Hi all, I would like to ask a question here. Let say you just started working with a company for 2 weeks. And you went for interview with another company and got an offer. The offer is better than the company you are currently with. Will you job hop?

Thanks.

I didnt hop last time when I had a better offer (After just 1 week working in my current company) bcoz I could see my seniors as well as my director were trying their best to guide me in my very first week..and prepare everything like new pc...business cards and blah blah..if I cabut then I really a heartless guy tongue.gif

if U gomen worker think very carefully. You can hop once, in most cases you cannot go back if you don't like your new place. Worse still you will be branded unloyal.
If prebet, then if its trully better, than take it. You just worked there 2 weeks, so there is no harm.

I say go for it.

This seems to be a simple question but there are many factors to be considered IMO:

1) How much better is the pay? 20% more? 50% more?100% more?
For me I jump only i at least got 20% more or if I am greddy 50%

2) Company wise and environment
Which company do you prefer? ur current one or the next one? u also have to consider the stability of the company. Like me I am in MNC now, if the next company that offers me more money is a chinaman company, I want it to be 80-100% more than what I earn now knowing full well the reputation of these companies.

3) Job scope
Are they the same job scope? Which do you u prefer and which one has higher chances of moving up?

Ya I agree with you. Its a simple question but it will sure affect me if I made the wrong choice.

Anyway, I just ask this question in advance cause there is a company that called me for interview next week. And from what I read in this forum, that company is quite good also.

Hi, both companies are situated nearby. As for others I could not answer cause I not yet attend the interview.

Thanks.

Let's say you work for only 2 weeks, and you cabut, do they still pay you the 2 weeks pay? laugh.gif

Another question, if you sign contract for a year, but you cabut after 2 months, what is the penalty? Fine RM5,000?

Depends on their differences in these aspects:
Transportation - convenient to get there or not
Salary - how much difference
People - how are the ppl there, got lenglui or not
Environment - smokey or healthy envt, got any restaurant nearby or have to eat malay stalls everyday
Company background - stable or not the company
Goodies and Perks - Got OT, mileage claim, etc

Weight out the pros and cons if you leave your current job for new one. Make sure it is a good one because there's no point of leaving if there insignificant difference between those two jobs.

they might pay or might not pay you. Depends how lenient are they. The penalty will be based on what it is written in the contract. And again, it depends how lenient they are on these matter too. smile.gif

Get a better offer, hell yes I will job hope! But remember, bigger pay, bigger responsibility, bigger headache. But that depends also, a chinapek company with low pay and do everything, a MNC with good basic pay and dedicated specialised work? The choice is obvious.

Hmmm good for you. I'll be going for my interview this coming tuesday. If they give me offer than my current company then I'll change. If the offer is not really much difference from my current salary then I'll stay.

u worked 2 weeks and u wanna job hop? i onli start for a week in tis new company & i'm gonna take my 2nd MC (which includes tomorrow, 19/06/06) of the week. so that i can go for 2nd interview and another IT job interview at the same day. so, go figure. whistling.gif

if the prospect is good, go ahead. if ur current employee wanna fire u, so be it. if they dun, fine. read the letter of offer before u throw them the resign letter. for my case, i need to give 1 week notice for resignation even tho stil 1 week into the new job. if not, u gotta pay them back edi.

If there is a better pay and enviroment is ok to hop there. freshies always job hop in the first 2 years, but is not advisable to do so. If you found a place where u can stay and learn, try not to hop within a year. Yet it always depends on what enviroment you are working.

working life... argh~ i miss study.

it is depends on which company offer you better future and benefit.
In fact, you still have to consider which job you're more comfortable in...
