i know that is why is asked. i just did my timeless shopping, bought (read: ordered) a custom version of a chair which i think will make me very happy and sat in their eames lounger. price is almost twice as much but the leather and wood are all good and if i got it right from the comparison this is almost a 100% copy with an extremely good built and very good wood work. the last time i checked a cheaper version was with sun perry if not mistaken which was significantly inferior quality but much cheaper than timeless. if i have time i will make an appointment to visit mordesign though.

their normal price is Rm3800 which they claimed is 99% close to the original

how is the comfort of the Eames Lounge? usually designer chairs are nice to look at but not so comfortable to sit on.
the eames looks comfy though

I like to have a white one please tongue.gif

the eames is actually pretty comfy. i almost bought it a year ago but because it's a bit on the bulky side and didnt fit in with the rest of my stuff i setlled for a mogensen wing chair from timeless (walnut and high grade leather). my wife still has a bit of regret cause the tilt of the eames makes it really nice for watching tv. but before you decide on a version i would go and see the version from timeless to be sure the design.asia is as good as they claim. price after discount should be less than 3.6k from timeless. so if you can get it for 1.8k it's steal. i cant imagine how they can give a high quality chair with leather for that price and make a profit though.

Okay went to the showroom.
The Eames Lounge for Rm1800 is not close to the original but for those on a tight budget then it's ok. The recline angle is not as good as the "real" thing. The wood veneer is not real.

They do have a normal range which is much closer and supposedly copied directly from a Herman Miller chair. After discount the aniline version is 3.2k. The Italian leather is cheaper at 3k. I think this is with the 20% discount offered now.

One thing about the Eames lounge - there is no head rest

Talk to Grace. She is good and helpful. Sale is on only at end of the year.

ok that explains much. very misleading promo in that case. will avoid them, the price for the normal range at 3.2k is expected but not much difference with timeless. i somewhat trust them more - was the supposedly better copy available too?

i dont understand your comment about the headrest - there is none? as in missing? then that's a waste of time. the point of a replica imho is that it should be just that - a very very good copy.

the promo did mentioned "LO series" but doesnt explain what is that but I kinda knew it was a lower cost version
yup better copy and the lower cost version was there to test.
no nothing is missing. i meant that the chair itself (both original and knockoff) only reached up to the neck.

ok thanks for the info - i know those pieces. which timeless store did you go to KL or Kepong? I always found Kepong staff very friendly. I am more into the leather chairs and stuff and there quality really differs by miles. for the plastic chairs (even some of the eames) the cheaper versions are pretty good. the real differences are mostly visible when it come to the woodwork, leather and surprisingly screws wink.gif - the last eames office chair i looked at didnt even have the alluminium bar in the back fitted 100% straight. but then i am pretty picky with my copies wink.gif

I went to the KL store. Will definitely visit their Kepong store when i want to source for more furniture. For MoreDesign, i believe products that need finer workmanship for e.g. wood products still slightly below Timeless as their supplier in China need more improvement. However as their owner is already in the furniture industry (i heard base in Muar) for long time, i think those like sofas and leather stuff should be at par with Timesless as the upholstery is likely done in Malaysia.

she said the the veneer pattern is painted on laugh.gif
this is for the LO series on offer at Rm1800

the normal version is using real wood veneer going for above 3k which you can choose the type
of veneer. i think 3 types is available - palisander, walnut and cherry

then their pricing is damn misleading. they quote original price from the better version as reference. dont think i would bother with them under such a scenario. not worth my time.

idoblu - i get what you mean but the lounger still is darn comfy right? i sat in the original and its extremely nice. wife loved it to pieces but hated the price (thank god for that - dont think my bank has a buy-a-designer-chair-loan wink.gif ). for what its worth: if you ask me the mogensen in leather/walnut doesnt just look nice its also very comy - despite the complaints from my wife that the tilt she had with the eames was better, it has by now become my fav tv chair.
