I am suffering from panic disorder and is currently under medication from Hospital Sultanah Aminah in JB since October last year. I'm taking Luvox and Clonazepam now and it seems to work but the side effect is pretty obvious. I'm very sleepy during the day plus some other effects. Before the medication, it was... well, really bad. I can barely go out of the house, bed ridden all day long.
Actually it took me a while to discover that i have a panic attack. I went to tok bomoh, tukang urut, mintak air tangkal and stuffs etc before i discovered this. I made my dad so worried about me. As far as i remembered, i had these attacks back when i was in MMU a few years ago but it was not as bad. Only May last year that i had an attack so bad that i went to a clinic with my dad at 12AM but then the doctor diagnosed me as having hyperthyroidism. He took my blood to check it but after 2 days the result says that my thyroid is normal. So i'm like, blur at that moment. And then June 2006, World Cup haha... i was still feeling ok at that time. Around July 2006, i started to go to SPACE UTM at Jalan Semarak, and then the situation started to get clear.
So, i'm studying at SPACE UTM in KL but i live in Segamat, so i travel there by bus on a weekly basis. When i reach there (after a few weeks) i realized that i'm having these attacks again. My heart will start to go wild when i'm at Puduraya and LRT, also when climbing up the stairs. And then at home i started having insomnia, hard to sleep, thinking too much before sleep, death came to mind too. I totally can't go out at all. I was too afraid to drive, too afraid to even go out of the front door AT ALL. In short, it's real bad when i start panicking. Usually lying down is the best solution, if can't just sit and take a deep breath. Drink plain water or something. It will usually go away after a few minutes.
If your situation is like me, can't tahan anymore, please see a doctor. A neurologist more precisely, tell him how you feel exactly and he will diagnose you appropriately, and you'll get proper medication for your case.
Hope this helps.
