Shiny is just colours , and its rare!

Well basically its only difference in color. Like for example Electabuzz is usually yellow, its shiny is pinkish. Advantage is its rare and people collect it. You can trade it.

You'll know a shiny when you met one. Different color, sparkly when you encounter it and like Sunnyeong picture there's star near underneath its picture

Is there any indication of shiny pokemon apart from their difference in color? because not too expert on color of each pokemon so might KO by mistake.

They will make a shine, and there's a sound that comes with it at the beginning of the battle. Hope that helps

There will be special animation and sound effect show up when you meet shiny pokemon.
