oh,sorry forgot mention.

is same like mine, corsair vs550.
*
Leadtek GTX760 2GB GDDR5 RM849 from Viewnet.
I'd sell the PSU and get Seasonic S12II 80+ Bronze 620W RM299 combine with the extra money from getting GPU and selling PSU since VS550 isn't that good IMO. tongue.gif

i see this case have many holes, which means alot of air flow(but also alot of dusts i guess?)
and the hdd cage, removable without any screws?
toollessly?

based on the review here..it doesn't seems too good for newbie installer..

hmm.gif Actually, you can let the shop put the stuff in the new casing but since you're reusing the parts..im not sure.. hmm.gif
The CM Storm Scout II has no suprises:no pleasant or no unpleasant.but costs 50 more than your 250 max budget...

ok. gtx 760.

alamak, can specific more why VS550 "isn't that good" ? shocking.gif
*
It's like the lowest one from Corsair, but even it's still the 550W..i would go for FSP Hexa 500W instead for now.Like if you're gonna upgrade to better GPU in example like R9 280X in the future, you may need a better PSU..
And it's good if you're building just for everyday use and normal office work.. tongue.gif

yes lo, I have saw the sticker label total output is only 504w something like that.
for the moment if like gtx 760 you mentioned is ok to use this psu vs550? will it not enough juice kah?

sorry noob question icon_question.gif
*
Im sure that's enough...but if i were your friend,i'd just get Seasonic S12II 80+ Bronze 620W RM299 if he has extra money for more headroom and if in the future he wants to upgrade GPU,no need to upgrade the PSU. smile.gif

QUOTE(wuwah @ Jan 24 2014, 08:40 PM)
hi guys, my friend was thinking to build a small itx rig, coz he wanted to use steam OS later on his TV. my question, is a 450W gold PSU enough to power a xeon v3 1230 v3 + stock gtx760? because his target casing is as small as he can fit the GPU, hence, he wanted to have a small PSU.

other component are limited, like 1 sata HDD+1 DDR3 RAM
*
What is his budget and usage? tongue.gif
If 3K try this..

CPU:i5 4440 3.1 Ghz RM579
MOBO:Asrock B85M HDS RM239
GPU:Sapphire R9 280x vapor-x 3GB GDDR5 RM1199
RAM:corsair 8GB DDR3 1600Mhz RM239
HDD:WD caviar Blue 1TB RM189
PSU:Seasonic S12II 80+ bronze 620W RM299
Casing:Bitfenix Prodigy-M RM 319 (Cycom)
Total:RM3063
Prices from Viewnet while casing is from Cycom.

Haha I know, just stating his usage. But I'm really interested in these tiny steam OS builds.
*
Same as me..but i prefer a ATX size casing though,not too big,not too small,sure fits me! laugh.gif
Maybe the one i put in the reply to his post (i edited it) fits him well if its 3K.

honestly, the budget is around 4k. since the casing he wanted is too small, the concern now is the PSU. but not the prodigy m. smaller
*
Change casing to Bitfenix Prodigy RM279 (IdealTech),Get Gigabyte H87N WIFI-ITX RM459,Get Plextor M5S 256GB RM574,Change PSU to Seasonic X650 80+ Gold Modular RM529.
prices from Viewnet while casing is from IdealTech. smile.gif
RM4047 including the parts. smile.gif

em.. sorry bro.. I know Prodigy M is popular, but dunno why, not on my friend's sweat.gif he like something like jonsbo U3/V3+ or even FT03 mini.  sweat.gif
*
Oh that small?I thought he wanted like Bitfenix Prodigy.. sweat.gif
btw,Bitfenix Prodigy is Mini-ITX iinm,while Bitfenix Prodigy-M is M-ATX. smile.gif

CM Elite 120 Advance (RM139 at IdealTech)also fits in that small category. brows.gif

Anyway, your friend can try this instead. smile.gif

CPU:i5 4670 3.4 Ghz RM689
MOBO:Asrock B85M ITX RM289 (IdealTech)
GPU:Leadtek GTX760 2GB GDDR5 RM799 (IdealTech)
RAM:corsair 8GB DDR3 1600Mhz RM239
HDD:WD caviar Blue 1TB RM189
SSD:Samsung 840 Evo 500GB RM1189
PSU:Silverstone ST45SF-G 80+ Gold 450W RM359 (IdealTech)
Casing:Silverstone FT03 Mini RM429
Total:RM4182
Prices from Viewnet while GPU and MOBO and PSU are from IdealTech.

If he went for a casing like Bitfenix Prodigy M,he can get a better PSU so he can get a better GPU.. tongue.gif
Since he want a small casing as Silverstone FT03 Mini,a small PSU is needed, which kinda prevents your friend to get a better GPU.. sweat.gif

MOBO:Asrock B85M Pro4 RM279
GPU:Sapphire R9 270 2gb GDDR5 RM679
RAM:Corsair 8GB DDR3 1600Mhz RM239

If GTX650TiBoost is still available (im not sure if it's phased out already or still go a few left) 2GB version, then it will be somewhere around RM2050. smile.gif

not including monitor and peripherals
is GTX650TiBoost is GPU?
so if I want to buy, I visit Viewnet @ LYP then tell him about the specs, what's next?
*
Since u don't need periphreals and monitor,just get R9 270 as the GPU.. brows.gif
Btw,you can also use kytz suggestion that he posted to your thread..my suggestion has an i3 but with B85M pro4 MOBO and 8GB Ram.. tongue.gif
After tell the guy the specs, you can tell him "can you guys build it?" (Iinm tongue.gif ) or "i'd take the parts back home and assemble it myself."
If you dunno anything about assembling a pc,you can let the shop assemble it. smile.gif

P.S.Just follow what kytz said the shop thing when u visit them, since i haven't been to lowyat plaza before! XD

With reference to this..https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/3110551

Processor: Intel Core i5 750
Motherboard: ASUS P7P55-M
RAM: 8GB KINGSTON DDR3-1333 (4GBx2)
Graphic Card: Sapphire R9 280x Toxic
ROM: Lite-On 24X SATA DVDRW
Casing: CoolerMaster Advanced 912 HAF
HDD: Samsung Evo 120GB SSD
Power Supply: Seasonic S12II 620w Bronze
Monitor: 21.5' B2230 Samsung

i think i'm fed up with my motherboard and CPU not being able to functioning well..
and would like some recommendation of CPU + MOBO to go along with these..yes..it's an entirely new pc already..i can assemble all the other parts to make another computer now..sad.gif

Your budget for MOBO + CPU? smile.gif
