Hello there I'm using this thread to find the next set of tires for my 2009 Honda City, although I didn't plan to change the tires so soon I kinda balded certain parts of it during an e-brake when some idiot Wira just swing out to the fast lane at 90kmh while the traffic from the fast lane was going "quite fast" on the North South Highway.

I'll be upgrading from 175/60R15 stock size to 195/55R15 since this car will have to travel from Johor to KL on a bi-weekly basis. While it is mostly just running 10kms per day on the weekdays. Since it is a family loaner I'm not going to install my favorite T1R as the prices of this model has skyrocketed since my last purchased, so I'm left with the pile below of which I want the opinions of buyers/users.

My number 1 criteria is grip and price, between RM160ppc to RM230ppc.
Everything else like threadwear, comfort, noise, etc. doesn't matter.
progressiveness and good side walls are a plus.

I'm quite interested to know from buyers/users about the Neuton NT8000, GTR Champiro BAX2, Corsa 122, BS Turanza ER30 and Dunlop Formula D01.

Neuton NT8000 @ RM170
GT Radial Champiro BAX2 @ RM175
Corsa 122 @ RM175
BS Turanza ER30 @ RM183
Dunlop Formula D01 @ RM 185
Altenzo Sport Comforter @ RM190
Nexen N'blue HD @ RM200
Yokohama C-Drive 2 @ RM205
Yokohama A Drive @ RM210
Kumho Ecsta SPT KU31 @ RM210
Hankook Ventus V12 Evo @ RM210
Hankook Ventus V2 Concept @ RM220
Pirelli P6 @ RM220
Toyo Teo Plus (Made in Japan) @ RM 230

The models below are in a "junk pile" as they do not fit the criteria of performance although they're relatively cheap, the SAV7 was kind of disappointing as reading reviews of people comparing it to my favourite tire the Toyo T1R because they're both stated as performance orientated tires and around the same price range, but SAV7 doesn't have the performance to match TT1R at this price range. It would have been better if they just categorised it as a comfort tire like the CCC5 but I'm more inclined to believe from the reviews it is more like the GYNCT5. While GYAFM and SSM5 are automatically out since they're meant for long life span and low fuel consumption thus grip isn't it's strong point.

Silverstone Atlantis V7 @ RM220
Continental CC5 @ RM200
Goodyear Assurance Fuel Max @ RM225
Goodyear NCT5 @ RM195
Silverstone Synergy M5 @ RM130

Since your main criteria is grip and price then the best choices are below:
Michelin PS3 (I think now can already get within your budget or very close to it).
Hankook V12 Evo 2 (now seems to be the best value for money in terms of performance coz it's the cheapest).
Bridgestone RE003 (may not last as long as the others though due to low tread wear rating)
Goodyear F1-D5 (very good tire, almost as good as the PS3, just a little less performance in aquaplaning and more noise)
May also consider the new Yokohama Advan Fleva which is replacing the old S.Drive.
*
I've used RE003's, PS3's and T1R's I know what they're about and their price.
However, they've moved up to a higher price category.
So now I'm wondering are sub 200 donuts like V12E2 and Formula D05 just as good if considering just two criteria.

Because normally a tire is judged overall based on:
1. Grip Dry
2. Grip Wet
3. Threadwear
4. Progressiveness
5. Road feedback
6. Comfort
7. Price
8. Noise

Of course for a tire to tick all the boxes i'm looking at something which would be considered the benchmark tire for said category, and that would be expensive.

You mean PS3 & RE003 now are above rm230/tire??  I thought at least PS3 price has dropped a lot now, at least can get below rm250. RE003 last time was below rm200, right?
If that's the case then the V12E2 should be a good choice for you.
*
RE003/PS3/T1R to me are quite similar.
Price flux between 210-250 nowadays.
Which is why I'm opting to give them a skip for something sub 200 hmm.gif

PS3 is more all rounder, RE003 a bit more towards dry performance, T1R is just not as good in any compared to those. Then below rm200 should be the V12E2 only which is comparable in the same high performance category as PS3/RE003. For GY F1-D5, not sure if can get below rm200 now. Others are lower performance level (more towards mid level/comfort tires).

i'll checkout the v12

I second the S1 Noble 2, used it to replaced the Yoko DB.

The S1 Noble 2 is comfort and silent, at so much cheaper than the Yoko DB.

The problem is very difficult to get the S1 Noble 2 now, last time i checked few shops also said no more stock.

Finally i changed to Conti MC5.

I still think the Noble 2 is a very nice tires for the money.
