Looking for hankook V12 Evo 2 for my 195/55/r15 85v Myvi tires but cannot find any (Penang/Perak area).  One shop recommended summax max speed r1. Never heard of the brand, u guys got any thought?

Sumaxx Max Speed R1 looks like a semi-slick

I don't think your myvi needs semi slick laugh.gif

Was quoted this at KHL

185/55/R16

Michelin XM2 Plus RM205
Toyo Neo3 RM158
Toyo TR1 RM185
Conti CC6 RM185
Goodyear Excellence RM160
Bridgestone EP300 2018 RM155

So I'm guessing the EP300 is clearance stock avoided it.

The car came with GY Excellence from factory so this is the first time I'm changing a whole set after getting the car in Aug 2017, had to change the front pair last year due to sidewall burst on one of them so won't consider again especially since checking the tire condition yesterday the tire wear was terrible, the front wear until rounded and the rear is at 20%. Overall, can say they served me well but for that kind of performance the wear is out of my expectation.

Within the same price range would be the TY Neo3, although never tried it before I did use TY TR1 and Proxes before so I know the brand in general is more bias towards dry grip and handling but noisy with poor threadwear. So I went to see some reviews and they seem decent comparable to the others within it's price range but review usually compare it against the CC6 and XM2 which of course those two usually win that's why they're almost rm50 more per side -- funny thing too some places Neo3 is only 10 bucks cheaper. So I decided to give Neo3 a try.

Went to the shop expecting to get the "pasang" price much higher but the foreman said no, install no extra charge and balancing free.
Alignment was 22 (i wasn't sure per side or total), and they managed to squeeze another 5 per side from me for the valves.

During the alignment the famous camber screw conjob came about.
I just said no money, then he adjusted accordingly.

Final price is (158x4)+22+(5x4) which is good value for money as I thought they'd charge me 22 per side.
New shoes couldn't come sooner as I had to drive back in moderate rain and some puddles.
I guess I need to run them in abit more before can give verdict.

So did abit of shakedown yesterday and today.
Hopefully the tire will run in by Monday.
Because right now if I were to review it base on my taste and driving style.
I'd say it is sampah.

Issues:
1) Dunno why my steering got abit more play now. Dunno it is tire or alignment issue done by the shop.
2) Grip is meh!
3) Cornering can feel the car is tail happy, though i don't expect my tail will whip out but it doesn't corner well. This could be due to softer compound and tire walls flexing.

Likes:
1) Rolling resistance reduced, when i let off the gas i can feel it uses the inertia well to maintain speed for longer distance than previous tire before need to step on the gas.
2) Tire noise reduced, I am quite surprised at this.
3) Comfort is better, I am also quite surprised at this.

However, for me grip & handling is everything so tire noise and comfort better doesn't matter to me sweat.gif

Hahaha not surprised by your comment! Neo3 is low end model so don't expect much on grip performance aspect. Most Toyo tires are not so good anyway and overrated!

for my high mileage workhorse
158 per side i can't really complain
there was a moment i was considering the westlake Sport SA37 hmm.gif

What grip levels were you expecting from an eco tyre...

worst than the stock gy excellence that came with the car i consider it a failure

I've seen Mercs/BMW etc2. use shit tires plenty of times here too but that doesn't make it a smart decision. ☺️

and the funny thing is reviews online in europe was good
i guess no decent tire below 200 nowadays anymore

Best tyres with decent grip (1st priority). My current ones are toyo proxes which already 40k+. Looking for potentially toyo, conti or some other equivalent.
*
ever since toyo made by silverstone in malaysia
it's like branded crap
i used to like the proxes and tr1
nowadays not really worth the money

I need a suggestion. Kumho PS31 or Toyo TR1?

Generally tyres are more expensive in Sarawak (due to logistics I suppose)

PS31 is RM188/donut
TR1 - RM250/donut (so far)

Any opinions?
*
Toyo made in Thailand/Malaysia quite hopeless.
You have friends that tried the Kmho?

depends on your use
if for doing taxi and driving around town only
not much highway speed
then it is cheap and last quite long

but for more balance overall use better get something better
i am regretting getting toyo neo3 sweat.gif

just to make myself clear i'm comparing it to toyo neo3 coz for a long time i used the japanese made toyo tr1 and it was good until i use the neo3 which reminds me of a bunch of silverstone and simex tires i used before....no grip, no comfort and noisy.
