QUOTE(Pink Spider @ Mar 8 2014, 11:26 AM) Niasingh lu kay poh here again....Oi, now gimme your recommendation, I want to add one buy-and-forget counter into my portfolio, ada apa rekomendasi? The reader asked (the question’s lightly edited for easier reading): If we were to choose a stock to buy ourselves for the long term, say over 20 years, what are the basic things we need to look out for? http://www.fool.sg/2013/09/13/great-stocks...d-for-20-years/ ..... the key (though crucially, not the only key) to a great business that we can own for 20 years is one whose products can withstand the test of time and not run high risks of it ever being obsolete...... apply same concept over in Malaysia counters? QUOTE(edwardSL @ Mar 9 2014, 12:08 PM) else, I think this applies Revenue or Capital Gains Whether gains from the sale of shares and stocks are taxable depends on whether they are considered as revenue or capital gains. This is because revenue gains are subject to income tax while there is no capital gains tax in Malaysia, except for real property gains tax which is levied on gains from the sale of real property or shares in real property companies. If the seller of shares or stocks is an ordinary investor, any profits or gains made are of a capital nature and hence are not taxable. On the other hand, if a person is carrying on a business in shares or is dealing in them, the profits are of a revenue nature and are therefore subject to tax. read more.... http://www.min.com.my/articles/investment/...ocks-and-shares This post has been edited by yklooi: Mar 9 2014, 12:23 PM |

QUOTE(3antz @ Mar 11 2014, 11:11 AM) Hi there, is Kenanga Growth Fund a good option to start with? Seems like the performance is pretty good . Appreciate your advice. KGF is a good fund.just dun rely on it too much on just 1 or 2 funds. unless one is a risk taker, built a portfolio of diversified funds Avoid Using Your Rear-View Mirror To Invest [16 August 2013] http://www.fundsupermart.com.my/main/resea...?articleNo=3744 |

QUOTE(pisces88 @ Mar 11 2014, 10:39 AM) when your fund hit a certain profit %, do you sell it off a portion to invest in other poor performing funds? My RHB smart balanced fund is at 8%, just leave it? Firstly, just a brief recap on the details of rebalancing and the portfolio we used to test rebalancing through the years. Rebalancing involves setting a fixed portfolio allocation from the very start. So, for example, you set an allocation of 30% into US equities, 30% into Asia Pacific ex-Japan equities, 30% into Europe equities, and 10% into Japan equities. Then, at the end of a fixed period like a year, markets would have moved differently. So, you then buy or sell which ever portions needed until you have the same exact allocation again. And this exercise continues faithfully each year for as long as the portfolio is in operation...... http://www.fundsupermart.com.my/main/resea...?articleNo=3024 guess it does not rely much on the performance of any single fund but as a region... ex, yr RHB smart balanced fund,.....what are the regions of exposure and it % allocated for each countries? are you still comfortable with the % of exposure to that region? is the fundamentals and valuation of that regions still ok to you? are there any laggard funds in your portfolio that needed top up? ..just some of the consideration....i guess if the fund is a single country/sector/asset fund...the above concept still applies. QUOTE(3antz @ Mar 11 2014, 01:23 PM) Thanks yklooi. I just realized it is the similar to the public islamic quity fund (by PMutual) as both are equity funds. Do you think I look for something else instead then? http://www.fimm.com.my/investor/abc-of-unit-trusts/ or http://www.fundsupermart.com.my/main/schoo...d.svdo?PageID=1 because one must know oneself 1st, the opinion and suggestions from others may not be suitable to your risk profiles and risk appetite. continue by clicking at the links at the bottom of each article This post has been edited by yklooi: Mar 11 2014, 01:44 PM |

FSM ADVICE TO INVESTORS of AmBond and AmDynamic Bond
AmBond and AmDynamic Bond have fully written down the exposure of the Kinsteel Berhad’s Murabahah Medium Term Notes (MMTN), which is reflected in the change in the net asset value (NAV) on 12 March 2014 (AmBond fell 2.6% and AmDynamic Bond fell 0.28%). We advise existing investors to stay invested in the anticipation of recovery proceeds from the bond, rather than cutting the losses now. To new investors, their exposure to Kinsteel's MMTN is practically zero, so any proceeds from the recovery are an added bonus. http://www.fundsupermart.com.my/main/resea...?articleNo=4414 |

QUOTE(chrono7 @ Mar 13 2014, 06:05 PM) What does this exactly mean??? I thought they remove one exposure of the bond and hence price and confidence going to drop? so IF they managed to get back the $$ then it will be added bonus. what/whose confidence going to drop? the confidence to purchase the fund? or the current defaulter?....
