the model is RG-TMRND, the black router
Owh my, that's the first router used by TM for UniFi customers.
You must be among the first batch of UniFi customers. biggrin.gif

Which one you recommend ?  biggrin.gif
If you ask me to recommend, I don't recommend both of them.
I'd recommend at least ASUS RT-N14UHP.
The RT-N14UHP has a usb port which can do wonders for you such as:
* Turn a USB printer into a network printer. This way, you can print from any PC / laptop / smartphones.
* Connect an external harddisk share it with everyone. You can even access files inside the external harddisk from outside of your house by using FTP.
* With an external harddisk connected to the USB port, you can use the pre-installed download manager to download torrents. The router will download torrents & save it directly to the connected external harddisk. This way, you don't have to use any PC / laptop to download torrents & at the same time, you save power & reduce electricity consumption.

ASUS RT-N14UHP also has a very large WiFi coverage. Much much stronger than the TP-Link TL-WR1043ND & ASUS RT-N12 D1.

sHawTY RT-N14UHP for sure works fine with Unifi? Planning to get it this afternoon.
Wondering if got at Lowyat Plaza or not.
Yes, it works perfectly with UniFi.

But to be 100% sure, you can ask ASUS Malaysia directly through this thread:

Hello, I just upgraded my internet from streamyx to unifi 10Mb

Whenever I did speedtest, I got 9.98 - 10.3 Mb download speed

But when I download something using internet download manager or by torrent, the highest download speed would be 1.2 Mb ;o

However, when I use my tablet to download youtube video I can get 6-10 Mb download speed..

How do I fix this? :/ not sure if it's my laptop problem or what uh why won't I get full download speed (or maybe at least 6Mb)

Edit : I got 11 for ping D:
First you have to understand the differences between MegaBIT & MegaBYTE.
1 MegaBIT equals to 128 KiloBYTE
10 MegaBIT equals to 1.28 MegaBYTE (1280 KiloBYTE)

What UniFi is offering is 10 MegaBIT, not 10 MegaBYTE.
You're getting your full speed of your UniFi when it shows 1.2 MegaBYTE in torrents & internet download manager.

Mb = MegaBIT
MB = MegaBYTE

Thank you. I don't know much about these stuffs Orz

But how does I got 5MB download speed on my tablet (usually when I download youtube videos)
Are you sure it shows MB?
Check again. I believe it's written in Mb, not MB. smile.gif

Normally how long would the speed of VIP10 in effect?
Turn off the BTU & the router for around 5 minutes.
Then turn on the BTU first, let the LED's go stable around 1 ~ 2 minutes.

Then turn on the router.
Once the router is stable, you can try running speedtest & torrents again.

If there's no changes, then call UniFi helpline at 1300-88-1221 & check with them.

I can't help much as I never had DIR-825 to test.
But according to the post in the link below, he had success in using DIR-825 with UniFi & IPTV on OpenWrt firmware.

Perhaps tch9 can help you.

hi,if i was blacklisted by TM,can I still apply unifi
No.
You have to clear that blacklist before registering.
If you have unpaid bills, pay them first.

Did i need to disconnect first my unifi login from modem?
Just disconnect the WAN cable from the original UniFi router, then connect the WAN cable to your DIR-825 WAN port.

Although be reminded that you won't be able to connect to UniFi until you've applied the correct switch settings, UniFi username & password inside the DIR-825 OpenWrt router.

Is there any different if I'm using a dir 825 or Asus unifi router high end model?
Absolutely.
I'm using ASUS RT-AC68U at home & fully satisfied.

No need to modify anything & no need to flash custom firmware.
WiFi coverage is also very strong when compared to my previous routers such as ASUS RT-N16, TP-Link TL-WR1043ND & TP-Link TL-WDR4300.

My RT-N16 & RT-AC68U never crashes unlike any TP-Link routers I've tried.

RT-N16 & RT-AC68U comes with 2 USB ports which I fully utilize.
The first USB port is connected to a Brother MFC-J625DW printer. This turns the printer into a network printer.
The 2nd USB port is connected to a 500GB external HDD. This will let me use the router as torrent downloader & save it directly into the connected external HDD. With the Download Manager function in the router, I no longer have to use PC/laptop to download torrents. thumbup.gif

Hi guys , just got my 10mbps VDSL .
my phone and laptop got 10mbps at speedtest.net
while my desktop  (im using wifi adapter/receiver/detector) only get 3mbps. what should I do to improve my speed ?
If you're using USB WiFi adapter, upgrade to a PCI/PCI-Express WiFi adapter.
Although nothing beats an ethernet cable.

I have a TL-WR1043ND just waiting to be set up. So, what else I might need to know about swapping out the stock router for this baby that isn't covered on the KL Seet website. Asking because the info there is pretty old...
The only thing you need to know is your UniFi username & password.
You can get the UniFi password from UniFi helpline at 1300-88-1221.

Hi...I've been having a few problems with my Unifi lately.

Everytime I start my torrent program, even though I'm not actually torrenting at all, my Internet becomes unusable. The only way for me to fix this and get my Internet to work like normal again is to restart the whole modem. Even refreshing the modem using the refresh button on the modem/router does not work.

Does anyone know why? Thanks.
What kind of router are you using now?
Are you using the original router provided by UniFi? If yes, which one?
L7-N-R2000? D-Link DIR-615?

Can provide some screenshot of the switch settings?

Or perhaps you can post the switch settings screenshot directly on the DIR-825 thread:
https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1900602

This way you can help other people who wants to use UniFi on their DIR-825 on OpenWrt firmware.

It's the D-Link one. Could there be something wrong with it?
No, there's nothing wrong with it.
It's just the stock firmware that's crappy & unreliable.
Flash to OpenWrt & your problem will be solved.

Search for KlSeet blog, you'll find how to flash your DIR-615 to OpenWrt in his blog.

I'm using the D-Link 615 router.
The problem just started to occur recently, which makes me think the router is becoming faulty.
Is it possible to call TM and ask for an exchange for the router?
That depends.
If the router is under 1 year old, you can exchange it for free.
If more than 1 year old, you'll have to pay. But it's not worth it as their price is higher than other 3rd party routers out there.
