Hi guys, need help here on recommendation of a suitable credit card.

1. Annual Income: RM70k-RM90K

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Preferably yes

3. Card required for: Fuel, online shopping, preferably with nice rewards or discounts/rebates

4. Existing credit cards if any: UOB One Card (sub card from my dad), RHB standard card (forced to take when apply loan)

5. Looking at CC from: Nil

6. Others: Looking for a card with nice rewards or rebates. Having access to airport lounges is a plus.

Thanks guys!
*
Please refer to post #685 for your recommendation which is CIMB Cash Rebate Platinum Mastercard. You may also apply for Maybank 2 Cards if you use your card on weekend on American Express .

1. Annual Income: -

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Preferably yes

3. Card required for: Fuel

4. Existing credit cards if any: Wise & Maybank Amex & UOB One Card  & Citibank Platinum Cash back & OCBC Titanium

5. Looking at CC from: Nil

6. Others: Due to citibank not willing to waive the annual membership fees, plan to cancel it thus would need another petrol card that could give at least 5% cash rebate.
*
To be honest, you already have the best card combo for petrol in wise, mbb amex and uob one. If you need another one, you have to apply for Public bank Esso Mobil Visa Gold Card. But your choices of petrol kiosk is limited to Petron only and you have to pump at least RM 800 per month to get 5% CB! Any amount lower will result in lower % .

1. Annual Income: Slightly lesser than RM30k, current salary at 2,400.

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: yes

3. Card required for: cash rebates, online purchases, shopping, movies

4. Existing credit cards if any: none

5. Looking at CC from: any

6. Others: Monthly expenses not more than 600

Hi all, I've read through some similar salary range and found most of you recommending the UOB cc and MBB 2 cards. I'm hoping to apply for the MBB card but my annual income isn't there yet, however I have an account at Maybank and have been inserting FD almost every month, would it be possible for the bank to accept me?

Thanks all!
*
Yes, It is possible provided you pledge FD with them. 2 weeks ago my nephew applied that way and got approved. And his salary is RM1500 so you stand a good chance if you are willing to pledge.

1. Annual Income: 26k

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: If possible

3. Card required for: mostly Petrol (monthly rm800), topup T&G rm400 monthly, others donno,, maybe can put maxis bill, astro, air+api,

4. Existing credit cards if any: no

5. Looking at CC from: no

6. Others:possible rebate/cashback and also treatpoints
*
I really wish to recommend Maybank 2 Cards to you but your income is not there yet. Since your petrol usage is heavy, you may as well apply for Hong Leong Wise Gold Card. Your petrol spending alone will earn you RM 80 but you must make at least 10 transactions a month with minimum amount of RM50 each to activate that month CB.

Sifus, just a technical question = is it true that once you swipe the card after the service tax of RM50 is charged to your a/c that you MUST pay this tax? TQ
*
No. In fact it is charged when your application is approved. Basically it is charged even b4 you activate the card !!

after i make kira2,here are my bills

rm900 petrol + rm400 T&G + car service RM300 + maxis bil rm150 + Car payment rm500 (Can?)

Your petrol usage is heavy! UOB One no doubt is easier to apply but capped at 500 (am i right?) and the 900k allocatement probably runs out at the middle of the month !!

1. Annual Income:  RM60K to RM100K

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: No

3. Card required for: Petrol, Cash Back/Rebate Only, Mobile,

4. Existing credit cards if any: CitiBank Platinum

5. Looking at CC from: Hong Leong Wise

6. Others: I will only charge Petrol, Mobile phone, maybe Groceries ( 1 transaction). The Agent in Hong Leong bandar Baru Puchong told me Petrol not counted for transactions, only cashback shakehead.gif , confused
*
The agent is wrong. Petrol trnx of RM 50 & above counts . My missus category is Petrol & Utility. The bulk of the trnx is for petrol (8 trnx /month) . CB comes in every month as normal ! biggrin.gif BTW remeber to apply for Gold Wise instead of Platinum one as the benefit for both cards is the same but platinum is charged RM 300 AF while gold is RM 160.

Thanks for your reply, but How do they defined Groceries? Do we need to buy from TESCO, GIANT only? or we can buy from Hero, Segi Supermarket and so on? Thanks again
*
The aquiring bank will assign the code according to their business. Grocery merchant is listed as MCC5411. At present most supermarket and hypermarket are MCC 5411 including Hero TMG Mydin as well. As a Hong Leong Wise Card user, i even have grocery rebate at places like meat butcher and chinese medicine shop!

1. Annual Income: RM30K to RM34K

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: A Must

3. Card required for: Plan to use the CC to buy motorbike  with 0% easy payment plan.
4. Existing credit cards if any: Nil.

5. Looking at CC from: no idea

6. Others: Plan to terminate the card after the payment  done. The solely intention to apply to CC are to buy bike only tongue.gif

Thanks in advance for advice!
*
First of all, you have to identify which merchant offers 0%EPP for motorbike. Then you have to apply for the card from the bank which is eligible for EPP at that merchant. But be aware of the credit limit which comes with the card. Your income suggest that your credit limit will be around RM5k . So you may have problem to have your EPP transaction approved if your bike cost < RM4k.

Oh oh.what the min amount??
*
From what i know the minimum CL for VS is 30k and VI is 40k. Your pledge should be more than 30k for premium cards.

QUOTE(cfc @ Jul 28 2014, 03:34 PM)
wongchoy, can you share ur step to do the FD pledging , how much (30k ?), how to get the form (walk in to branch and ask ?)
interested to get the card but  salary is not meeting  sweat.gif
*
OK. First and foremost you will need a FD account. If you don't have one, go and open one. After you got your FD cert, tell the officer you want to pledge this FD for credit card. From there onwards a knowledgeble officer should be able to assist you. Apart from the normal credit card application form, you are required to fill a "Right to set off" form and pay setem hasil. After all your form is filled and signed, the officer will submit the credit card application form, your FD cert and the right to set off form to card center for processing.

You have to refer to the branch for answer but generally multiple cert should be ok.

Cause the credit limit from mbb2 alone is not enough for our whole family use. So beside cimb what else is good?

Thanks
*
Since you have MBB2, your option include CIMB Rebate Mastercard, UOB One Visa, and if you can take on the challenge, Hong Leong Wise Card.

i only want to carry 1 card + my existing HSBC card, 2 card for me max.... so which 1 is the best ? my card so far i only use it for auto debit for utilities bill+ petrol + insurance + some groceries only. i nvr use it for other installment plan.
*
If you only want to add just one more card then you won't be able to maximise your spending potential. If that is what on your mind, then choose CIMB Cash Rebate Mastercard.
