To show off real powah, download Doom 3 for Android la guys. 3GB ram + Snap800 should have zero issues running with full lighting lol.

Trying to set the old boy up for my N2, supposedly N2 does fine with full lighting as well. How smooth? No idea, but it should be playable. Touch screen controls are gonna suck but add BT mouse + keyboard + HDMI out and it should be a quick reminder of how far mobile devices have advanced.

That said you need to have a copy of Doom 3 for the data files.

Now, hopefully they start porting System Shock 2 and Deus Ex over. Yum.

Also a whole bunch of games playable in aDosBox or DosboxTurbo: http://bit.ly/17FUW56

Wow.
Thanks for the share.  thumbup.gif

Tried just now, looks awesome.
Not super smooth, but quite playable, proly need to play with the settings.

Enjoy.

I actually left my D3BFG installers in another HDD, so currently fiddling with VNDS and Onscripter to make Japanese visual novels work on Android. Oh that and getting GemRB to work for Icewind Dale / Baldur's Gate / Planescape Torment.

Already enjoying Jagged Alliance 2 with the added precision of the S-Pen. Gonna need a bigger micro SD to hold everything soon, I wonder if 128GB cards are out yet.

Time to retire my old 32GB card it seems.

waiting for your feedback, it better be good experience hahaha
eiraku are you using note 3 now?  biggrin.gif
*
Nope. Got it's older brother instead, the N2. N2 thread is quiet at the mo so decided to hang out here a bit.

@Baronic: Yes. Doom 3. For real. http://bit.ly/1cbeUfI

With lighting effects and dynamic shadows... drool.gif

It's actually there in play store already now, sans data files of course. Next to the Return to Castle Wolfenstein port and the before mentioned Q3 port.

Oh and you can even install Win98 on DosboxTurbo now. A N3 should work like a Pentium 133 MMX or something though (N2 is like the Pentium 75), but yeah, we can have access to fully emulated Windows now.

Imho if the top and bottom bezels are exposed it's not a case just a cover tongue.gif
Omg If BG2 works then I'll have sleepless nights..........
*
BG2 doesn't even need emulators. It can run native with GemRB. Oh and BG1, PT and IWD as well. Easily a few months worth of RPG gaming right there.

By BG2 I hope you're referring to Baldur's Gate 2 though.

It's a bit hard to configure but I've got it running before on the S3. So yeah, it CAN be done. Was a PITA to play with fingers however, and the S-Pen will certainly help in that aspect.

There's also a working native android port of Jagged Alliance 2 if anybody's interested. Total time sucker, that one.

Updates on my issue. New APN setting from Maxis did not help. I'm still facing this issue which is very annoying as I heavily rely on email. Anyone else beside ionStorm facing the same issue?
*
Seems to be a prevalent issue on S4 family as well, especially those running Qualcomm. My mom's S4Act has this problem also, and supposedly a lot of others online.

Prolly software updates will come to rectify the issue. I suspect it lies in the modem.

As for why it's not affecting everyone... no idea. Maybe you need to lose connection first (go into a network "black hole" - my parents' house is one) before it happens.

Can go to Pandan Indah SC but they do not have perfect bezel to change for you yet. i went there yesterday. I take a look at few of the parts all are with gaps and loose home button.
At first when purchase the note3 all perfect , after reading too much defect post over here , in the end your device looks defective as well  laugh.gif  whistling.gif

After reading you guys' post a week back, I suddenly felt that my N2 home button was loose as well. Dang.

That said, my S3 came with a yellowish screen, black blotches of Mura everywhere (when the screen was off) and an "insane" eMMC (all of which I only realised when I got home), so when I got my N2 it felt like it was absolutely perfect in comparison.

It's all a matter of perspective really. Though a defect is a defect, sometimes you simply start getting hypochondriac over your beloved new toy.

That actually looks considerably bigger than the MHL adapter I got for my S3/N2.

I wonder if the old S3/N2 cable outputs full HD when attached to a N3?

And anybody "get" Sammy's current obsession with "white" accessories for the Galaxy line? Back in the S3 days everything still came in black. Now everything's white. Cables, adapters... ugh.

The edges are normally the first to be stained.

If it's cased, edges of the screen protector first lol. But that said Samsung makes great white phones. My old S3 stayed pristine white all through it's year long lifetime - and I'm quite hard on my stuff.

That said the N3 has a raised side frame so dirt might just accumulate there. Especially if you have them gaps everyone is moaning about.

Lol I just read the original comment too. My bad.

But white (or any other light coloured) pleather traditionally stains quite easily. Not sure about what Sammy is using though.

Still sticking to Logmein due to zero config. A bit lazy to port forward and all.

That said, has Emit or any of the other Android streaming solutions reached Air Video levels of zero config?

@joytest: It's never the hardware's fault. Nor is it the software. Usually when something goes wrong, it's the "liveware" using it that's to blame.

That said, Samsung HAS made some iffy design choices lately (insane eMMCs, the broken BIGlittle implementation in ExyOcta, the excess feature bloat). But, when you look at the big picture, all the other manufacturers have their own vices too.

Unfortunately this means nothing to your average blind brandboy. Oh well, not that anything we say will ever get through to them anyway.

To each their own, right?

God. The extra resolving power of just 5 extra megapixels are like night and day.

As for the whole "where now" thing, for better or worse I'm now completely addicted to Samsung's reincarnated stylus. I mean, for a obsessive scribbler like me going back to something pen-less will be quite a regression. God might have given use 10 styluses but we all write and draw with pens after all.

I just hope Sammy doesn't screw with us pen-dicted users too much with the upcoming Notes. Knox is fine and all but if they start requiring us to s-off and crap, that might just be the last straw.

A Sammy Note F with a solid metal body would be heaven though.

Starting to get "Prevention Information" warning this morning. I didn't install any apps recently except the stupid samsung updates. Any advice?
*
Are you rooted? Of you are it's just Samsung's way of saying, "knock, knock".

Or in this case knox knox.

If you're not rooted, root so you can be rid of that stupid message forever - which is very ironic if you ask me.

I mean, if you have to root to stop the anti-root systems from effing up everything, somebody up at Sammy must really have a messed up sense of humour.

My phone is not rooted and I've not use the KNOX.

You don't have to be rooted nor do you have to "install" Knox to get the message. If you have ANY programs asking for root privileges (or for that matter, any form of system access), the Knox system (not the installable part, the part that comes built into your N3) will warn you about it.

It's supposed to keep your OS safe. All it does so far is piss people off.

Really Sammy, we're not kids in danger of deleting our /system/ folders clean. No are we bench-heads eager to overclock our processors to the point of meltdown just to get better Antutu marks (which you yourself cheat at, Sammy).

... well, not all of us anyway.

Definitely yes. I just checked.

Personally prefer to create multiple drawers though.

Thinking of getting either one..
butterfly s or note 3..

any opinion from note user..?

For sure N3. Simply because of the S-Pen.

That said, when is Samsung going to go sideways and put the S-Pen into a smaller phone? I'd TOTALLY buy a Note 3 Mini, if the specs are good enough.

Somebody needs to come up with a matte glass protector. I'd buy that in a heartbeat.
