QUOTE(Gen-X @ Oct 22 2013, 12:15 AM)
In my article My Son Is Going To The USA Again On Business Class, besides showing that we can get equivalent 19.19% and 12.33% cash back with the MBB VI and MBB 2 AMEX respectively when we redeem Enrich Miles converted from Treats Points for Business Class Ticket,  I also mentioned that one can be issued the Maybankard Visa Infinite if we sign up for Maybank Private Banking and if can't prove our income, we can pledge FD.

The Maybankard Visa Infinite earns the card holder 5X Treats Points overseas but only 2X for local spending.

So this card is great for those who spend substantial sum of money overseas (online or in person) like in the case of rjb123 where he spend RM12K-RM15K per month on overseas transactions.

And this card is also great for Miles where he flies overseas like every other week.

But , the Maybankard VI is not good if you spend your money locally.

1. With overseas 5X Treats Points, for the VI it works out to be RM0.90 spent = 1 Enrich Mile. But for local spending where you only earn 2X TP, it works out to be RM2.25 spent = 1 Enrich Mile. Whereas our Maybankard 2 AMEX which earns us 5X TP and with conversion rate of 7000 TP = 1000 Enrich Miles works out to be RM1.40 spent locally = 1 Enrich Mile.

2. To redeem stuff other that Enrich Miles, the Maybankard VI has no advantage over the Maybankard 2 AMEX because we need the same number of points to redeem for the same item.

3. If you fly economy class with Malaysia Airlines, it may not be worth it to redeem our Treats Points for Enrich Miles. In my article titled Toshiba i5 for RM999 and Enrich Miles Redemption, I showed that we get the same "worth" when comparing redeeming Enrich Miles for air ticket versus cash voucher. Not only that, we still need to pay for surcharges and taxes when we use Enrich Miles to redeem for air ticket. For example, I still need to pay RM1,140 for surcharges and taxes when I redeem for a FREE return ticket to Melbourne. But with Air Asia, I can get return trip for less than RM1K including taxes and whatever surcharges during promo.

And if you pledge RM50K FD with Maybank, you will get Board Rate where as you can use this same money and go deposit elsewhere and earn yourself more than RM225/year.

Click here to my Fixed Deposit Page to see FD Board Rates offered by commercial banks versus FD Promotions where we can get up to 3.98% until end of October 2013.

MBB 12 Months FD board rate 3.15% versus Affin Board Rate 3.6%. That's RM225 extra money.
If compare MBB 12 months board rate versus KFH 12 Months Junior Promo FD rate 3.98%, that's  RM415 FREE Extra money.

And for MBB VI annual fee  2nd year onwards, it is automatically waived with RM50K spending. Really automatically waived, no need to call CS or whatever. The real benefit on the Maybankard VI is the excellent 4500 Treats Points =1000 Enrich Miles and use the redemption to get "FREE" Malaysia Airlines Business Class when there is a promotion. I must stress only use the Enrich Miles to redeem for MA Business Class ticket when there is a promotion. For example, with best deals we can get a one way Business Class to US for 51K Enrich Miles compared to usual 200K+ Enrich Miles during peak period and last minute booking. Yes, 200,000+ Enrich miles for a one way Business Class ticket to LA.

I thought that's based on posting date? If I'm not mistaken there was once I swiped my card on my statement date and posting date is the same, ended up charged to that month's statement. If I can recall correctly but it was few years ago, so I could be wrong.

Actually, it Depends on the Bank also...
Some of the Bank X Generate their Statement on Public Holiday or Weekends ie, UOB... blink.gif

Hi everyone,

I was wondering what is the minimum working period required in order for me to apply this maybankard 2 gold? Is it a must to be minimum 3 months? Because I need the card for some installment plan.

I am asking this because one of my friends working for a public listed company able to apply uob credit card with 1 month pay slip.

Another incident was that I went to RHB bank last week to check my EPF acc number (worked part time for 6 months last year) and one of their employees from credit card department approached me asking me if I wanted to apply for their credit card and I told her that I have yet start working (by that time) and this is my first permanent job (just graduated) but surprisingly she told me that I can apply the credit card with the offer letter as I am working for a public listed company.

So I was wondering what is the minimum working period to apply for that card? I don't really want to take risk as I am aware that cool off period will be 6 months after the failure of applying the credit card.

Thank you very much.

Income Submission Guide for Credit Card Application:
For Fixed Salary Earners
*Latest 1 Month Computerized Pay Slips OR
*Latest Computerized EA Form (dated within the Last 12 Months) OR
*Latest EPF Statement (dated within the Last 12 Months) OR
*Latest Borang BE with LHDN Receipt (or Proof of Tax Paid)
For Non-Computerized Income Documents, it is Advisable to Provide more than 1 Income Document (eg. Bank Statements, EPF, EA) to Show Salary Received.

They Usually Need 3 months Payslips + EFP Printout... nod.gif
P.S: Provide them with 3 Months Payslips were Better... coz It's a Proof of... Your got a Steady Stable Job (image), so the Bank will Consider to Grant You their Credit Card Facility

maybank used to reject my application years ago when my earning was puny but sufficient to fulfill the minimum requirement. I've applied twice-both got rejected. I've no other cc that time, no loan, everything is pretty clear. After 5 years; now that I have other cc, earning triple of that salary and having a car loan with maybank itself- they present me the card without me applying for it. I even upgraded to platinum and ask for limit increase more than 3x of my salary without any problem.
