Managed to apply the RM30 coupon code via ipad app. The android app via bluestacks didn't show the apply coupon code option.

Anyway thanks guys for the info. This RM899 offer has eluded me several times & I gave up chasing the offer at pc fairs. Gonna give my wife the W4 as she needs a device that can handle flash to watch her chinese & korean drama episodes..

Users then to forget that IOS & Android is not running from HDD. The main OS function is residing in the ROM. So to equate IOS & Android, you have to compare the rotation speed of Win RT tabs not WIN8.1

Assuming the speed is the same, Win8.1 have to rotate 2 screen orientation - i.e. Modern + Desktop simultaneously.

I already tried rotating my IOS 2 times to simulate 2 screen rotation vs Win8.1 one time. Guess which one wins?

Have you optimised the Win 8.1 settings to performance mode?
Mine rotate under 2 sec only.

It's the same way one tweaks a PC or notebook.

Easiest is just go to Control Panel\System\Advance System Setting\Performance
Set it to Adjust for best performance

Another friend of mine who wanted to get the W4 just missed the opportunity. Anyway I'm sure the RM899 price will surface sometime again.

My tab have been set to performance mode all this while to avoid slow respond. I still get 8+ hrs of use. Maybe you loose a couple of mins but I didnt notice the power drain significance as the baytrail CPU will still clocked down when idle.

Should open a separate Asus Vivotab 8 tab thread here liao...instead of mixing with Acer w4 as the device is now available locally.

From reports here, seems like W4 charging is very sensitive on cable impedance, not so much on volts & amps?

Anybody works in Acer over here? I think we need ask them how to work around this as we just can't rely on one original usb cable from manufacturer to charge the tablet! What happens if you need a longer usb cable for greater charging convenience?

Win8.1 is like that. Funny things can happen all of a sudden. MS ppl responsible for the OS is to be blame for shoddy programming.

Windows sucks at scaling? I assume it's the text that looks like bitmap blocks when scaled?

I just enable clear type text & text looks fine when zoomed...

Try having yr ext hdd plugged in usb & do a reboot. I bought a 1TB hdd recently & faced this problem of Win8.1 not recognizing the ext hdd. I had to reboot everytime in order for win8.1 to see the drive. This is an driver/OS bug. For my other ext hdd, I dont get this problem.

TP8 battery life is 3hrs shorter due to higher res screen & slightly faster cpu. Not worth it in my opinion since the faster cpu is still not as fast as i5 & not going to make a big difference in actual use. I can also forgo the HD screen for more battery life since 1280x800 is sharp enough.

Just managed to catch up with my friend today. He got a brand new set at $880 from IPC with 1 yr warranty. I believe a few more of my friends also got from there. Anyway W4 is the best selling 8in Win tab liao...

I think the quoted battery specs is wrong for 3G version. 25Wh should hv a higher capacity than 4960mah since Voltage is similar at 3.7V

I gave up on miracast. Its a half baked tech that sound promising but fail to work most of the time. Video output quality sucks as there is heavy data compression / artifacts. Even a simple vga output from nb to TV or Projector is far better with less connection issue than miracast. As for the W4, one would be better off using the hdmi output via cable or a hdmi to vga dongle to connect to older projectors without hdmi input.

You need to increase icon, font, menu, etc size in order to make it easy to use finger on desktop mode. Next enable clear type text so that when scaled, the text dont look blocky.

Sadly only W4 is having offers. The other 8in tabs manufacturers are not bothered to increase sales or else this would be a hotter playing field.
