This morning received a call from Maybank telling me that they are giving me maybankard 2 platinum cards without me applying at all.

I get her to email me but did not received any. Is this a fraud kind of thing?
*
Did she request any personal details from you ? Like requesting you to give out your IC no ?

No. I did not allow her to talk further after she finish done promoting, I get her to email me as I want to consider it.
*
Then i think you shouldn't be worried. As long as you did not give out any sensitive information that it should be fine. Can't comment on whether or not she really is who she claimed to be though.

Noted. Shall wait for her email. Anyway, should I request for any free gift?
*
You can try if you want to but Maybank rarely gives out free gift. I personally have never done it before though. Not with Maybank, not with any other bank either.

possible to email MBB credit card department to re-issue the stolen supplement credit card some times ago?
*
No. It is not possible as there will be verification needs to be done. Besides, only the principal credit card holder can request for replacement card.

QUOTE(Gen-X @ Oct 13 2013, 09:50 AM)
But I find it odd that they did not issue you a replacement card withing a week of your report.

Same here hmm.gif

if buying from overseas site
is there any other charges apart from currency conversion?
*
There is also admin fee. Maybank claim they charge only 1% admin fee but the actual admin fee imposed is around 2%.

Just tried it and the 7% rebate did show up. See below:

When I did it for the hotel in Seoul, only the card no and name will do. For the hotel in Thailand, it is still not reflected after I key in full details. Same thing with my Visa.

I did book for hotel in Bangkok a month back (Pullman Bangkok King Power) and the 7% rebate did show up right after i keyed in my card number.

Ok. I know what's the problem already. The current promotion is valid for booking made up to 31 Dec 2013, and for stay up to 31 March 2014. But you are trying to book a room in April next year. That is why the x% rebate is not showing smile.gif

Haha, i am giving up. Will try other hotel. My best guess is, the rate already include a Flash Deal! – Limited Time Offer. Rate includes 58% discount!, so no further discount  rclxub.gif
*
Got. Just that the current promotion doesn't cover for hotel stay after 31 March next year smile.gif

Ah... what to do then. How about HSBC ? Do you have a HSBC credit card ? Can get 5% to 7% rebate too.

Opps! Won't work either. The current HSBC Agoda promotion is valid for stay up to 31 Jan 2014 only. But from my own experience, HSBC normally will extend it sometime in November or December, as what they have done in the last 3 years smile.gif

I think Maybank have made some kind of mistake with my VI application. I placed an FD against this card and they've also increased my MBB2 card credit limit by the same amount (what it shows online, anyway)
*
Mind to share how much is your FD pledged to get the VI ?

Thanks smile.gif I think i might just try to get the MBB VI using such method too.

By the way, is the credit limit given to you 100% of the FD pledged ? And i read that you forgot to pay the stamp duty ? I assume you had to pay stamping fee for the collateral agreement ?

I just came back from overseas for good lately and don't have a job yet. My friend is working in Maybank and being told to look for more customers to apply CC. I could get Gold card if I can put at least RM5k FD for 1 year.
*
Ask your friend if you can withdraw the FD after a certain time even when your credit card is still active.

my application for the cards is failed sad.gif and no reason is stated for that... when i can re-apply?

The normal cooling off period is 6 months.

maybank2kad and maybank visa infinite, can they share the treat points?
*
My understanding is that they're separate and can't be combined.

Otherwise you'd be able to redeem 1000 Enrich for 4500 TP rather than 7000 like the MBB2
*
Not sure about Enrich redemption but you should be able to combine the TP earned from both cards to redeem for vouchers at Maybankard Centre.

Good News - Our MBB 2 AMEX  now has MSOS SafeKey.

I wanted to purchase Air Asia ticket and was rejected because I needed to activate AMEX MSOS SafeKey.

So I called MBB CS and registered for the MSOS for my AMEX. Within minutes I received an SMS informing that my registration has been successful and immediately I can purchase the Air Asia tickets.
*
It's been implemented at last thumbup.gif

the FD is for 1 year and if there is no outstanding payment from CC and got a stable job then I will be able to withdraw that 5k
*
This is to apply for the credit card by pledging you FD. It's very generous of Maybank that allows you to withdraw your FD even when the card is till active as other banks do not allow you to do so.

Anyway, all looks look. Go get your Maybankard 2 Cards now and use your card wisely icon_rolleyes.gif

By the way, i think you have to pay the stamping fee for the agreement (to apply for credit card using such method).

I can confirm this, both for MBB2 + VI I had to pay RM10 stamping fee.
*
Oh yeah, how about yours ? Can you withdraw your pledged FD after one year even when the your MBB2S + VI are still active ?

I personally had done this once 4 years ago with HSBC. There was an agreement i needed to sign but i did not have to pay for any stamping fee. The down side was that the credit limit assigned to the credit card was only 80% of the amount of FD pledged and i can't withdraw the FD as long as the credit card is still active. So i wondered if it is any different with Maybank and whether or not you can withdraw the FD pledged after certain time.

I enquired about this initially - actually the cards that were issued both have validity of only one year , and they said will make a decision in the year after if my record is good whether to issue CC without FD or not.

But I'm not Malaysian so the rules are most probably stricter than for locals.
*
Ah, i kept forgetting the fact that you're a foreigner. Anyway, thank you for sharing your experience smile.gif

QUOTE(hihihehe @ Oct 29 2013, 07:51 PM)
Ahh, so there might be a catch for this. The reason why she is looking for more applicants because the credit card team can't hit the target and hence need some help from other departments like loan department(where my friend is currently with).

If I put in RM5k then I will get a Gold card with RM5k credit limit and RM20k for Platinium. I will enquire more from her about this again. Thanks
*
Sure. Keep us updated smile.gif

Good to note! Thanks for the update. Is this what they refer as 3D SSL security?
*
Similar to MasterCard SecureCode and Verified by VISA.

QUOTE(hkboey @ Oct 30 2013, 12:01 AM)
If so then we would expect more website to accept AMEX soon.
*
I doubt it. Many merchants, especially the smaller ones do not want to accept AMEX because of the high merchant fee, not because there is no Safekey feature. As a matter of fact, AMEX Safekey feature has been around for 3 years already but right until now many online retailers that accept AMEX have not added this feature to their online payment system.
