btw nicholas how yur yulond dac performing with yur dakvoice?
is it better than zero dac or zhaolu?
how did u found it ? musical, detail or neutral
*
I hope I have chance to audit zero dac especially those heavily modded one tongue.gif But recently i'm very much less spending time on head-fi stuffs, slowly shifting into hifi stuff.. I should say hifi stuffs are just too.. poisonous hehe. Now most of the time hd650 i use it for skype chatting lol tongue.gif

Well, for yulong dac alone + its amp, IMO it performs pretty well, especially the amp section. The amp section they actually use similar desigh like lehmann amp, which pair really well especially with senn's can. I tried zhaolu before, compare to dah1 i still prefer dah1. However dah1 for me it's not really neutral... some colour added to the music, it's more like.. giving the music a boost in every aspect. Some people like it, some ppl not. Pretty detail, but sometimes lack of musical on certain degree. If you ask me to give a final word for yulong dah1, I would say.. it's good for those who normally use lower quality source like mp3 (i'm not talking about mp3 below 192khz), or those wma.. It really gives a BIG IMPROVEMENT if you listen to those source. However if your source are in wav and so on, you'll just notice some colour add-on, improvement wise, yes but not much.

Regarding the darkvoice, it improves in overall, especially with hd650.. Tried it with cai qin's songs, nice... really nice.. but again i tried akg701 on my dv337, I personally don't like it (perhaps akg cans r not my cup of tea or matching prob)..

If you are around KL, maybe you can come to audit if you want? Since you use hd650 too. I'm bad in words, so I can't really give a proper review / description for what i've heard by my ears. Again i find it hard to describe if we don't have an AB comparison.. thumbup.gif

hmm interesting cos my friends here and there always bugging me to get a very good performance dac since i using mhm for it and soon later my b22 will be finish  sweat.gif need a proper xlr dac for it
wow a interesting statement u mention there mp3 files could improved if u used it on the yulong dac  hmm.gif need to try  brows.gif
btw yulong dac does it have a xlr output?
anyway some my good buddy here is crazy enough to ask me to get xindak 5 dac with tubes and bur brown solid state
is it a good recommendation?  hmm.gif i found hardly any1 mentioned it in headfi or other website....
well i appreciate yur offer but nowadays i am busy with my work in Sg  sweat.gif Christmas and New Year so fore
if i got time to come down i will give u a pm so that we can test each and other rigs  biggrin.gif will bringing 3 of my cans as well lol akg,dt and hd as well
*
Yeah, weird right? I think the improvement over mp3 is just like.. make it sounds better than it should be tongue.gif For me 1st time when i heard by myself, I got a shock as well. But it's clearly stated in the user manual and also from the designer yulong himself, the purpose of dah1 is meant to be used pair with pc audio since nowadays quite a number of ppl use pc as source.

Nop dah1 don't have xlr output. Regarding the xindak 5 dac, from spec wise it looks promising but again without any audition i dare not to make any recommendation hehe. Like you've said, a man's food might be another man's poison. But 1 thing i should point out due to my personal experience.. China-made product can be really best bang for bucks, with lowest price give you the best possible specs that you can get within the range, but when come to quality wise.. that really depends on your luck. My yulong dah1 spoil once less than 1 month, for no reason. And when i refer to china erji.net, quite some user also suffered this where their new units are having prob. End up I have to send it back all the way to china to get it repaired. Some might really disagree with my statement here, but this is just to share tongue.gif

Haha sure, i personally more interested trying dt can.. and also like to try your hd650 with the crystal cable if i'm not mistaken heh.. too bad i think i made a wrong decision to get the cardas cable for hd650, basically not much improvement over the cans, from what i found, only increase in durability doh.gif Wonder why some of them claim that they notice day & night difference lol.. again, my mistake to rely on the review too much tongue.gif

sifus,

is HD201 good? what about the sound Quality? HD means can play Hi-Def sound rite?

sorry, HD201 is the only sennheiser that i can afford.. sad.gif
*
If you are a basshead, then forget about it. However SQ wise it's pretty worth it for the price you paid for. Erm.. i think HD is just a code name, doesn't mean anything tongue.gif

QUOTE(64bit @ Dec 15 2008, 05:49 PM)
I just got my second hand Sennheiser HD600, unamped , comparing it to my HD555, its bass sounds really deep and is considered bassier than HD555 a lot. One thing I noticed that the vocals are more forward sounding whereas the HD555 is more laid-back, and with its unique EAR technology (surround), this seems that the HD555 has a larger soundstage than HD600.

I am looking forward to compare both of them with an amplifier in the future. Meanwhile does anyone know where can I find a replacement headpad (top) for HD600 and how to remove the old one?
*
Boss, no need to buy replacement for the headpad la.. I understand, bcos as time goes by the inner form will somehow 'vanish'.. happen to mine too, and bcome totally flat, very uncomfortable. But guess what? We can always DIY what tongue.gif Cut a small opening, buy a pillow whichever u feel comfortable, cut it out, gorek the cotton out and fill it thru the small opening, then stitch back..

Below are some of my pics..

See the small stitch?

Thanks a lot, nicholas_1213! I totally did not think of it. Instead of stripping of a pillow, I think I will try to find some cotton instead. Any idea what Sennheiser stuffed into the headpad? Why does it "dissapear"?
*
Lol no prob mate.. I'm not sure, bcos it happen to another of my senn;s earpad also -senn hd515. when i opened up, i only found some black powder-like substance. Guess that they just put some synthetic foam inside, and throughout the normal wear, it degraded and become powder-like substance.

The challenging part is to sew it back and make it not visible as much as possible. But as long as you are patient enough, it's just piece of cake tongue.gif

i have a question to ask,

previously i owned a low end sennheiser model, i cant remember what it was and recently i bought teh HDR130

its strange tho, this might make some people laugh at me perhaps but whenever i hook it up to my lappie its not loud enough and the headphones sound horribly limited.

anyone know how ican ovvercome this flaw, my lappie is my main music/movie system tho.
*
Perhaps you need an amp for it.

yup, much worry about that...
Do you think FocalPrice will sell counterfeit product for CX400?
coz there are selling US$ 2x.xx only..=.=
Can i buy from there?
beside, CX400 or SoundMagic PL 30 better?
*
Normally I would say if a new (not owned previously) product with the price offered that is surprisingly much lower than the retail one, high chances that it's counterfeit product, just the rule of thumb and simple sense. Nobody will do a business without profit and thinking of us$2x.xx which already included the profit margin, it'll only lead you to 3 questions.

1. Sennheiser is taking freaking high profit margin while the cost is only <$2x.xx?

2. You meet 1 nice fella who is doing charity.

3. The are selling another product but they named it as Sennheiser CX400 too.

3 of them are possible but I won't risk my money as I myself came across this problem twice, wouldn't want to make the 3rd same mistake cool2.gif
