Depends ppl want to take the chance or not. This guy makes car videos, obviously he understands the risk and he knows it requires a lot of preventive maintenance. If you follow this youtube channel, they list down all the possible issues of continental cars and the potential bills. Those are in thousands of ringgit of repairs, and he still claimed "not expensive"..

Some times it's not about the money, but the mental stress to figure out what's wrong, how do we know SC are just BS us and tell us to replace everything but it's actually just a simple repair, and also the time spent to visit multiple workshop to hunt for reasonable price and getting few opinions before deciding on the repair.

Agreed. If you want to own or drive a continental. You need to know what is preventive maintenance and also get a good mechanic to help find the root cause and fix if anything went wrong. A lot of workshop & SC nowadays just want to earn easy money so just replace everything laa.. laugh.gif

Still the mindset of a lot of people tend to think that continental cars are unreliable is a bit untrue, if you really follow their maintenance schedule and change all the recommendation parts in time usually it can still be reliable; just when people start to compare maintenance cost with Japanese/Asian cars they complain of high cost but never compare the specs, safety, NVH & technology given...

Sales figure is a solid indication. VW showrooms are closing one by one here. No matter how the VW owners claim their cars so reliable, the sales figure never lie.

Some ppl are just plain lucky i guess, i have a friend who's trying golf gti mk5 for 10 years and hardly any issues except wear and tear

Yes. That YouTube guy is the exception. Not the rule.

The question is, do you feel lucky? If yes, buy it. Otherwise why risk it? It costs money, not free.

When the VW car has no problems, it’s really solid, befitting it’s German heritage, even the ones not made in Deutschland. DSG is quick and thrilling with its bang bang bang upshifts.

At the end of the day, money talks, bull poop walks. Like the other guy said, look at VW Malaysia sales.

Depends on branch i guess. Im having good exp with Juru branch. Replaced my stock spring to sport spring immediately after drove out from show room. They still help me fix the absorber even the warranty for suspension is obviously voided.

I agree on this 100%. To own Contis, must understand preventive maintenance & have a good mechanic. The biggest mistake made by most ppl is to rely soley on SC. Once an issue is not solved, they comment Contis are not reliable!

I have two contis, BMW 630i & Peugeot 408thp. Bimmer is 14years old & Peugeot 8 years. No issues with both cars!

BTW I am intending to replace my 408thp with either X1 or 3008. It certainly wount be a Jab model!

As mentioned by littlefire, just change mindset on maintenance practice!

same issue, lack of expertise in Malaysia. New company take over but still retain all the useless staffs.
