Actually Sony do that previously.

In Xperia Z time, Sony tend to fixed warmer yellowish screen became whiter, thus those already white screen became blueish.

This issue had been discuss widely last time at XDA and China gfan forum.

Sony cannot get proper display quality control and against remove the white balance setting is somehow silly. At least with white balance setting, people still can adjust itself.

Lucky I am release from those issue already, I not going to use back any Sony phone unless Sony can proper control in screen panel and given best screen panel - IPS LCD or AMOLED only.

Since when got yellowish panel on AMOLED?

Previously before S4, Samsung AMOLED is greenish/blueish. But this issue no longer there since S4.

Note 2 screen is not accurate, I means start from S4. My Note 3 color is white enough and not over white, I don't see any demo set got yellowish, blueish, greenish issue yet.

And base on my previous Xperia Z, it is too white until slightly blueish.

My Xperia Z Ultra wise ok.

Whatever *ish... the best is let user adjust itself the screen color, everyone prefer different color tones, the most accurate does not means everyone like also. Example Note 3 color is damn accurate when set to Movie mode but I don't like, for professional mode wise, it is following Adobe RGB, in general it is much warmer and wider gamut.

How the screen goes, at least can preferable set is great, Xperia Z can, Z Ultra and Z1 cannot as Sony stupidly remove it. Note 3 can set easily via Screen mode or manually via Colour adjustment.

Z Ultra don't have double tap to wake up. Sony only do it under Tablet Z.

Ya, double tap to wake up is useful, even LG purposely promote it.

Dunno how Sony think, removing this and that features.

For this year 2013

• Xperia ZL - initial release with White Balance control.
• Xperia Z - initial release don't have White Balance control, only appear after few updates.
• Xperia Tablet Z - came with solid screen panel and double tap to wake up feature but don't have white balance control. The only device with double tap to wake up.
• Xperia Z Ultra - came with solid screen panel but don't have white balance control and solid stable until they implement the backlight optimization which some user face fake hang and SOD. Some more it degrade the screen quality, much dimmer and dull.
• Xperia Z1 - don't have white balance control and same some user face fake hang and SOD due to backlight optimization. That useless features make the screen much dull and worst more the viewing angle. I had try turn it off before during test out, and the viewing angle is much better without it.

You mean S II screen? I never like any Samsung AMOLED screen before S 4. All S, S II, S III, Note & Note II AMOLED screen I never like.

Haha! Now still got some people test it out Note 3 as still new, soon will be silent.

This is the correct way. Normal user won't touch ISO setting. I play DSLR but when comparing photo quality, I will only snap auto also as that is the most common way people use.

Actually I agree on what they all said.

Lumia still is damn sharp and clear and unbeatable except macro not closed enough, but I won't get it as their white balance is all way wrong. Camera pro is auto mode.

Note 3 do deserve rank no. 2, it is awesome and easier control than Z1 with much more cool and useful features. After I compare with Z1 that day, I don't see Note 3 worst than Z1 in day light and indoor. Auto mode is auto mode.

Z1 still usual got Sony issue, and the bundle features frank said is nothing wow compare with Lumia (manual focus mode and all necessary features) or Note 3 & HTC One with full of useful easier use features. Sony camera features wise is boring, and two of it is kind of useless - that item recognized & as well that for kids dinosaur effect. Auto superior is auto mode.

iPhone 5s get second last is predictable, from all review I seen, it sometimes even output worst than last year iPhone 5.

HTC one wise, no choice, even it pack with lot useful features, but too bad the output quality is truly crap.

That is the manufacture issue, Sony can't proper control in auto mode, that already lost don't care how great they are.

No point comparing in manual adjust as that is not what most user will do and it defeat the purpose of phone camera for easier usage point and shoot.

One part Note 3 lost until no place to stand when compare with Z1 is night time shot. That part confirm Z1 win strong strong.

GSMArena compare low light not night shot, night shot I mean is outdoor night street shot, I give great base on user post here. I got no chances to try this part.

Base on sample given, it is not good, too noise, possible Sony still push too high ISO in low light shot via auto mode.

Sony need to learn on processing part, Sony can release great sensor but can't fully utilize it.

Z1 is using VA panel, no need compare, what you said is correct.

Not everyone will agree. But it is. Z1 panel is not that washed out compare with Z as Z is even worst using TN panel.

If you want perfect screen and more critical on screen panel like myself, in future source for phone using following panels:

• IPS LCD - LG, Asus, Lenovo, XiaoMi and etc. Most brand in market use this panel for high end phone.
• SLCD - HTC, Samsung
• AMOLED - Samsung, Nokia, Moto

Sony is not constant in screen panel quality, some is TN, some is VA, some is IPS.

TN & VA is not a good panel.

It is washed out slightly (just tiny slightly) even straight view, how to said, the color is not that constant, but it is not that obvious in Z1. Z is much more, my friend use iPhone 5 that time that 1st impression he told me is why the screen look washed out when he play my Z.

Don't purposely go look for it if you not that particular on screen panel, else you will always spot it later.

Hmmm....

I just download both version.

Noise wise, not really different. Newer firmware do slightly clean.

Color wise - do different but not sure which one much accurate.

Details wise - older firmware is better, at least can see clearly the wall texture than newer firmware.

So basically Sony means of improve details is getting more strong filtering out the noise?
