9 290 actually out, 3k rig usually consist of GTX 770 hmm.gif but since R9 290 is better in performance, that's the best for money for now. unless u're nvidia guy laugh.gif

Wow thanks for the infi sifu... so is the asrock B85m pro4 is it future proof? Like can support any high end gpu from nvidia and saphhire??? Like gtx780 or r9 series? Is that the best mobo for those gpu? No bottleneck on gaming high to ultra settings? And some photo editing like cs5 something like that? I also want to use my future rig for some photo and video editing... and ofcourse main purpose is for hard core gaming... addict here... lol ^^,
*
naah.. mobo have nothing to do in the pc performance. unless u want to sli your GPU, maybe u need different mobo since in specs sheet, Asrock B85M Pro4 only support crossfire (Using AMD GPU x2). mobo most important role is for your connector requirement eg. sata/usb/how many DIMM slot. if u don't do overclocking, B85 mobo is enough already.

for other purpose of usage, eg. gaming, u need better GPU (in your case, R9 290 like previous suggestion icon_rolleyes.gif or if u actually intend to go for extreme gaming with triple monitor, save up more for gtx 780ti thumbup.gif )
for editing photos/videos, u need better CPU (i7>i5 in this case). there's actually dual CPU mobo available by asus, but I don't saw any in Malaysia so far.

Still sifu IMO. Lol.

Follow up question?
What OC do on your rig? Pros and cons??? And... best gaming rig for like 3-4k budget? (I want to use Bluetooth mouse and bluetooth keyboard on my future rig...is it possible?, plus monitor included)
Usb...4-6 slots is enough i guess? Other connections... vga, hdmi, etc (i dont have any idea on these, if someone can educate me it would be great).

Other sifus can also add suggestions and recommendations..
TIA to all sifus who will help and guide me ^^,
*
overclocking is to improve your clock speed, for example, i7 4770k max clock speed on data sheets is 3.5Ghz (to 3.9Ghz) but OC (with 3rd party cooler) ca go up to 4.8Ghz (extreme OC already)

4k including monitor,
CPU-Intel Xeon E3-1230 V3-RM849
Mobo-Asrock B85M Pro 4-RM279
RAM-Corsair value ram 8GB-RM229
HDD-WD Blue 1TB-RM 189
GPU-SAPPHIRE R9 280X vapor x-RM1199
SSD-Plextor M5S 128GB-RM319
PSU-FSP Raider 650W Silver cert-RM279
ODD-Any dvd player-RM60
Case-CM K380-RM149

Monitor-ViewSonic VX2370Smh-LED Black 23" -RM499

Total-RM4020
xeon is fairly closed to i7 4770 (just shy 0.2Ghz slower in fact) with hyperthreading (compared to i5) with price of an i5. very good for photo/video editing.
here's an idea, if u can wait for SSD, can go for SAPPHIRE R9 290 @ RM1499

bluetooth keyboard/mouse in future need a bluetooth adapter (can buy usb adapter) or, logitech wireless combo is good, but really, wireless is not actually great for gaming IMO.
nowadays, monitor usually use DVI. I read somewhere, usually, quality wise, DVI>HDMI>VGA

Uh.. well not a serious editor sifu... just a little photo editing for some I.D pictures and pics. For facebook lol! Music and video editor for some youtube videos only hehehe....
And i think i dont need an OC build.... just for that purpose, just a guess....., just high ultra setting on gaming is my main purpose...... so can i have a final set up sir? Planning to get it this 3rd week of this month? Or better wait for r9 290 non x that they talking about?

by sli/cf the improvement are not actually twice better, but also power hungry for more PSU wattage. I would prefer single good GPU over sli/cf.

hi guys, my friend was thinking to build a small itx rig, coz he wanted to use steam OS later on his TV. my question, is a 450W gold PSU enough to power a xeon v3 1230 v3 + stock gtx760? because his target casing is as small as he can fit the GPU, hence, he wanted to have a small PSU.

other component are limited, like 1 sata HDD+1 DDR3 RAM

If 3K try this..

CPU:i5 4440 3.1 Ghz RM579
MOBO:Asrock B85M HDS RM239
GPU:Sapphire R9 280x vapor-x 3GB GDDR5 RM1199
RAM:corsair 8GB DDR3 1600Mhz RM239
HDD:WD caviar Blue 1TB RM189
PSU:Seasonic S12II 80+ bronze 620W RM299
Casing:Bitfenix Prodigy-M RM 319 (Cycom)
Total:RM3063
Prices from Viewnet while casing is from Cycom.
*
honestly, the budget is around 4k. since the casing he wanted is too small, the concern now is the PSU. but not the prodigy m. smaller

I had help him choose his other component. just the PSU for Leadtek GTX 760, i5 4440/4430. 450W gold as of silverstone SFX PSU enough or not? hmm.gif silverstone ST45SF RM359 from idealtech

Oh that small?I thought he wanted like Bitfenix Prodigy.. sweat.gif
btw,Bitfenix Prodigy is Mini-ITX iinm,while Bitfenix Prodigy-M is M-ATX. smile.gif

CM Elite 120 Advance (RM139 at IdealTech)also fits in that small category. brows.gif

Anyway, your friend can try this instead. smile.gif

CPU:i5 4670 3.4 Ghz RM689
MOBO:Asrock B85M ITX RM289 (IdealTech)
GPU:Leadtek GTX760 2GB GDDR5 RM799 (IdealTech)
RAM:corsair 8GB DDR3 1600Mhz RM239
HDD:WD caviar Blue 1TB RM189
SSD:Samsung 840 Evo 500GB RM1189
PSU:Silverstone ST45SF-G 80+ Gold 450W RM359 (IdealTech)
Casing:Silverstone FT03 Mini RM429
Total:RM4182
Prices from Viewnet while GPU and MOBO and PSU are from IdealTech.

If he went for a casing like Bitfenix Prodigy M,he can get a better PSU so he can get a better GPU.. tongue.gif
Since he want a small casing as Silverstone FT03 Mini,a small PSU is needed, which kinda prevents your friend to get a better GPU.. sweat.gif

NCIX Silverstone FT03 video guide link btw: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dWAeZYB9DGg

ok, thanks bro. I'll discuss with my friend more later. he already have a gaming rig, he just want another steam OS rig for his living room icon_rolleyes.gif

hi, a friend wanted a rig for downloading with occasional gaming. he knew about gtx750, since it's low power, he wanted that. he might also want to used the rig later for a photo editing since he is interested in photography. so, I proposed the following,

CPU:Intel Core Xeon E3 1230 V3
Mobo:Asrock B85M pro4
GPU:Zotac/Leadtek gtx 750/Ti (Price maybe around 500-600?)
RAM:8GB DDR3
HDD:WD Blue 1TB
PSU:FSP Hexa 500W
LCD: recommend? round RM500+-
Casing:any round 100?
Total around <2700. ok or not? he might want to keep 750/ti since it's low powered.
I don't know whether he needed SSD or not. but the way I explained, he shows no interest sweat.gif

if it's for video editing, you're on the right track with the specs for the lcd I'd recommend taking a look at DELL U2312HM for about RM560+, Chassis can opt for the Xigmatek Helios 232, not the best looking but ventilation is good.. and SSD is optional in this case, sure it shortens loading time but thats all
