what's the best way to burn-in rams?

Put your rams on the stove, light it up, there, you'll get yourself a burnt ram. laugh.gif

then what? get a pair of shiny Ballistix?

Nope, you'll get Team Xtreem PC2 10400 DDR2 1300MHz 2GB Kit with Micron D9GKX chipsets. ROFLMAO tongue.gif

Try it on your Team Valueram.
Remember to burn it at 250Degrees, for 15minutes. icon_idea.gif

lol, really thumbs up to this reply. i was reading this thread with so much concentration, and when i reached this reply, i really burst out laughing. lol.

btw, a noob question here.  my mobo is as shows in my sig, so i was thinking, is it better to get 2x1GB ddr2 800MHz rams, or get 4x512mb ddr2 800MHz ram? will it be the same, or there'll be performance difference?
*
Overclocking 2 sticks of ram is always easier than overclocking four sticks. smile.gif

i heard somewhere that having all 4 slots filled up can get good results, even though im not in favour of that idea though.
*
I didn't say that.
I said, overclocking with 4 slots is harder than overclocking with 2 slots.

Overclocking using two piece of rams is always better and it'll perform better. smile.gif

QUOTE(boulala @ Jun 3 2007, 10:04 PM)
i want to ask for opinion here. i have problem here. i want to upgrade my ram. now im using kvr ddr533 2x512(psc ic) can clock till ddr7** only. which one is better considering my rig only support till ddr667 and vdimm till 2.1v only. my choice is either ballistix 667 2gb kit or team value ram 6671gbx2. for sure that the ballistix is highly ocable. but my prob is whether the 2.1v is enough for the ballistix. and the performance for team value is said can be clock at ddr1000 also. so, which one i should buy. the team or ballistix. really need help here. tq in advance.
*
My ballistix PC2-5300 DDR2 667MHz is running at 1000MHz @ 5-5-5-12 @ 2.1Volts. smile.gif

Any other info that u need? wink.gif

yeah i know. another issue is budget. if team value ram can achieve the same performance. i have no choice but to buy the team value ram. i cannot find someone who interested in my current ram.
*
Yes, the team valueram can reach the same speed, but can it match the performance Micron D9GMH / Micron D9GKX?

The answer is no.
This is because the ProMOS chipset uses different binning compared to Micron D9GMH / Micron D9GKX.

Do take note of that. smile.gif

i think 2.1v is no problem for DDR1000 CL5..
someone already done it only with below 2.0v..

but for DDR1000 CL4, i seriously thinking that such tight timing needs higher voltage..
*
Micron D9GMH / Micron D9GKX needs 2.2Volts to run at 1000MHz @ CL4

but, AFAIK, most of the high perfomance ram using D9GMH hmm.gif
confuse rclxub.gif
lol
*
That's because Micron D9GKX has been stopped from production.
Those rams that uses GKX are only leftovers.

There is high performance rams that uses GKX, but not much can be found.
You can find it on some valuerams, but do note that valuerams doesn't work the way High performance rams work.

As most valuerams rams uses 4 layers of PCB which can't stand high voltages.
Whilst high performance rams uses 6 layers of PCB that is either Brainpower PCB or Levin PCB.

There is also Brainpower PCB that is on 8 layers, but is in a very rare occasion.

These 6 & 8 layers of PCB tends to use lower voltage & produces less heat than those 4 layers of PCB that is on valuerams.

Your high performance rams have an ability to withstand high voltages, thus, the lifetime of the rams stands more longer than those rams that uses 4 layers of PCB.

@Shawty

How you know the layer thingy? How about Corsair XMS2?? How many layers the rams use?

QUOTE(sempronic @ Jun 4 2007, 03:56 AM)
yaya.....

me also wanna know....
*
Because there is a website that can tell the chipset that some rams uses and what type of PCB it uses.
But this website doesn't concentrate on Corsair ram so much, because corsair ram has too many revisions.
So, it doesn't say what type of PCB does an XMS uses.

QUOTE(Hyde`fK @ Jun 4 2007, 08:58 AM)
From reviews, or if you own the RAM, you can count it by ownself too.
*
Count? You can't count the PCB, unless you have the eye of a microscope. sweat.gif
The easiest way to know either it's using brainpower PCB or not is easy, there should be some sort of serial number that can explain either its a brainpower 6 layers, or brainpower 8 layers.

Right now, from what i see, only Team Valueram & Twinmos Valuerams uses Brainpower 6 layers PCB. Those are the only two valuerams that uses Brainpower PCB 6 layers.

All other valuerams uses nothing but crap @ chapalang 4 PCB layers. laugh.gif

sup3rfly, those two list are very unorganized and very hard to read.
Plus, for the Corsair area, it doesn't state all revision of XMS rams. sweat.gif

yep, from what im seeing, D9GKX is 25-E type, similar to the D9GQG. 25-E type have good timing and speed, so i think it's better to get those compared to D9GMH, am i rite?
*
Wrong.
Only some D9G are good.
Not all micron chips that has the D9G sequence is good liao.

The top three Micron D9G are:
1st Place = Micron D9GKX [Rare]
2nd Place = Micron D9GMH
3rd Place = Micron D9GCT [Very Rare]

D9GQG is not a good overclocker liao. laugh.gif

oh, ok. thanx for the info.

i've done some checking, and found out that D9GKX chipset is used on 1066MHz ddr2 rams. so for those ppl who's opting for 800MHz or less, D9GMH would be ideal. rite?
*
Not really.
Some high performance rams is also using Micron D9GMH.

IMO, Micron D9GKX & Micron D9GMH performances doesn't vary by far.
I'll wait for uncle almostthere to explain about this. wink.gif

hi guys, i hav jus changed into a DDR2 platform and get myself a crucial ballistix pc5300 from shawty
however, i cant even overclock the ram to be stable @ 800mhz 4-4-4-12 2T, i even tried 2.2V on tat timing n frequency, but it failed in memtest86
any idea wat could be the problem? issit because of i m using a Pentium D and not a core 2?
other spec can refer to my signature
thanks for any help, newbie in intel platform overclocking sweat.gif
*
Now that's weird.
I've used the same ram with you before i've upgraded my ram to Ballistix PC6400 DDR2 800MHz 2GB Kit.
Before this, i've used the Ballistix PC5300 DDR2 667MHz 2GB Kit overclocked to 800MHz @ 4-4-4-12 @ 2T @ 1.95Volts, Memtest86 stable & Orthos stable 12 Hours. smile.gif

I don't think it's your processor.
I think it's more to your motherboard liao. sweat.gif

guys is the D9 reli run so hot?
i touch the heatspreader of my crucial with bare hand, it is reli so damn hot, like touching boiled water sweat.gif
*
Nope, it's not because of the D9 chipset.
It's because of the crucial ram themselves.

Crucial uses Levin PCB that is known for it's "hotness" laugh.gif

All Crucial Ballistix & Crucial Ballistix Tracer uses Levin PCB. smile.gif
